  1. It would add a lot more decision making if the world in a open world game wasn't build around your character, like when you get mission to save somebody, you should have x amount of time to do it before that character gets killed or relocated or hell why not even join the kidnappers . Same with haveing to intercept something like a convey should have x amount of time when the convoy reaches it's destination and you fail the mission. In games like Kingdom come deliverance you could miss quite a few quests that way, because they show up on the map and if you don't accept them when they become avaible and do them in timely matter you could fail. Like one quest is about helping an executioner but you have to complete it within a week because he can stall the execution for maximum a week, another quest i can remember is where you have to find a remedy for a sick village and if you don't do it in time possible everybody can die and you fail the quest. Great game btw. To get back to @StaceyPowers question if they add in a sense of urgency in open world games imo it would add a lot more realism into the game knowing that world isen't build around the main character and side characters go on about their ways or could have done things completly different, needless to say it would encourage a second or multiple playtroughs knowing you have missed a bunch stuff into the game, i also feel like you could add in morale system more effective this way like if you fail a bunch of quests you're no longer welcome in a certain town or village or maybe even better if you fail to reach a town in a certain time frame that's been plagued by sickness all people could die and the entire town could be a ghost town because you diden't make it in time, leaving you out of a bunch of side quests that way.
  2. I've seen WWE 2K22 already on sale for like 25 bucks here and there, i'm tempted to get it myself but i've got no interest in modern wrestling and imo wrestling clinges way too much on the past rather then look to the future like why is Rey Mysterio on the cover, surely it's because he has a showcase mode in the game but come on you coulden't add a female wrestler or somebody younger on the cover in there. Lol we are 5 answers in and nobody has answered @Heatman his question so guess i'll be the first to answer. Mine has never been that spectaculair but i usually went for the Michinoku Driver or a full nelson slam back when i still played wrestling games.
  3. Exellent post @Crazycrab , diden't know you were into F1? Maybe we should open up a thread and discuss F1 both past and present. Ayrton Senna was pretty much the only idol i ever had, after he passed away, like i don't know nobody really worthy that came close for me to call somebody my idol. I don't really follow moto gp that much anymore but I probably should have mentioned the death of Marco Simoncelli During the 2011 malaysian Motogp grand prix in my first post aswell, since i've seen that one live on tv aswell and was without a doubt was my favourite motogp driver at the time because of his aggressive and sometimes dangerous driving style. Probably would have been a future moto gp champion aswell but sadly we'll never know. But damn what a horror crash i just don't want to see ever again.
  4. I guess it's something natural when you're kid you're bound to get a ball of some sort and since football is the most populair sport every kid pretty much plays it. So you have pretty much no other choice then to join in. Over here you get gym class from the age 4 i think, so naturally you'll get introduced into different kinds of sports early on. I've always loved baseball as a kid but it's not a sport that get's practiced a lot here, same with hockey we got to play that a couple of times in elemantory school but back then it wasen't populair and it's only in the past few years it's become more and more populair. Other things i've always enjoyed as a kid was dodge ball which i was pretty good at and volleyball same thing i was pretty good at it well much better then football. Skateboarding was also my jam when i got a bit older eventough i was probably the best skater from my group of friends since i was the only one who could do a kickflip and heelflip but for some skateboarding was more about hanging out rather then skating, but i gave up on it when i started working and everybody i knew quited anyway.
  5. I can only agree with the fact that if that neymar transfer diden't happen transfer prices woulden't have been so bonkers as to what they are now maybe a little over 100 million would have been the record. In the end was he really worth 222 million, i doubt it now here and there rumours pop up Psg wants to get rid off him. This is where the problem lies with psg they have on paper one of the best teams in the world if not the best team in the world but nearly all their players have big egos, surely neymar, mpabbe and messi aren't going to run one meter too much if they don't have to, i see them seldom helping to defend. This is why they have not won the champions league, because apart from a few players like marquinhos nobody has that over my dead body mentality. Psg has made the same mistake real madrid made in the early 2000's you have a dressing room full of overpaid stars that all have big egos and unless the coach is exellent at people managing you're never going to get all those egos on the same line. I'm actually wondering how long it's going to take before the arab money is going to dry up, surely with Oil being less and less needed as the world is shifting to a greener future well in the years to come it's something that has been on my mind lately as i'd be surprised if any big football club would still be in the hands of a middle eastern business man who's main income source comes from oil in let's say 20-30 years.
