Last weekend I watched a Norwegian documentary named Ibelin, and I loved it. I think it's quite an important film for gamers to watch, as it focuses on virtual friendships and relationships that I bet a lot of people here can relate to. Mats Steen was a young man who grew up in Norway with a muscular condition called Duchennes, that bound him to a wheelchair for most of his life. As he got older he lost more and more of his motor functions, and he sadly passed away at only 25 years old. Because of his condition, Mats spent most of life sitting in front of his computer playing video games, primaraly World of Warcraft. His parents we worried for him that he spent all his time inside his apparment and didn't have a social life at all, but after he passed away they learned that was not the case at all. I don't want to give too much away, but I highly, highly recommend watching it.

What is the best Cyberpunk-style game ever made?
Anders replied to Ok_Attempt's topic in Gaming Forum
I haven't seen anyone mention The Ascent yet, I had a pretty good time playing back when it came out. It's an isometric twin stick shooter with a focus on looting and gear, set in a cyberpunk city. Great game if you like Diablo-likes -
I wouldn't say I've used it a lot, but I have occasionally streamed from my Xbox to my laptop, with pretty solid results. I have a pretty fast internet connection, and a mesh network that gives me pretty good wifi coverage everywhere in my house, and at times I would say the experience was almost just as good as playing on the console itself. I probably wouldn't play anything that relies on split second reaction times, but for a game like Baldur's Gate 3, which is what I have mostly used it for, it works amazingly well.

I finally beat Baldur's Gate 3 last week! I put about 94 hours into it, and I loved every moment. It's truly one of the best games I have ever played. I was very satisfied with the ending I got, but it still felt kind of bittersweet knowing the adventure was over. I can definitely see myself replaying this game in a few years and going down a different path.

The first thing that comes to mind is a device called the Juicero, which got pretty famous around 2016 or so for being so incredibly stupid. It was markeded as a smart juice machine that would connect to your phone. What it actually was was a machine that you had to buy proprietary juice bags for, which you would then put into the machine, push a button in the app, and the machine would squeeze the juice out of the bag into your glass. That's literally all it did, you could 100% just squeeze the bag yourself and get the exact same result. Here's the kicker; the thing cost $400. To the shock of absolutely no one, the company went out of business less than a year and half later.

Game genres you were surprised to realize you enjoy?
Anders replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I bought Persona 5, really not knowing if it was my type of game. Neither the turn based combat or the visual novel style storytelling really appealed to me, but I really loved the art style, so I decided to give it a shot. Turned out I absolutely loved it. The combat is actually very good, and I really fell in love with the characters. -
I hoard them. I still have every single console I have ever owned, the idea of selling any of them is really unthinkable to me.

I would have to say at least 10-12 hours a day as well. I work 8 hours a day in front of a computer, and will usually spend several hours either in front of the TV or my computer when I get home, as well as all the time spent on my phone of course.

Do you have a room just for your video games? AKA a Game Room
Anders replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
Thank you! Most of the ones one the wall really are not that expensive, the camo one and the stickerbombed bass I both bought used for about $100 each, the accoustic was about $250, but the black and white Explorer was about $650 My two favorite guitars are these though. The were both around $500 when I bought them. I mostly play bass these days, as that is what I play in my band. I used to play guitar in a different band, but quit about two years ago. -

Not really game related, but here is also part of my vintage camera and vinyl collection, as well as the rest of my guitars and some signed posters by my favorite band -

I decided to do a little photoshoot of my office today! My desk: The couch and TV-area: My CRT and retro consoles: The view from the couch All of the drawers are full of games. The TV is not really at an ideal angle, but my plan is to get a better mounting solution when I get around to swapping out the TV My handheld collection: -
I'm currently playing Baldur's Gate 3. I haven't played the first two, and I really don't feel like I'm missing anything at all. It feels like a completely separate story, and although I'm sure there are some callbacks to previous games, there really are no references or characters that you won't recognize because you haven't played the others. I do however feel like the thing that helped me comprehend the game the best, was my previous experience with Dungeons & Dragons. It's absolutely not a requirement, but if you have played any D&D in the past, you will have a much easier time understanding the game's mechanics and world.

