It's been about a week that i have not played any videogames which feels actually suprisingly good, can't say i even miss playing video games at this moment. It is also a personal milestone that proves that i am not addicted to videogames which some of the people around me acussed me of. I got a lot of stuff done during that 7 day period that i've been putting off for like forever which i'm happy about. Finally got around building some new shelves for my gameroom and moved a chunck of my collection out of my parents place which in turn i've been putting off for a couple of years because i was too lazy to build some decent shelves. I've done some spring cleaning, re-arranged my attic, etc. Hell yeah i finally feel like a real adult. Now if you'll excuse me *pushes submit reply button and turns on console*

Short answer : No i don't have any pets. Long answer : I'd love to have a dog but i feel like currently i woulden't be able to give it the love, care and attention a pet would deserve. I work nights and sleep in 2 parts once a couple of hours during the day and a couple of hours in the evening before i go to work. I don't want to keep a dog that has to sit around home alone 2/3 of the day because i don't have time for it, it just doesen't feel right to me.

What (real) cities would be coolest settings for open world games?
Yaramaki replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
There's a couple i can think of that would be great : Amsterdam would be a cool one for a change, a city with so many lore and history, needless to say it's quite a beautiful city that would probably work best if it's set into the years 1588-1672 during the Dutch golden age. The entire Nagano Prefecture in japan would also be a good one for a racing game, narrow mountain passes for touge racing combined with beautiful nature and ancient japanese architecture for a relaxing experience, you could do a lot worse as a setting for a forza horizon game. If we think outside the box the Nagano Prefecture would be an awesome place for just about any open world game, why not a farming game with exploration and management elements. A life simulator where you are on vacation and can do various activities and go explore the area with the moto the days are yours go do something fun and relaxing something ala the Boku no Natsuyasumi series. -
Which "PS5 Limited Edition" Version Wold You Like to See?
Yaramaki replied to Gonassis's topic in Playstation
It be stupid to release a limited editon console when it's damn near impossible for people to just get a regulair version at normal retail price. Because you know these limited editions would most likely be scooped up like crazy by scalpers and in turn being offered on the secondary market for twice the price and that would anger/dissapoint people even more who really just want to have a ps5. -
Games that are less than the sum of it's parts?
Yaramaki replied to NightmareFarm's topic in Gaming Forum
I had to google what the "less than the sum of it's parts" means and i'm still not 100% sure what it means exactly but i'll try to do my best to cover a few games combined over a couple of posts. I apologize in advance that It may not be as in depth or as good as @Withywarlock posts but the least i can do is help out and keep this thread alive. Let's start with an obvious choice : Mafia III ( Hangar 13/2k games 2016 ) Mafia series has always been a favourite of mine, albeit the first 2 games are mosly linear in an open world city as there is little to no exploration possible in both games. The strength in both games were always the story, fun and varied missions, great likeable characters you know the sorta things you expect from a mafia game. Mafia 3 takes another route by going full blown open world because that is what all the games tend to to these days but boy in my humble oppinion New bordeaux is still one of the best open worlds to mess around with it, it's bursting with life, different communities in different disctricts, the 60 ies atmosphere shines trough and trough and you really feel like you are into late 60 ies. The story is top notch and has great production value, if you haven't played it i'm not going into details about the story, but's all about revenge and you're pretty much a man army kinda like a 60 ies John rambo. There are some really likeable characters like Donovan and that priest who's name eludes me sadly just to name a few. However the main character Lincoln Clay is as boring and generic as possibly can be, this is the first thing of critique that stands in the way of the game being a modern classic as you never feel really connected to the main character. Musicwise you'll get greeted by jimmy hendrix on the title screen so you just know it coulden't get any better then this. Killing dudes on the tunes of Creedence clearwater revival, the animals or even the rolling stones it never gets old. Just look at the sountrack and judge for yourself. Let's talk about the exellent combat it's brutal and there is a real sense of satisfaction when you kill everybody the stealth way with a rambo-esque knife, the gameplay is top notch, pretty much your cover/shoot affair nothing wrong with that. Guns handle well and each feel unique to handle. The cars feel heavy they way it should be and the handling is one of the better i've seen in open world games. There are some of greatest collectibles i've seen in any video game like album covers, playboy centerfolds, hot rod magazine you know items you would go out of your way to get. Now here is where "are less than the sum of it's parts" is in place. The whole premise of the game is to take over new bordeaux district by district, things you have done a million times already in ubisoft games. Not only that but the missions are repetitive and are just plain boring after a while and you just force yourself to continue playing because of the great story. You go on all this effort to make 90% of the game a potential modern classic just to was it all with these boring activities and missions why oh why hangar 13. I haven't played any of the mafia III dlc so this is just the base game i'm talking about. Also it's been a while like 5+ years since i played the game so apoligies if i forgot to cover anything in particulair, since this was the first title that came to my mind, figured i'd give it a go. -
Nintendo does it all the time when they sucked the wii u dry of it's exclusives and nobody seemed to mind that and nintendo knows damn well they can get away with it because nintendo fans happily open their wallets and pay full price again. I personally don't mind it aslong it's priced accordingly and it has all the dlc incluced on the disc but even then i'll probably hold off until it goes on sale.