  6. I don't really have a problem with this because i'm used to lack of exclusives on xbox and as it looks now Sony doesen't seem to have all that much exclusive content coming either this year. Well nothing that interest me much anyway. Those smaller titles you listed could turn out to be suprisingly good and become future classics but who knows, guess only time will tell.
  7. I feel like is should write up on this but personally hating is the wrong word to use disliking is more appropriate, why would you "hate" a platform if you have never played it much to get a decent oppinion on it or don't even own it. I know many people hate on something just because they can't afford it or own it themselves, like i could hate on Ferrari but firstly i've never driving on and secondly i can't afford a ferrari and probably never will it does that mean i have to hate ferrari no. Yeah the duke was kind of an awful controller and inspiration was probably gotten from those bulky late 90 ies pc controllers but they later replaced it with the much better s controller but would you hate a platform just for that? After only a couple of hours experiencing the og xbox, i see many people hating on the gamecube aswell, sure when it was around it was more the kids console and the xbox and ps2 were for the cool guys but come on man it has the most classics out of any of the 4 consoles that generarion. The Gc controller is the most comfortable controller out of the 4 consoles that generation, it may seem weird at first but give it some time and you'll see it's an exellent controller even to play wii games well the ones that support the gc controller. Like The atari jaguar gets slammed all the time for it's awfull controller and by all means it's big and bulky and you could call your local pizza or chinese restaurant with it if you want but to me it feels suprisingly comfortable. Definatly not the worst controller out there, if only the jaguar had more then 5 games worth owning.
  8. I normaly don't post into these sections as politcs is not really something i wish to discuss online but i do have a question for people who live into the Uk now with Boris Johnson gone, What would be the odds that the Uk joins the European union again or if not could a free trade agreement with europe be on the cards again when somebody else becomes prime minister?
  9. May 1st 1994, F1 grand prix of San marino seeing as an 8 year old, ayrton senna crash live on tv only to hear a few hours later he died in the hospital of his injuries.
  10. Well i to stick to the topic, The beauty of football is that a much smaller team can beat a bigger team on a good day. No matter how much money you have in theory Man city can lose to a club like Leeds or newly promoted Fullham on any given day. It happens less and less these days but it still happens wherest in a sport like F1 If somebody has the best car in the field fat change they will be competing for victories on a regulair basis. The thing is Football clubs and especially english clubs are becoming more and more a play thing for the extreme rich to dumb their money in. Offcourse there is nothing wrong with that aslong they are commited to the club they own but what if they start losing interest or things don't go the way they want and here lies the problem many owners want to see immidiate results and if that doesen't happen they back out and leave the club in debt.
  11. Pretty much there own fault if you ask me and to be honest barca diden't deserve anything better. If you look at there piss poor transfer business from the last few years like For example coutinho his transfer from liverpool to barcelona is still the third most expensive transfer ever, Griezmann transfer to barca is the 5th highest, coutinho they dumped out of the door for next to nothing same thing will happen to Griezmann. Also while i'm taking a dumb at barcelona how can we forget Ousmane Dembélé 8th highest transfer fee paid, fat change he walks out for free if barca fails to agree on a new contract.
  12. It's published by Nacon and the fact it's not a full priced game, i woulden't get my hopes up high. It definatly peaked my interested but it's likely going to be a game that will go on sale pretty fast so i'll hold off on it until that happens.
