What is your current favorite song in a video game? I can't stop looping this track from the Forgotten Vale in Skyrim: Dawnguard.

What game has had the biggest impact on your life? For me, it is probably still Myst, but followed by Spec Ops: The Line and BioShock Infinite.

What is the hardest lesson you ever learned gaming? Mine was when I screwed up in a game as a kid with one save file, and learned the value of earlier backup save points (as I had to start all over).

In Skyrim, I miss the numerous summonable entities from Oblivion. Is there a particular entity you wish was available in Skyrim that isn’t? I miss the Skeleton Hero.

Is there a game you default to when something goes wrong? I.e. if a game is driving me crazy glitching or my pain levels are too high to focus on something I really want to give my all to, I default to Skyrim.

Is there a genre or format of game you haven’t played that you want to try? For me, it would probably be modern side-scrollers, but they intimidate me since I was terrible at their classic counterparts.

If you haven’t gotten into VR, what would need to change about the technology to interest you in it? I still haven’t had a chance to try it, but I definitely would need an ultra-light headset since I have migraines and neck/jaw problems.

Is there a really big game franchise that you don’t think you will ever play?

So, here is an embarrassing thing. I always thought the only vents on my PS3 were in the back, and diligently cleaned them. But I finally realized there are vents all around the edges underneath. The good thing is that I think I solved my fan problem (I hope). But I feel really embarrassed not to have noticed this years ago.

I bought it. Now I just need a console to play it on =D

Not what I was thinking of, but I think you figured that out. And I absolutely agree sometimes our anxiety is there to send us a very important message about our survival, and listening to it is far wiser than trying to erase it.

When I play video games, I am interested in everything. I pay attention to every detail of every environment. I excitedly talk to every NPC, and listen to everything they say. But IRL, I often am not paying nearly as much attention, and I typically avoid small talk. But I’ve noticed it is easier to get through it if I pretend I’m playing a video game. Do you think your life would be better if you were able to approach it with the same intentionality as you do video games?

If your video game console needs repairs, what do you do? Do you try to fix it yourself, or do you take it somewhere?

I watched a really cool essay-style analysis of Skyrim and RPGs on a channel called “Like Stories of Old,” but most of his videos aren’t about games. Does anyone know any other channels with similar material about games?

The other day in Oblivion, I felt more of a sense of achievement from climbing up a mountain I wasn’t intended to than I would have going through the cave system I was supposed to. Do you also ever feel more accomplished when you use a workaround than beat a dungeon or level as intended?
