  1. Aside from Dogmeat, I think every canine follower I’ve had in Bethesda games is quite noisy. Does anyone else find this irksome?
  2. I read about a game called “Before Your Eyes” you control with blinking. It sounds gimmicky at first, but the more I read about it, the more the concept actually sounds amazing in context. What are some gimmicky vs. non-gimmicky weird controls you’ve seen in games?
  3. In another thread, we were discussing the ethical rules we hold ourselves to in real life. Do you usually follow the same rules when you play games, or do you break from them? I usually try to follow the same rules in games I want to IRL, as it 1-boosts immersion, and 2-serves as a way to train myself to do better at it IRL.
  4. What are the worst retcons you can think of in video games?
  5. I always have a lot of scroll clutter in Skyrim. I think I’ll use them, but I almost never do because they take so long to cast, and then you have to rearm. The Guardian Circle one is nice though. Do others use scrolls often, or find them inconvenient too?
  6. What are some games you feel don’t have respect for your time?
  7. The architecture reminded me of the Air Force academy cathedral in Colorado.
  8. I could list rules I want to live by, intend to live by, and believe in (i.e. a "stated" policy). But rules I actually have lived by? I'll be totally honest: none. Instead I will state my goal: freeing myself to be the person who can actually live by my stated rules.
  9. Sometimes I see people complain about long cutscenes with dialogue. Other times I see people complain about walking-and-talking. I suppose some people would prefer to skip dialogue altogether, especially in a second playthrough. But anyway, which do you prefer, and why? Honestly, I don’t mind either at all. The only thing that peeves me is if, during either, stuff is going on in the background that is noisy (i.e. combat) and then I miss what is being said in the foreground.
  10. Has anyone played a game called Before Your Eyes that you control with blinking? I keep seeing people say that it is amazing.
  11. What are the best fan fics, fan films, fan art or other fan-made content you have discovered for various games?
  12. Grinding in games tends to be described as either extremely monotonous or relaxing, depending on the person and the game. For you to enjoy grinding in a game and find it more relaxing than tedious, what needs to happen?
  13. I’m always amazed at the detailed reviews that show up for huge games within a day of their release. Seriously, how do reviewers cram in so much so fast?
  14. Did you ever take years off of an MMO, and then go back? What was it like? I took several years off a MUD once and went back, and I could hardly recognize the place. It no longer held the same appeal at all.
  15. I really want the full PS5, but I would settle for digital by this point. For those also shopping for a next gen console, would you settle for digital if you want the full version?
  16. I like how in Mass Effect, there is passage of time and various events trigger that circle back to earlier events, like minor characters from ME 1 having things play out in M3 based on your choices. I wish that Bethesda would integrate something like that into Fallout and ES games.
  17. What open world game do you feel has the most enjoyable/balanced blend of features and elements?
  18. What are some surreal video games?
  19. What game’s concepts of good and evil match your own most closely?
  20. I noticed an option to turn off/automate all choices in a game last night, and thought it weird. What is the appeal of such an option?
  21. When you play a game with choices, do you try to align fully good or evil based on the game’s moral system, or do you make choices that feel right to you?
  22. You know those paragon/renegade choices in cutscenes where you have to push L1/R1 in a hurry? Do you love them or hate them? I find them frustrating, but I do have to admit they mirror what it is like to have to make a split-second, high-pressure, confusing moral decision without time for full conscious thought.
  23. The whole time I was at the Lesuss Monastery in Mass Effect 3, I kept flashing back to BioShock 2. Then I realized the Banshees sound like the Big Sisters, and there are some deco influences in the architecture. Anyone else notice the parallels?
  24. You put perfectly into words something I always struggle to explain!