Gaming wise probably donating 1500$ to the shenmue 3 kickstarter campaign, if only i had known how the game would have turned out in the end i woulden't have kickstarted so much money but ohwell. Other then gaming spending 500 bucks on an ipad that i've used maybe a handfull of time before giving it to my dad who in turn got hooked on the damn thing.

Do you believe men and women can ever just be friends?
Yaramaki replied to DC's topic in General Chat
Thanks for sharing that story are you still close with the girl? It's weird to say this but i'll take friendship over love anytime a day, because true friendship is one of the few things in the world money can't buy. -
@Justin11 Man don't let me stop you, no by all means if you are comfortable with it go for it i'm not going to judge you if fall for older women and to be honest it's nobodys business away. It's just i find this fascinating to read that is all. You know since we're sharing stories when i was about 18 i had a crush on the mom of one of my classmates, late 30 ies you're typical milf and divorced, she was such a caring and loving person and would help us out the best she could, that i was starting to think damn she is the perfect woman for me, i kind off started hanging out with her son more often, we eventually became good friends and after a few months i finally had the courage to say how awesome she was, she was flattered and diden't believe me at first but let me tell you we did share some good intimate well quite a few moments together for like a year but it's just felt not right maybe when i was little older it would have worked out but you know that is how life is. I know all this is probably awkward to share on a public forum but eh fuck it.

You know in the xbox version of skyrim you can use mods, judging by that comment you diden't no biggie, you know now. Ps4 version also supports mods but not nearly as much as the xbox versions because of sony their "policies ". Needless to say the best way to play skyrim these day on consoles would be the skyrim 10th anniversary edition on next gen hardware. Not really sure if it's worth forking over 40/50 bucks again for it, especially since the xbox one and ps4 version can be had for half that price.

Do you believe men and women can ever just be friends?
Yaramaki replied to DC's topic in General Chat
I think male and female could be friends but it's going to be difficult especially when you're in a relationship and the fact people tend to get jaleous pretty fast. I was going to post something similar, one of my best friends is female she is a couple of years younger then me and we used to go hiking together all the time. The first thing she told me when we met is that she was into women. I never made a problem of that why would i and at the time i had no interest in a relationship at all and i was more interested in having a hiking buddy anyway. We've been on hiking trips together were it was just to two of us for a week or two, i've seen her naked multiple times, we slept in the same bed more times then i can count and not once has it crossed my mind to have sex with her for the simple reason i value friendship over a relationship. She even called me out for it once, now you had your chance and you diden't make a move. I always felt like it would destroy our friendship if we did. Obviously when i started dating again a couple of months ago it was kinda hard to explain that my best friend is a 28 year old lesbian, but she's cool with it now. -
RTS games for beginners? Preferably available on consoles
Yaramaki replied to Yaramaki's topic in Gaming Forum
I never understood why microsoft hasen't bothered yet to port age of empires over to xbox, it would be a good to have that on there. I know age of empires had ps2 ports that were okay and correct me if i'm wrong had a ds port aswell. Anyway i played of few hours of civilization vi the other day and i'm having a good time with it, it's not overly complex to understand and i can see getting addicted to it. I'll probably start picking up a couple more strategy/management games in the future there are quite a few on consoles and i'm sure i can get some on the cheap. Frostpunk has peaked me curiosity has anybody played this doesen't matter wheter it's on pc or console? -
This has to be in contest for post of the year ah @Justin11 and his infinite wisdom 😄 But you're right tough, when i was your age i also woulden't have minded dating a 35-40 year old milf with fake tits. If i was single i woulden't mind dating a woman that is 5-10 years older, the only downside is when you are getting older is that age can become an issue. Don't know about how much younger i would go, maybe 5 at most as I just don't want to date a chick that is addicted to her phone. I'm already in that boomer territory so it woulden't work out anyway if i would go with any younger.