Do you have games in your library that you have not played?
Anders replied to Kennysplash's topic in Gaming Forum
Oh yeah, a bunch. I used to buy a lot of bundles, like Humble Bundle, so my Steam library is filled with a lot of stuff I'm not really that interested in playing, but got through a bundle. I'm also a game collector, and have quite a few physical games in my collection that I have never played. Some of them, I absolutely do intend on playing, but there are quite a few that I will probably never play. -
That's a sick car! I can imagine it must have felt amazing finally realizing your dream after 35 years My number one dream car is the DeLorean DMC-12. Can you guess what my favorite movie is? A few other on my dream wishlist include the Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari F40 and De Tomaso Pantera. Unfortunately all of these are super expensive sports cars, so I will never ever own any of them.

What's Your Most Memorable Multiplayer or Co-op Gaming Experience?
Anders replied to killamch89's topic in Gaming Forum
My fondest multiplayer memories are all couch co-o. Back in around 2012 og 13, I had recently moved into my first appartment. My girlfriend (now wife) was out of town for a weekend, so two of my friends came over and brought their Xbox 360s and an extra TV. I already had two TVs, so we set up three TVs and three Xboxes in my tiny living room and played Dead Island all night. Another time, probably also around 2013 or so, I was at a party at a friend's cabin, one of the same friends mentioned before. Diablo 3 had just come out for the 360, and we played 4 player couch co-op for hours. We made four characters, but would rotate out players. Great memories! -
I just got a Pixel 9 Pro XL, and I'm really happy with it. That is, I was really happy with it, I don't actually have it anymore. There was an issue with the camera on my unit, so I had to return in. They didn't have a new one in stock, so I'm getting a new one later this week.

What's Your Favorite Tech-Related Hobby?
Anders replied to killamch89's topic in Technology & Gadgets
Besides gaming, obviously, I would have to say 3D printing. I got a 3D printer back in april after wanting one for years, and I absolutely love it. There are millions of 3D models you can download and print, but for me, the real fun has been learning som basic 3D modeling and designing my own things. So far I haven't really made anything that complicated, but It really is amazing to see a problem around your house, and a few hours of modeling and printing later, having the solution in your hand. Part of the hobby has also been collecting different kinds of 3D printing filament, which is the actual spools of plastic you use to print. There are a bunch of different materials that have different use cases, and thousands of different colors. -
Do you like being able to highlight the path?
Anders replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
My favorite implementation of this feature is Ghost of Tsushima. If you swipe the touchpad on the PS4 controller, a gust of wind will blow in the direction of your next objective. Really intuitive, but at the same time subtle -
Not really that strange, and I don't really know if I would necessarily call it merch, but my favorite piece of video game memorabilia that I own is probably my Playstation sign. I got it about 10 years ago when a local store that sold music, movies and games shut down. I asked the owner if he would sell it to me, but he actually gave it to me for free. It now sits right beneath my TV in my office/game room.

I'm definitely gonna play this game at some point, it sounds really fun. I listened to the latest episode of The Besties podcast this morning where they talked about it, and Russ Frushtick said it might be the best platforming game he's ever played, period. That's pretty high praise.

What games did you miss because of dial-up back in the day?
Anders replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I remember picking up copy of City of Heroes at the closest store that sold games, which was about 20 minutes away, getting home, and then realizing it was an MMO. We had dial up, so there was no way I could play it. I was pretty bummed, but luckily I was able to go back to the store and exchange it for a copy of Knights of the Old Republic 2. -
What's the biggest and best deal you got on a video game or game lot?
Anders replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
The best single deal I ever got was a few years ago when I picked up a Gameboy Advance with a copy of Super Street Fighter 2 in it for $4 at my local thrift store. The GBA was in great condition too, just needed a little bit of cleaning. -
Personally I don't read many physical books, I almost exclusively read on my Kindle, but my wife collects books. She has a lot more than we have room for in our current bookshelf, so I am planning on making some custom built in shelving in our living room. I guess that would kind of count as a library

I absolutely LOVE Vampire Survivors. According to Steam I have put about 35 hours into it, and considering I payed $3 for it, that's about $0,08 per hour of gameplay, pretty insane value for money if you ask me. It's a really simple game, gameplay wise, but as you progress and unlock more characters and weapons it gets slightly more complex to put together different builds. It's the perfect game to play if you have half an hour to kill, and when you finally get that awesome build it just feels so damn satisfying to mow down thousands of enemies. I highly recommend giving it a try.

It's honestly facinating how badly they managed to fuck this game up. They were just way too late to the party in my opinion, hero shooters just are not as relevant as they were when they started development of this game, and I definitely don't thing the poor launch of Overwatch 2 did them any favors. I do really feel bad for the development team though. Imagine dedicating 8 years of your life to a game that gets axed after only being on the market for 2 weeks. Must be pretty devastating.