  13. Well a few more recent games that came to my mind that fit the bill perfectly. Obviously i could list a buch of older games but it's in my oppinion disrespectful to slam on a 20+ year old game say that it's dated. Vampyr -> Wait did anybody ever played this game? It's a game by dotnod of life is strange fame, released in 2018. Obviously you play as a newly-turned vampire doctor called jonathan morgan. It's a fairly unique game in the aspect you get stronger and level up faster if you kill npc's. For a vampire game that takes place in 1918 london it has everithing going for it, good dialogue, varied open world, likeable characters, that you get to know more and more over the course of the game (well unless you kill them). The only downside to the game is that is gameplay is just monotonous and boring, just not very fun to play. Should you play it well that's up to you, if you like a game with a great story with greatly written dialogue and characters and a strong emphasis on good vs evil (entire disctricts of london can go to shit if you kill to many people ) then yes by all means try it out. The good things outweight the mediocre gameplay. Shenmue III -> Dare i toke a dumb on shenmue III, ah fuck it hate me afterwards all you want. Obviously i've been meaning to write about this game in another thread but i may aswell do it here. I remember like it was yesterday Saturday 19th of may 2001, my mom drove me to the nearest game store and i could pick up a video game for my 15th birthday, offcourse i already made up my mind and got shenmue, she must have been extremly generous that day because i also got Wwf royal rumble that day. First things first the first shenmue is one of my favourite games of all time and made me fall in love with japanese culture and history in general and made me want to study the japanese language a few years later, it's also one of the reasons i started collecting japanese region games because i find them more interesting to own and usually have much better box art well retro games did, now it doesen't really matter because they all have the same box art anyway.. But i'm getting way off from the original subject. Offcourse i played shenmue 2 a few years later but on the og xbox instead of the dreamcast and while hong kong does not have the same charm as a small villiage in rural japan or yokohama harbour. It was a great albeit sometimes frustrating experience. Fast Forward E3 2015 on sony's e3 show Yu suzuki came up on stage announcing a kickstarter campaign for shenmue III, offcourse my mind was blown and i always said i woulden't mind paying 1000 bucks for a third game and i just did that because when Yu suzuki asks for money to create a game that is what you do, give him your money. Yu suzuki is a developer i put on the same height as Shigeru Miyamoto maybe just a slight bit higher because i favoured sega instead of nintendo. Now let's finally get around talking maybe i should just delete all the above since i went on a nostalgia trip. Right let me put on my rose tinted glasses for this one, Shenmue III is one of these rare games that makes you feel like you are in this case 1980 ies china and that is where it's strength lies, the atmosphere alongside likeable characters and the fact you can talk to just about anybody. The story is great and some side activities are fairly interesting to do but offcourse it woulden't be a shenmue game that it would be frustrating at times and this is where some questionable design choices come into play, you are always strapped for cash in the first part of game you are either forced to gamble for money or cut wood in a mediocre mini game. Choice is up to you, you can also pick flowers and sell them if you can gather a full set but i can't really remember if i ever got around to do that. I gambled my way trough the game for most part lol. Offcourse the forklift come back once you reach Niaowu and the game starts opening up more and more. But in the end it doesen't matter all that much, Shenmue III is a game that should have come out in 2005 maybe then it would be seen as a classic. But in 2018 we're expecting a little more then what is delivered. Offcourse you could always say that it kept faithfull to it's predecessors but even the most die hard shenmue fan has to admit the outdated gameplay and some design would have been okay in 2005 but not in 2018. Needless to say the impossible to do right and beyond borderline frustrating qte's also makes a return. Just to sum it up shenmue III does everithing right bar the gameplay which boring, outdated and if i'm being honest with myself it's just not a fun game to play.
  14. Yowzers, Every gamer owe it to themselves to experience the original mass effect trilogy atleast once. It's just the first game controls haven't really aged well by todays standard but they fixed some of it with the trilogy remaster atleast from what i can remember. You think so? Don't really see anything wrong with skyrim it's gameplay well maybe the ps3/360 or switch version, may be dated but with the recent update for current gen consoles it looks and plays better then ever.
  15. I've got a Series X which is fine for now, maybe i'll get a ps5 once those become more readily avaible but eh do i really want one now. Nah i'm good thanks, give it somebody else who wants it more. I've got no use for a high end computer because all i use my laptop for is the internet and my 8 year old laptop still does a fine job at that so i'm good on that front aswell.
  16. Justin the 360 controller is like one of the most comfortable controllers ever made like how can you get exhausted from holding it? You sure you diden't smoke something funny beforehand?
  17. I don't play online so can't comment on that but the difference between Gta and Rdr is that with gta rockstar can add all sorts of nonesense and wacky stuff to do to the point where it doesen't make any sense and it woulden't take away the experience and rockstar can get away with it because it's gta. Where in a game like Rdr rockstar is much more limited to what you they can add without taking away the realism of the game, like it wouldn't make much sense to start adding cars or boats in a western game now would it, you can only do so much bounty hunting or robberies before it gets repetitive.
