What is the best approach for a conscientious player to play an “evil” character in an MMO? My brother mentioned that he usually tells people OOC in games to let him know if he’s gone too far. He wants to make sure everyone is having fun, even when he’s doing messed up stuff IC.

When playing an MMO, what is your goal? Level up as high as you can? Explore as much as possible? Socialize? Gain political or economic clout? Just chill out and escape ordinary life?

What was your record for most games played (not necessarily completed) in a year?

I’ve noticed that when people discuss “immersion,” they are not always referring to the same thing. Usually, when I use this word, I mean “feeling like I am present in the game universe, like I am actually there.” But sometimes I see people use it to mean “emotionally invested in the game universe.” When people don’t realize they are using the same word with totally different meanings, confusion and miscommunication can ensue. When you use the term “immersion,” what is its definition for you?

Are there any devs that have gone out of business that you wish would be resurrected?

What game have you spent the most time playing in 2021? I am pretty sure for me it has been Oblivion.

If you were stuck playing games from only one publisher for the rest of your life, which would you pick?

This is it exactly. Alas, I don't think most adults ever reach maturity.

Are there any games or types of games you have not played in a long time and want to get back into? For me, it is FPS arena games.

What are some unique ways that games have discouraged piracy? An Infocom game called Wishbringer a long time ago included physical items in the box that you needed to solve a puzzle in the game.

What games would you give a perfect score as a reviewer, if any?

How did you end up playing the main platform that you do? Did you choose it for a specific, deliberate reason? Was it the hardware? The games? Or did you end up on it by coincidence? I ended up on PlayStation by coincidence, as a neighbor loaned me theirs and then sold it to me--but I'd have picked it anyway just for TLOU.

Back before open world single player games were a common thing, were there are other types of games where you liked exploring more than whatever the main intent of the game was? As an example, I spent a lot of time exploring in MUDs instead of trying to level or compete with other players.

What are some factors that can lead to stagnancy in an MMO? I would list, for instance, a game where factions are too segmented off from one another and their core beliefs/motivations are not allowed to transform.

Are there any games you can happily watch for hours, but which you just have zero desire to ever play?

If you are going to pay full price for a remaster, what are you looking for to make your purchase worthwhile? Improved graphics? Enhanced UI? Fixes for bugs? Something else?

Do you have any ideas for co-op games that are different from anything else that is currently out there?

Co-op games: Usually fun, or usually frustrating for you? And does it depend on the type of game and/or who you are playing it with?

Are there any games that you can play co-op or solo, but which you vastly prefer playing by yourself?

I find a shower in cold water (with zero heat) quite uncomfortable, at least for about 40 seconds. But I do it regularly since it helps me practice standing outside my comfort zone, and makes it easier to tolerate other uncomfortable experiences.

Plus, how many forum administrators would even discuss it with their members? @DC is the best 🙂
