All the time. I've not touched certain games because of mission procrastination lol. 😛 It's honestly probably the #1 reason my backlog is so big and I have so many unfinished games. 😛 The struggle is REAL. It usually happens in more open-world titles, and that makes it worse because then I forget what I had to do when I do go back to them and end up starting over completely, it's a vicious, never-ending cycle.

How do you feel about driving games like Gran Turismo? Ridge Racer? Driver? Are you a fan of them? I can take them or leave them to be honest. I don't mind driving in games like GTA, well at least not in the older games on the PS2. I generally don't find driving segments in games to be all that entertaining, but I can see their appeal. Are you a fan of driving games?

I think the original xbox missed the mark with one thing, a wifi adapter. I think they could've put out a wifi adapter to enable wifi on the original xbox. I think that would've been a big seller for the console, similar to how Sega released the broadband adapter to replace the 56K modem it came with. Do you think the OG xbox should've had a wifi adapter add-on released? Or was it not needed at the time?

How long can you handle wearing a VR headset for?
Smokey replied to Kane99's topic in Virtual Reality
Probably not long. I suffer with bad headaches due to a condition I was born with, so I doubt I'd last long with something like VR. I also wear glasses, so that'd be a factor in actually wearing the headset comfortably without it damaging my glasses. -
That's a great way of looking at it! That's why I don't understand people when they say it's a useless/worthless hobby that's a waste of time. I've read about studies that have helped kids with learning & mental disabilities cope with said issues through gaming. If it's helping people like that, how can it be worthless?

I got a subscription, unlimited data on t-mobile here in the US. I pay about $50/mo for it. It suits me just fine. I never have issues with not having service. I enjoy their service and they offer protection plans. I think i'll be getting one for my next phone when I decide to get a new one.

I got 128GB on my phone's internal memory. I'm guessing quite a lot. However, I don't keep too many games on my phone. I don't have a main driver tablet at the moment either, so I can't really say how many my 'tablet' would hold as I don't really have one I use regularly. The ones I have are all pretty old and outdated, and probably wouldn't run many games too well on it at all.

Was Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 really that 'good'?
Smokey posted a topic in Video Games
A lot of people when asked what their favorite Call of Duty game is, will say the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009. That being said, it got me thinking, is it really that good of a game? It was released during a time when the original infinity ward was being split away from Activision due to lawsuits and half the studio left to form Respawn Entertainment under EA. The game had a lot of problems such as One Many Army Noobtubes, danger close, etc. Looking at the games in the series we get today, was the original Modern Warfare 2 really that good of a game? I don't think so. I think a lot of people are looking through rose colored glasses personally. I enjoyed my time w/ the game back in the day but if I had to go back and play it today, I don't think i'd enjoy it nearly as much without some QOL improvements. -
Amazon to publish Crystal Dynamics next Tomb Raider game
Smokey replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
If CD is still making the game, I don't see it being much different to the previous trilogy. While the publisher does matter when it comes to games, it depends on how much they interfere with the developers vision for a game. I'll wait to reserve judgement. It might not be as bad as everyone is making it out to be. -
Yes I'm aware it wasn't on the NES or SNES, but the other games I mentioned were, the games based on movies could be just that, it doesn't have to be limited to the games I mentioned or a specific console mentioned, you don't need to take every thread you read literal in terms of it's title or body, that's what's great about open forums, you can add onto the discussion, which is kind of the point. I'm sure there were other games based on movies that I missed. The point of the thread is that they're usually not very good, which is funny considering most movies based on games, aren't very good either.

For me it's either the Super Nintendo or the Gamecube. If we're talking 2D then definitely SNES if we're talking 3D, it's definitely The Gamecube. The gamecube had great games on it like Resident Evil Remake, Resident Evil 4, Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes, and Phantasy Star Online Episode 1&2. (what can I say, I LOVE PSO :D) If I had to pick one though? I'd say Super Nintendo, lots and lots of classic IPs were started on the SNES that are still going today. It's truly a classic console.

Did you ever own or play any of those games on the NES and SNES based on movies? Games like Friday the 13th? Texas Chainsaw massacre? or.....*shudder* ET?

