  1. Has anybody else become frustrated with game reviews and comments lately? I find myself actively avoiding them, because so many seem to me to be motivated by politics now. I don’t feel discussions about games need to be politics-free, but I suspect a lot of reviews and comments nowadays are written by bots, or are similarly artificial in some way. That gets fatiguing to wade through.
  2. Are there any elements or mechanics that were present in earlier games in series that were later removed, that you wish would come back in future installments?
  3. Is there a game that you love in a genre you usually don’t? I.e. you maybe don’t usually like 2D platformers, but there is one special one that you do? Or maybe you don’t usually like shooters, but there is one exception?
  4. Are there any games you have started over multiple times, but still can’t seem to get into? That is No Man’s Sky for me. And I still wish I could get into it. But the learning curve feels so steep.
  5. If you keep seeing a game you want on sale at a modest discount, but never more than that, what do you usually do? Is there a point where you give up and buy it? Or do you keep holding out for it to come down further?
  6. Cleo is good! It took me some thought to understand the concept of buying gift cards to get discounts, but it works. It's super easy to use, and it's saved me a fair bit of money on some large purchases.
  7. I’m on my first playthrough of The Witcher 3. I always hear that the DLC is amazing.
  8. Inventory management in general kind of drives me crazy in every game. And I agree, the dragon attacks do come at the most annoying moments. I also can’t stand when the dragons fly way far away in mid-fight, and you have to wait for them to come back.
  9. This thread made me realize that arena shooters are all I’ve actually really played. So, I guess I don’t have a preference, because I don’t have enough information to have one.
  10. “Sad” doesn’t capture my feelings about it. More like … crushed, horrified, broken inside, lol.
  11. For me, third person games are the ones that make me feel like I can’t see. I can see around my character, but I can’t walk up to things and see their small details. First person is how I experience RL, so it feels more immersive and real to me in a game too. It also doesn’t make me dizzy.
  12. The Witcher 3 is great with this. Also, Dragon Age II is pretty much the game of side quests.
  13. Does A Plague Tale: Requiem count? Absolutely crushing.
  14. What classic Windows games do you miss? I miss the old pinball game.
  15. How do you feel about games that limit the number of heal potions/spells/items you are allowed to stockpile or cast?
  16. What are some multiplayer games you used to enjoy that still exist, but largely are sitting around empty?
  17. Are there any random or odd things you are good at in games? For example, I am good at getting to hard-to-reach or sometimes intended-to-be-inaccessible places on a map.
  18. What are the weirdest and most fascinating esports you are aware of? I recently learned about the Microsoft Excel World Championship.
  19. You know at the start of a new game, how it asks you to adjust the brightness so that something is “just barley visible”? What does that actually mean? I never know how visible it should be. If I take it really literally, everything is usually too dim.
  20. Can you think of any classic, well-received games that a significant number of people dislike? My example is Myst. It’s a beloved classic, but there was and is a large slice of the gaming population that finds it tedious, boring, or too hard to bother with.
  21. Did you miss out on any games because you were stuck on dial-up back when that was common? My friend reminded me the other day that is why we missed the early days of WoW.
  22. So often I see threads on Reddit asking if gaming is a waste of time. Why do people
  23. Does anybody else feel guilty attacking dragons in Dragon Age: Inquisition? Most of them are just minding their own business. Some are even sleeping. The gear isn’t worth it for me, lol.
  24. I had an interesting moment in The Witcher 3, where I was in the bathhouse, and paused overly long next to one of the naked women. This game does seem to encourage you to ogle women (consider how many have their shirts half-open, lol). So, I was startled when the naked NPC said something like, “Are you staying then? It’s safer when you’re around.” The moment really caught me off guard, as it seemed like I’d been very gently called out for my objectifying behaviour. I walked away feeling a bit guilty, hahah. Anyone else experience any moments like this in a game?
