  1. What are some boss fights that there was a lot of anticipation and build-up for, but then the fights were relatively easy?
  2. Are there discoveries you’ve made in any games that totally changed how you saw the game world? Like, after playing through the Soul Cairn in Skyrim, I can never see that entire universe the same way. It has such darkness underneath it.
  3. Are there any types of games you used to play a lot, but now haven’t played in many years? For me, it is MUDs.
  4. How do you feel about games where you can die permanently? Are your feelings about it different for single player vs multiplayer?
  5. What are the most realistic games you have played in terms of real-life type challenges? The first that comes to mind for me is a MUD which I think was called Armageddon with perma-death, multiple in-character languages, and other tough features.
  6. Sad fact: I only now finally understand where the idiom of "sixing" someone comes from. Thanks =D
  7. Excellent point. Even Skyrim automatically switches to third person to ride.
  8. Yeah, now I think I need to make a poll to see if we can find a correlation here or something! And yes, I love scenery in games. But if I'm in third person, I hate that I can't like ... walk up to a wall and look closely and directly at a picture on it, etc. In first person, I can get close to it to see the details. I'm okay with third person in TLOU because during combat, the camera moves fairly close to the character's body, and you are looking almost directly at the target in a natural way. Speed of the camera does seem relevant. If it is fast in third person, I get extra dizzy.
  9. I'm near-sighted, so that is interesting, actually! What's your thinking on how it would relate?
  10. So many times I thought how RDR was almost perfect except for being in third person. I am so happy!
  11. Funny you get dizzy in 1st person and I do in 3rd. And I did not know RDR2 has 1st person mode! I am excited!
  12. How do you feel about games that keep spawning endless enemies while you explore? This kind of drives me crazy, because it makes it hard to check out all the details of my environment (I’m looking at you, Bioshocks 1 and 2).
  13. In another thread, @The Blackangel mentioned finding first person problematic with respect to enemies sneaking up from behind. I don't mind being sneaked up on though. How does everyone here feel about it?
  14. I detest third person because it doesn't feel lifelike and real to me, it breaks my immersion, it is dizzying, and I can't examine small details in the environment. But I can let TLOU off the hook for it because it handles the angles well in combat and it almost feels like first person when it matters most. What are some other games that handle third person well?
  15. What is the fastest way for a game to break immersion for you? For me, just being in third person is usually enough.
  16. I lost Miranda’s loyalty and despite my ~85% Paragon level, the dialogue choice to fix it remains grayed out. I’m almost to the suicide mission, I think. Is there any way to salvage this in time?
  17. So, in Mass Effect 2, during an argument between Jack and Miranda, I sided with Jack, and now Miranda isn’t loyal. I just read anyone disloyal in ME2 is as good as dead, so that’s … bad. What are some similar small mistakes you have made in games that cost you big?
  18. What are your favorite roguelike games?
  19. What games do you enjoy the most from an exploration standpoint? For me, first person open world games like Fallout and Elder Scrolls rank high, but so do BioShock games. Despite being linear, they have so many amazing details to enjoy.
  20. Do you find it fun to explore in video games, or do you find it tedious? On the whole, it is one of my favourite aspects of gaming, and I love it—but sometimes it can be tedious in some games where there isn’t much to look at/do, just huge open spaces to cross.
  21. What is the absolute maximum amount of money you could picture spending on a video game, and what would compel you to spend that much?
  22. What are some installments in video game series that you really like that are not as popular with fans in general? For myself, I can list Dragon Age 2 and BioShock 2.
  23. What are some moments/revelations in video games that genuinely surprised you?
