  1. When I was in school, a game competition was organized for fun. Everyone was so surprised when the school principal picked a controller and played a racing game with another student. He was not exactly a novice, his skills showed that he plays it often. We were all surprised and excited at the same time. I guess that’s the kind of feeling it emanates.
  2. No doubt, everyone of us have those games that we just cannot push through to the end. We don’t feel it and we just move on to the next one quickly. But is it something you do often, that it has become consistent? The only game I didn’t see to the end is NFS (most wanted). There are just a lot of missions and levels for a game that can be monotonous. Save for the multiplayer though. Do you have games that you quit halfway? Why?
  3. Would you say that this is in a good or bad way? I just want to know if it’s just me or there are others that see the media’s effect on gaming as negative. It just has done some damage to the amazing and exciting gaming experience we used to have.
  4. So that what you are using as a therapy does not become another problem, that needs therapy. 😅 Have someone that you are accountable for or that guides you, it might not really work if you undergo it yourself.
  5. It was way long in the past, can’t really remember the year. I was given a Sega with some cartridges. I was so excited that I called my friends in the neighborhood and we played throughout the festive season. Super Mario was such a single player hit back then.
  6. Someone new to gaming approaches you and ask for recommendations on what games to start playing first. I started by playing super Mario on Sega, something non complex. I would advise that too, possibly Tetris as well. From there they can figure out their choice and what to move on to. I would not want to suggest a complex game which can pose a great challenge or leave them confused. What would you do?
  7. Say, about 15 years ago there was little about games on the internet. If you are stuck on a level you have to either ask your friends how to go about it or figure it out yourself, which makes it all more exciting. That is totally different now. If stuck, anyone can just go online and watch a few minutes video to learn how to advance. It’s all a search away. Does this not ruin gameplay experience? Besides, we get more snippets of these games online before they are released. Although we can say that it builds anticipation, still it eventually reduces our excitement when we get these games. That’s because we sort of know what to expect, thanks to the media. What is your opinion on the effect of the media on gaming?
  8. Storylines makes you feel the game, not just play it. You will be well involved, most especially if it’s a story that you can relate with. A good story makes it worthwhile, even exciting.
  9. That should be $18 to have a few games installed on my PS 3. Yes, not just one game but about three of them. I got them at giveaway prices though, good deal.
  10. Yesterday I played FIFA on playstation. It was actually with friends, since we are much we organized a cup competition. Please don’t ask, I didn’t go far in the comeback.
  11. Can streamers make much money? I never really game it much thought, I know many stream games but I didn’t think it’s one avenue to make money. Well I suppose there is no loss in trying it out. But if we are talking about big money, like how much are we looking at?
  12. You made me remember the last time I made a clip. I used it to show a technician the lags I was getting in the game, not really for any kind of show.
  13. I remember those kind of parties. There would even be like a demo session that is played by chosen members of the audience. This is just to show a snippet of what is to come. But that is no longer valued today since the media show us everything before the games are released.
  14. Simulator games involve more of cognitive exertion. You have to think well before you make your next move. You also have to be deeply involved if you would go far in the game. It can be boring sometimes, and not what I can play for long hours. Still I think something I would enjoy. “Myst” is an example, you are stuck on an Island and you need to solve a series of puzzles to escape.
  15. My thought is The Matrix. The movie is packed with exciting action and fight scenes. And if possible the unique visual effects too, just epic. I really want to see that in video game.
  16. Exactly my thoughts, the fact that I shoot cops does not mean I would get a gun and start doing the same in reality. It’s a game, he just took it too far. The police are being shot at in movies, I wonder what he has to say to that.
  17. Have we all not experienced this as kids? There was a time I missed school just to stay at home and play. Parents were out of town for a week, I woke up one morning and loaded the game instead of preparing for school. School called my parents that I was absent and I can never forget the discipline I received. That experience still being smiles to my face whenever I remember it.
  18. So you mean you are more excited now than when you were younger? That means you have a way of keeping yourself engaged and immersed, maybe that is what I actually lost. I do miss the old days though.
  19. Perhaps due to absence of responsibility, or the novelty of gaming, I would be so excited to play Prince of Persia after school, and then the next day we boys would gather together and discuss it at length. Or is it the thrill of gathering to play multiplayer games? Even the thought of having a game waiting for you can have me excited throughout the day. But I don’t get those anymore. Maybe I have grown so used to it, hence the lesser excitement. Or there are bills to sort out now. If you were to compare now to when you were a teenager, do you still get the same excitement you got then?
  20. I have really sweaty palms, it even drips when they’re folded. Usually it’s the X button on the controller that stops working, since I press it the most. I now have a towel handy when I play though.
  21. How do you treat sore thumbs? We are on break for the festive season already, so yesterday I played different games throughout. NFS, Winning Eleven, GTA… Later in the night I felt pain on my right thumb, and it’s quite sensitive. I can barely use it to do anything till this present moment. Has it happened to you before? How does it heal quickly?
  22. Perhaps if they can be connected to human brains and carry out the moves we think? Kidding. They can be made water proof. I am sweaty, and most times my consoles get damaged due to my sweat being pressed inside. Once it was even damaged by literal water. 😁
  23. I don’t understand though, so who still buy and play those 90s games for it to be worth that much? If I am to do that with games that are 12 years old now I would probably get a handshake for the pawn shop. Even if they’re kept as souvenirs, wow.
  24. I would say the original Doom. It was such a groundbreaking first-person shooter then and it pushed the boundaries of what was possible in video games. The FPS genre was made popular by doom.
  25. That is true as well. But what is the point in playing a game where you are stuck? There is this sense of achievement I get when I complete a mission or level. In that sense, if all had been going wrong the whole day that can help me feel better.