Has anyone here ever ended up with a bricked console?
Yaramaki replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
My first xbox one got bricked due to lightning and a power outage. Well i should say the power supply was bricked but when i put it back into a power socket the console started smoking. I toke my anger out on it with a big hammer and smashed the damn thing. At my grand parents place we had a master system and one day her dog found it necessary to urinate/piss on the console, needless to say the master system diden't make it lol. -
I normally stay out these nominations because I feel like by nominating someone, i'm going to disappoint other people and i'm sorry about that but since i won last month i'll make an exception. I'll nominate @Crazycrab his posts are spot on and well worth reading, i usually share the same oppinion as him and seems like an overall nice person where you could have a deep conversation with in real life over a couple of beers and dare i say some seafood, nah i diden't say that lol.

Do you think games are too expensive nowadays?
Yaramaki replied to Martin Berisford's topic in Gaming Forum
Well you know how kids are give them 20 bucks to spend and it will be gone in a few minutes. The major problem is that many parents don't seem to give a fuck about it and just buy these damned cosmetic things for their kids to keep them happy. If this shit continues kids who are now growing up will find these practises the new standard in games. I'll admit before i started dating again i never overly cared about any of this, you know it diden't bother me because i stayed away from all that free to play crap nonesense and eh i'm from oppinion why should i bother with something that doesen't really concern me. What i would like is to talk to adult(s) who are spending a lot of money on cosmetic items and hear their part of the version maybe it will help me understand things even more. So if anyone here feels like they fit the bill and want to talk about it, let's have a serious chat about it, i'm not going to call you out for it because it's your money afterall not mine, just like to hear the logic behind it. Owyeah i did watch that video last night, well explained and detailed. I never thought about some gaming aspects that way but in the end as devs no matter how you present your game, you want to make money. You know i'm glad i'm not the only one who feels that way, that is from seeing about 5-6 hours of gameplay my first impression was these skins are a status symbol for kids and good to know i was right. It felt weird to think about it that way but you know relieved to say i'm not going crazy. You don't have to convince me that fortnite is the cancer off the videogaming industry, i already know just millions of other people don't. -
My grandparents had a static caraven trailer (is that what you call it in english) in Luxembourg near a little town called Vianden we would stay there every once in a while during the year and it's always a relaxing place beautiful hiking trails, nature, just being away from busy life in general, as a kid it was also nice that my parents actually had some time to do stuff with me, because they were always way too busy with their jobs. My parents loved the place so much they and maybe it's out of nostalgia i don't know, they bough a more modern caravan/ living trailer (whatever you want to call it) at the exact same camping spot, so whenever i have a couple of days off, i go there to relax and be away from everithing, just go out hiking, go fishing and enjoying some time off as in just recharging my batteries you know. It's about a 3 hours drive from where i live, i know for american people the distance is peanuts but for europeans that's quite a long time to drive somewhere. If i ever had a dream then let it be buying a house there when i'm able to retire and live the good life during retirement.

Anybody else had this problem where even if you have the time to sit down and play games for a couple of hours you just don't feel like doing? I'm going trough such a phase right now i think, played watch dogs 2 and legion back to back probably shoulden't have done that, i started playing trough the story of the "next gen" version of gta 5 and play a mission or two i just shut the game off and do something else, while it's still one of the best games ever made i'm not really feeling it right now. I don't know what the problem is with this kind of weather i much rather go out hiking whenever i possible can which is my other main hobby. I got burned out on collecting video games a few times where i take a break from buying anything for a few months but with gaming i never really had this problem. I'm currently installing civilization vi as i haven't played an rts in ages, in hopes it gets me stoked again on gaming.