  18. I should start posting more into this section of the forum as there some interesting threads in here. Like i won't deny Messi and Ronaldo are arguably the best players of all time, well surely of their generarion. See this is a discussion that Is always up for debate but you can't compare football when pele or maradonna were around to current day football as like with any sport football has professionalised a lot during the course of 30 years. What is controversial Fabio Cannavaro winning it in 2006 as the first defender? The fact Zidane only won it once, or even better Legends of the game like Jürgen Klinsmann, Raúl, Thierry Henry, Paolo Maldini and Gianluigi Buffon never won it once that is controversial imo. For all i care imo if in 2022 Benzema doesen't win it, why not give it to Thibaut Courtois, sure i may be pro Belgium again but come on man imo he deserves it as much Benzema does.
  19. Probably a fun one to discuss yes or no? As topic title says what videogame franchises outstayed their welcome and should be put on hold indefinitely. Where and why did they go downhill? Let's just avoid the usual suspects like call of duty, fifa, madden and what have you as those are offcourse the more obvious ones. I'll start with my picks : Sonic -> Yes sonic, i'm kinda ashamed to put it in my list as a sega fan but clearly apart from the brilliant sonic mania plus, sega just doesen't know what to do with franchise anymore and they keep pumping out mediocre game one after the other. With a bunch of remasters in between nobody was waiting for and with the upcoming sonic frontiers game that is already getting slammed by the general public, i'd say it's time to give the blue hedgehog a well deserved rest. Warriors/Musou games -> Where to even start with this, there are just so many of them out there and pretty much a new one wheter it's a spin off or main game comes out every couple of months it's impossible to keep up with them. Offcourse recent entries may be more varied then previous ones but doesen't take away the series should be given some time off, because they all play the same anyway. If Dynasty warriors 9 has proven one thing by going open world is that omega force doesen't really know what to do with it anymore to keep it interesting for more then a couple of hours. Final Fantasy -> I'm not 100% sure myself wheter or not i should include it here but goddamn square enix has been milking the final fantasy dry all they can the past few years, like how many spin offs do we even have now, it's damn near impossible to list em all, like Final Fantasy Tactics, Dissidia: Final Fantasy and the recent released Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin coulden't be further away from the traditional jrpg roots of the series. I get it anything final fantasy is likely going to sell better but come on squar enix it's time you make the fantasy final for once and for all. Just start naming your games something different. Need for speed -> A no brainer to include Need for speed as Ea themselves doesen't really know what to do with the franchise either, ghost studios clearly isen't capable of delivering a good racing game. Well maybe Rivals can be classified as good but eh ever since the 2015 reboot which imo has one the worst car handlings in any game and on top of that the cheesy live clips in between that are supposed to tell a story eh no thanks. Later games are a tad bit better but the whole you vs the cops or vice versa it's getting old and in this day and age i think nobody is waiting for another need for speed, now that ea bought codemasters i don't really see much reasons to keep need for speed alive for much longer. Let's just say need for speed is a series that is living of it's past glory and imo should be put on hold for a atleast a couple of years. We can only hope the new need for speed by criterion is going to be better then previous entries but if it fails i'm afraid for the series future. I know i could go on and on but i've got to respect other people their free time, others i would have included are Halo, Gears of war, God of war and Resident Evil.
  20. used to play a ton of point and click games on my dad his old computer back in the day. Obviously i would only repeat others as those were the usual suspect like indiana jones, maniac mansion and kings quest to just name a few. One i will always have fond memories of and the first point and click game i managed to beat without any sort of guidance was Teenagent pretty underrated little game that you can actually download for free here. Offcourse during the ps1 area i was introduced to broken sword and something called ark of time that game toke me over 10 years to beat, horrible voice acting and unlogic puzzles at times but you know it still has it charms. Also first person games like atlantis and Amerzone ( first game of Benoit sokal rip of syberia fame and many comics ) were my jam back in the day. I still play and buy em from time to time just on consoles these days, for a game like Thumbleweed park you can always wake me up at night.
  21. So what are some games you enjoyed that are generally be seen as good by gamers but quite frankly have terrible or clunky gameplay. I'll start with the first two that came to my mind when i tought about creating a topic for it. Offcourse i should include Deadly premonition but i've already talked way too much about that game in previous topics i'll just mention it briefly. Heavy Rain -> Great game, great story likeable characters but when i think back off it the controls are quite terrible and the gameplay is as boring as going to church on sunday. Bad example i know like who on earth still does that 😞 Mass Effect 1 -> the entire trilogy are classics imo but the first game hasn't aged very well, while everithing else about the game is still top notch the controls are just clunky and a pain to use by todays standards. Driving around the Moka is probably the biggest pain in the ass, well i'm sure you know what i mean if you played the original game. I think they finally fixed it with the trilogy. Right surely i know more like alpha protocol and the first nier game just to name a few but i can't remember much about those games anymore so i'll leave some for the rest of you guys/gals as i'm kinda curious what you can come up with!
