  1. I’ve been doing a casual text RP with a friend one-on-one lately, and it’s been remarkably easy for us to keep coming up with stuff to do. It made me think back to my old days playing MUDs where for some reason, it was so hard to “make our own fun” when the admins weren’t running world events. It made me wonder why it was so difficult for me back then. What are other peoples’ experiences with this, particularly in MMOs?
  2. Does anybody else get super stressed if they have to play a long section in a game with no manual saves?
  3. Do you think it’s possible to do a good and well-received adaptation of a series like Mass Effect, where there are tons of branching choices and consequences? What approach would you take?
  4. Are there any highly-rated games you are sure are great, but you will never play for whatever reason? This is the Dark Souls series for me.
  5. Have you ever found yourself in a situation in a game where you literally could not progress because you were missing a critical supply?
  6. Are there any games you played where on a second playthrough, what you’d learned during your first caused you to view a character’s motivations very differently?
  7. I was realizing the other day there are some Dragon Age fans who only seem to like Origins. Are there other series like that where a lot of people only seem to like one game in the series? Do you feel that way about any series?
  8. If you’ve been missing a game for years, but you don’t have time to play it, do you do anything to try to engage with it? Like watching let’s play videos, etc.
  9. Did you ever play a game that failed to meet your expectations or hopes, but which overall, you still enjoyed and would play again?
  10. If you are seated next to someone who flies into a rage while gaming, what is that experience like for you emotionally? Do you feel mostly sympathetic? Mostly overwhelmed? An equal mix? Do you just sit there quietly, or do you try to validate them or help them fix the problem?
  11. Are you multi-tasking at all when you game, or are you 100% focused on gaming? I am usually focused mostly on gaming, but sometimes I am also entertaining my cat.
  12. At what age did you start really getting into gaming? Not necessarily the first age you remember gaming now and again, but the age where it became something you were really excited about or dedicated to.
  13. I know some people who love watching playthrough videos online, but don’t like playing. Do you know anyone like that? I actually used to be like that as a kid, because I was just so terrible at playing.
  14. Usually spoilers are things to be avoided. But are there any circumstances where you don’t mind them, or even prefer them?
  15. Do you feel that game trailers should always be for giving us a look at what a game will actually be like? Or do you also like more conceptual trailers?
  16. What are some examples of games where the trailer and the finished game were incredibly different from each other? (BioShock Infinite’s trailers spring to mind).
  17. Are there any characters in video games you didn’t get to know as well as you would have liked?
  18. Are there any art styles you enjoy that you have never seen used in a video game, but which you wish someone would use in a game?
  19. If you play for a while and make no actual progress, or even lose progress (i.e. lost funds), do you still feel compelled to hit “save” in games? I do, for continuity’s sake.
  20. After completing a game you played for months or years, how do you process being done with it? For me, I have a compulsive urge to talk about the ending of the game to any person who it won’t spoil it for.
  21. In games where eating, sleeping, wearing the right clothes, etc confer a minor benefit, but can be neglected with zero consequence, do you bother doing those things?
  22. Sometimes when I’m doing tedious grinding in a game, it occurs to me how “work”-like it is. Yet somehow I’m still having fun. But I suspect if I had to do the same thing for a living, the fun would drain out of it. Anyone have thoughts on this?
  23. Have you played any games where you had to make elaborate spreadsheets, checklists or charts to help you with some aspect?
  24. One of my friends only played/discovered TLOU after watching the show. I imagine that’s happening with Fallout now too. Anyone here ever only play/discover a game only after seeing its adaptation?
  25. Is there a game you play in a POV that was not intended as the main choice? For example, I am pretty sure RDR2 is primarily designed as a third person game, but I play it entirely in first person (riding and all).
