  1. If there were one thing you could change either about games themselves, gaming systems, or yourself that would make gaming easier for you, what would it be? Like for me, the one thing that would make gaming much easier for me would be if I had good executive function. Then I would push the right buttons every time I was in a fight, and wouldn’t try to do things out of order. I also would waste less time scrolling through incorrect menus.
  2. If we ever were to have fully immersive VR like being on a holodeck, would you want to feel pain if someone shot you or you struck a surface, etc.? How dampened would you want it to be? Or would you want it to be filtered out completely?
  3. What games do you spend the most time thinking about on a daily basis? For me, it is the BioShock series, followed by the Fallout series.
  4. Sometimes after a fight, I find Serana frozen in a fighting stance, and she won’t get out of it. She also gets stuck in walking or standing positions. Anyone know how to keep this from happening? I’m on PS3.
  5. Are there certain mistakes you are especially prone to when playing games? For me, it is pushing wrong buttons.
  6. What is a game you have been playing for eons without finishing, either because you can’t beat it or you keep putting it off?
  7. When you watch gameplay videos, do you like listening to commentary, or not? Does it vary based on why you are watching the videos?
  8. Is there a game you thought featured amazing, lifelike graphics when it came out, but which now looks really clunky?
  9. Share a YouTube video showing part of your favorite classic games. I'll start with Return to Zork.
  10. Goth aesthetics are all over video games. What are the most goth games you've ever played?
  11. Does anybody else ever dread a time coming when you won’t have a compatible system to play your favorite games?
  12. @Shagger pointed out on another thread that when developers promise "innovations," they often are selling something more like gimmicks to try and get cash. So, what makes for a quality innovation versus a gimmick?
  13. If you're right on the edge of dying in a tough fight with a lot on the line (i.e. you'll lose lots of progress if you die), how do you mentally rally and pull it together? Usually I throw caution to the wind and get bolder with my attacks, and that often seems to work.
  14. When the weather is blazing hot, what steps do you take to protect your console?
  15. I think it might depend on what it'd entail. I mean, if I can still see and feel and hear nature, I might want to stay, even if I couldn't influence it.
  16. I'd like to be able to switch it off when it no longer serves a purpose (i.e. chronic pain that can't be fixed).
  17. Couldn't say. Maybe I'd have more regrets with 50 years, but more achievements and amazing experiences too. If that is the case, I'd probably pick the 50 years.
  18. If you lose a fight in a game, is it your first instinct to think “I screwed up” or is it your first thought that “the game cheated me/glitched/etc”?
  19. Have you learned anything useful about casual social skills from games? Like, playing open world games has taught me if you want to get people to engage in small talk or help you with something, ask lots of questions.
  20. So, after three weeks of destruction spells on my own armor plus repair hammers, I finally got level 50 armorer skill in Oblivion. All I can say is … I have no idea how anyone could get there organically in any sane amount of time.
  21. What video game character do you have the most in common with? For myself I would say Leliana from Dragon Age or Joel from TLOU, but they are both way cooler than me.
  22. I won’t ask if gaming is a luxury or necessity in general—but for you specifically, which is it? I would say it is a luxury in that I know I can technically live a fulfilling life without it, but a borderline necessity since it is a huge mental health help for me. Plus, I feel things at the top of Maslow’s pyramid of needs are still legitimately needs, and it helps fulfill those.
  23. Sometimes I feel like I have gotten “used to” modern gaming graphics too much, and essentially take them for granted. Can anyone here relate? Is there anything about gaming you feel you sometimes take for granted?