Do you think games are too expensive nowadays?
Yaramaki replied to Martin Berisford's topic in Gaming Forum
I'm going to bring this up again because the past few weeks i've been experiencing the dark side of gaming aka fortnite first hand and no i diden't play it myself. I was going to post this in @kingpotato is it wise to spend on free to play thread but you locked it and probably for good reason because it was a cesspool. Why i'm bringing this up again because i have to change my oppinion and i'm man enough to admit that i've been wrong.I've been blinded by just bargain hunting and sales for mostly single player games and how long they take to complete vs how long a game from 25 years ago last as argument. So yeah @Shagger you're right and you know the past few weeks have opened my eyes completly if you care to read a little longer i'll explain below : The past two saturday afternoons i sat down with my girlfriend her 10 year old son. Who needless to say is addicted to fortnite, i'll admit i know nothing about fortnite other then that it's free to play and that it's pretty much everywhere. The game looks fine and all, it's not something i would play personally but taste differ, i just wanted to know more about how far this whole free to play thing goes, what better way to watch a kid play and ask some stuff along the way. Now i don't know if this is the case with every kid but having these rare skins is like a sign of wealth aka feeling better then a kid who doesen't play as a rare paid skin and that disgusts me. The fact that my gf her son was called out by his "friends" for having a socalled louzy skin that he has been using for months made me pissed. It's like these skins are more important then the game itself. You know kids can be really harsh for eachother, we have all been there. I obviously tried to cheer him up but you know the kid has been trough some harsh times, lost his dad when he was 4 and is pretty much raised alone by my girlfriend for the past 6 years. I felt bad for him and In all my stupidity i said fuck let's one up on your friends and tell me what skin do you want the most, fucking 20 bucks in v-bucks or whatever it's called for a cosmetic skin. The little dude was chuffed to bits and i want to be on his good side if i want this relationship to succeed. Obviously it only costed me 20 bucks the be the socalled most awesome person ever in his oppinion but to me it felt like selling my soul to the devil. And that is why i changed my oppinion, could have been phrased a little shorter but you know can't leave the details out. -
No i don't hate any platforms as each platform has their positives and negatives. I'm not the biggest sony guy because i find them arrogant but i still end up buying their products. A few months ago i would have said i hate the ps3 but after a few weeks fiddling around with it again, i must admit it's a way better machine then i remember with some truly great games i missed out on the first time around, it's like heaven if you are a fan of the more niche jrpgs. I don't like the dual shock 3 tough, it should have been heavier imo. I do however if i'm allowed to go a bit offtopic hate one particulair community and that is the Neo Geo community. Which in all honesty are just a bunch washed up middle aged men who act like they were around day one and feel the need to point that out every time when they get the chance and verbally attack anybody who doesen't share the same oppinion. It's just that elitist bullshit gets on my nerves.

Also you don't really drive a car in road 96, the closest thing you'll get it to pushing left and right to avoid traffic when you're on the run from the cops.

RTS games for beginners? Preferably available on consoles
Yaramaki replied to Yaramaki's topic in Gaming Forum
Ohyeah i forgot about xcom good call. I've been thinking about getting crusader kings 3 but not sure it seems really too deep for my taste as i'm afraid i woulden't have a clue what would be going on, also where would i even get the time to master it. Rust is another one i've always want to try, i should probably hold off until i can get them for cheap. How is civilization vi is it noob friendly? i've got a copy sitting sealed on my shelf so might aswell start with that one as i remember having a good time with civilization revolution on the 360. Overall guess i'm more the build up a city and manage it type of person, something ala Tropico and Cities skyline. Not really sure if those can be even classified as rts games, i'd personally would put these under management sims, but list on google tell me otherwise. -
I want to get back into the genre as i haven't played an Rts games in like 10 years. What would be some good real time strategy games to begin with, i'm kind of looking for something that is a more laid back experience. So what are some noob friendly rts games avaible on console?
-
the dreamcast sold very well in japan especially in it's first few years. also don't forget that the dreamcast libary of games is as big as the japanese gamecube and japanese og xbox combined consider the fact the console was supported in japan up until 2006 it coulden't have done that badly. The mega drive also diden't too bad in japan but it was outsold by the super famicom and the pc engine, i'd say there is nothing to be ashamed off being outsold by both those consoles. Now back to the topic, i had a saturn when it was around i was a sega kid at the time and have found memories of the console, like in the late 90 ies stores were dumping their games for next to nothing, i remember picking up a copy of panzer dragoon sage for like 15 euros alongside a shining force game who's name eludes me for now. I'd say from a nostalgic point of view sega rally and daytona usa or my favourite games on the system. I've collected on and off for the japanese saturn over the years with the aim of getting a full set, i have stalled around 850 ish games, if i woulden't get sidetracked all the time i might have completed it by now. I just can't get myself around to it by having to chip away on all these sports and mahjong games. while i do have nearly all the good and rare games including some not for sale stuff like delisoba deluxe, eyeful home and heim waltz to just to name a few. Maybe i will pick up saturn collecting again in the near future.
