Hahaha... Don't take this the wrong way, but this makes me think of George Carlin's talk about "saving the planet." He makes fun of the whole concept, but in a way is similar to what you're saying; he says that people don't really care about the planet itself but rather just having a "nice, clean place to live."

I would absolutely want to. I would hope it would eliminate some anxiety about my fear of death, and then I could plan my life around that information; If you know how long you're going to live, it's much easier to make realistic plans about what you would and would not like to do in your life and prioritize properly. Also, when the time gets close you can do things you probably wouldn't normally want to, like shoot up some heroin or something, because you don't have to worry about long term consequences.

Would you rather lounge by the pool or on the beach?
Steerminator replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
I'd choose to lounge by a pool with a view of the ocean 😄 -
I can and do beat any video game that I play (and like enough) through obsessive persistence, with a few exceptions (so far): Though I tried EXTREMELY hard, I haven't yet been able to beat Gradius 3 (PS2 version), and... ***SPOILER ALERT*** Rodin from Bayonetta 2 ***END SPOILERS*** It's been at least a few years since I tried either of these, but they are a couple of life goals for me (along with Gradius 4 and 5, which I haven't really tried yet). ***

I would never go just about anywhere for more than a few days without my computer, or at least my external hard drive, unless It was just not possible or practical. And I don't even have a labtop. I'm not a big phone person.

What are the best and worst parts of human nature?
Steerminator replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
For me, both the best and worst parts of being human is the creative imagination. There's no limit to the wondrous things we can dream up and manifest into reality, given enough time and innovation. On the flip side, there's no limit to the terrors we can dream up, both existentially and literally. -
I'd like to know too. I love me some lovecraft, but there are very few actual lovecraftian games that have ever really piqued my interest.

So does the increase in the quality match the size increase? Just how much better is this thing than its predecessor anyway?

Welll I don't really know. I've been playing video games since I was 5 years old, and I've been obsessed ever since. I'm the exact opposite of competitive, I play for my own enjoyment. But playing games always makes me feel good, and I know that, to me, video games are an extremely important part of my life. There's really not anything else I'd want to do more. So, yeah, I would say playing games and thinking about all the games I have played (and games I'm looking forward to playing in the future) makes me feel very good about myself.

I mean look at the definition: "the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence." No one is ever going to know everything about life, because there are an infinite number of things to learn. But the more you learn, or come to understand, about the world in a philosophical sense, the better off you're likely to be.

What do you miss most about your early days of gaming?
Steerminator replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I miss every game coming with instruction manuals. Whenever I get a new game I like to read through the instruction manual and look at the pictures and any background info on the characters/story that's in there. A lot of games still have them, but a lot of games also don't 😞 -
Not necessarily. I'm a really big fan of roleplaying in games, so If a game has many different paths that you can take depending on your choices, and also depending on the complexity of the system, I will often play through a game multiple times trying to roleplay as a different kind of person. Like, once be a pure hero, another time be a pure villain, other times be more neutral, and variations of those.

I only ever drink wine. I generally dislike the taste of beer and liquor, and when I drink a lot of them it doesn't agree with my stomach for some reason.

You ever hear the expression time is money? 😄 You definitely want some of both, but none of neither. You can't really do anything without free time, but you need money if you want, like, you own place to live and various other comforts. It goes without saying that the amount of money you need increases vastly the more people you want to support.

Do you situate your console horizontally or vertically?
Steerminator replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Is that a fact? I always position things horizontally because it just looks more natural to me. But if there's a logical reason why I should do it vertically instead, I should probably try to start doing that. -
I like the idea of a big party, but small gatherings seem to be a lot better the vast majority of the time. For me big parties inevitably end up with long periods of time standing around not knowing what to do, and also a bunch of awkward conversations with small groups of people that I don't know.

What’s the funniest TV series you have seen?

I think a lot of old arcade games were made without "being beaten" in mind (Do they even make arcade games anymore? I have no idea). Of course this makes sense, because those old ones like Galaga and Pac Man are very simplistic, and progression was, I think, typically measured more by one's score than how "far" they got. I remember my friend a long time ago telling me a story about how when they made the original version of Pac Man, the way it was programmed didn't allow for a person to get past the 255ish level, but they didn't give any thought to this because they figured no one would ever get that far (of course someone eventually did).

The only downside to getting stuff delivered is it costs more; if I could get stuff from any restaurant delivered without an extra expense, I'd never want to eat out 😄

This. Like, so many action/adventure type games from the NES and SNES/Genesis era are very challenging. The original Super Mario Bros. is pretty difficult if you try to beat it without warping straight to world 8. A few others that come to mind are Ninja Gaiden, Zelda 2, Ninja Turtles, most of the old Castlevanias and Mega Mans, Contra 3....