  22. The ones i can still remember probably 2010 where Lionel messi won his second Ballon d'or ahead of teammates Xavi and Iniesta who just won the world cup with Spain that year. Also wesley Sneijder who won the treple with Inter milan that year and was losing finalist with the Netherlands on the world cup that year should have gotten it instead imo. Last year was also a fluke with Messi winning it yet again instead of lewandowski. The only real logic winner for this year would be benzema but then again logic and football awards don't always go hand in hand.
  23. It depends if you get punished or not for killing npc's. I'm usually trying to play as the good person, like in Rdr 2 your honour goes down pretty fast if you start hurting a few npc characters and since i wanted arthur to be a semi modern robin hood i tried to avoid it as much as possible. Gta v doesen't really punish you for going on a rampage so it's always satisfying to take out your anger, if you have a bad day on some npc's lol.
  24. 3 series i have abonded : Fifa series -> from the 2001 onwards to 2021 it used to be a yearly tradition that i would get fifa each year. The past few years i wasen't really feeling it anymore as career mode has been the same in like forever and found myself play fifa less and less each year, the fact ea has the nerve to announce new additions into career mode, things they stripped out of fifa 10 and then claim they are new, no offence but that fuck you ea. Just when you think off it that fifa 13 is a much better game then fifa 21 says it all. The fact the career mode in fifa 10 is more in depth then in fifa 21 like really. I finally had the courage to skip fifa 22, eventough i saw it on sale for 20 bucks a few days and it's kinda tempting to get at that price and play some fifa over the summer but i probably shoulden't. Far Cry series -> If you ask me what is your favourite Far cry game then i'm going to say the criminally underrated game Far cry primal, the only thing ubisoft did something out of box with the far cry franchise and you know it worked very well, playing as a caveman was something new and fresh the series needed. The rest of the games are just fps shooters set in an open world exotic location well for the most part, ubisoft keeps pumping out far cry games and with a lot of there franchises they should take a break and come up with something fresh. Not saying they are bad games by any means but after playing about 10 hours of the 4th game, i just had enough and started playing something else. Lego games -> Without any doubt the best lego game is Lego city undercover it proves you don't need a license to make a great lego game and while it's wishful think that they would ditch the whole (movie) licensing and make a sequel as it had likeable characters and the humour wasen't forced like in many licensed lego games i've played in the past with references to many video game franchises. Haven't bothered with a lego game since undercover because i just don't really care that much for the licensed stuff anymore and offcourse if you played one youa have played them all as they play all the same anyway.
  25. Suprised nobody mentioned the traditional shooter or shmup yet games ala gradius, r-type, darius and salamander just to name a few. Easy enough to get into but damn tough as nails to master since for shmup purist t's usually the goal to beat the game on one credit. Then there is the bullet hell shooter games ala radiant silvergun, radirgy, deathsmiles, dodonpachi and it's numerous releases, sometimes when i play these games i don't have a clue what is going on sometimes lol. I think for me personally it's going to be the real time and/or turn based strategy genre, i'm trying to get back into them but even games like civilization vi feel a little overwhelming for me, even when i finished the tutorial and started playing the game i already forgot half what i learned in said tutorial well maybe i shoulden't have taken a 2 week break from gaming. But i'm going to be stubborn and maybe go trough the tutorial again. Guess i'm more the management type of guy where i don't have to take battles in account and can just focus managing something. If we are taking online play in account it has to be the one on one fighters, the problem here is when you jump into a certain fighting game of let's say mortal kombat 11 or even better a more niche game from arc system works. The community that is now left from that game are just people who play nothing besides fighters and are usually experts at it, so for somebody new it would be very hard to get into as you would get destroyed no matter what, well unless you put hours and hours into it to get good at the game. on a final note since it's been mentioned in this thread, rockstar their games are designed that they can be beaten by anybody, if you fail a mission too many times you can just skip that part if you'd like and continue. It's just a lot of side activities like the sky diving in gta v that are a pain in the ass to complete. Also worth noting the frustrating controls at times like driving and shooting combined without crashing into something yeah not that easy. Shooting from a horse in rdr 2 is a lot easier then shooting from a car that goes over 100mph.