There was an HD collection released on PS3 and 360 but I don't think it was backwards compatible on the Xbox One, unfortunately. I should find out.

Anyone remember this series? A TV & Movie addicted Gecko that spouted movie & TV references while he kicked butt? I loved this series growing up and I wish they'd bring Gex back as a mascot for the PS5. A new Gex game on PS5 would be amazing IMHO.

What's the most you've spent on any gaming console? For me, it was the PS3. I spent $599 on it back in mid 2007. I enjoyed it for years and made a lot of friends from that era in time. What was the most you've spent on a console? Where do you draw the line? I don't know if I'd ever spend more than $599 on a console. I think $599 is my cut off and even then that's pushing it. Recently, I bought a fully modded Dreamcast for just under $500. However, with all the mods and stuff that was done to it, I was actually saving about $300 than if I were to do it all myself. 😛

I hear this a lot from non-gamer oriented people, that you're 'wasting your time' playing video games? Do you agree with this? I would argue it's no different than sitting and aimlessly watching television for hours on end. I feel like at least with gaming, you're engaging with a story and world, you're moving a character around and doing exploration and other activities. Where as watching a movie or TV show, you're just sat there staring at the screen. What do you think? Do you think gaming is a 'wase of time' sort of hobby?

If you could spend a day in any video game universe, which would you choose?
Smokey replied to DC's topic in Gaming Forum
For me, I'd like to spend a day in Yakuza or Shenmue and just walk around Japan doing normal daily activities. Or possibly Phantasy Star Online, just exploring and killing monsters 😄 -
From a streamer perspective, it all depends on the size of your reach and community, and if people in your community are willing to sub to you or drop bits or other currency through donations. I know plenty of streamers who break their butts streaming long hours to make a living and i'm not sure if they're even making enough to 'live comfortably' or 'just get by'. It's hard to say how much someone in the gaming industry makes. It depends on what they're doing within this industry.

I feel like this makes the game more immersive. I love the idea of doing this in VR. I don't own a VR headset though. Although I did watch a youtube video of someone going into a blockbuster video in VR, recently and thought it was really cool. I like the idea of shops in games to buy your weapons and such.

I never had a damaged PC screen. However, I did have a damaged TV i purchased, two actually. One had a piece of black paper on the inside of the screen, so it had to be returned and then when I replaced it, the replacement TV had an issue with the screen and it had lines going through it within a day of use. I can't say I have had any issues with any monitors though.

I use my laptop for everything from regular web browsing, streaming and gaming. I do a lot of gaming on my consoles, and not as much as I would like on the PC, but I like having the option if I see a game on Steam I wanna try. I use my PC for more than just gaming.
-
Do you think an i9 processor is overkill for gaming? I'm not sure as I never used an i9 processor, at least not yet, but I never had much issue on a high-end i7 processor for most games. Do you got an i9? Is it overkill? Just right? Or needed for the future? Do you think the i5 will eventually be phased out for PC gaming?

Are you interested in handheld PC-like consoles like the Aya Neo or Steam Deck? Personally, I would love to get one of these as a companion to my gaming laptop. I'm just not sure which one to go for. I want something that'll emulate PS2, Dreamcast and Gamecube fairly well, but i'm not sure. I also wouldn't want to spend more than about $1,000 on it.

Do you use any emulators on your PC for older consoles like the PS2? Since I don't have access to my PS2 anymore, if I wanna go back and enjoy a game that doesn't have a remaster, I run it through PCSX2 and hope it works fine. 😛 I might play through some PS2 classics this weekend. After making my thread on games like The Bouncer, i'm itching to play it again. 😛 Do you use any emulators for older consoles? which ones do you use?

Are thtere any Playstation era- beat em ups you'd like to see make a comeback? Personally, I'd like to see a new Fighting Force game or a sequel to The Bouncer. Both games were a lot of fun growing up and scratched my itch for a Streets of Rage 4 until we finally got that in 2020. I would love to see The Bouncer 2 happen. I doubt Square-Enix has any intention of making a sequel to this game but it would be cool to see. Me and my younger brother & cousin used to play this game a lot growing up and i'm sure my brother would love a sequel.
