Does anybody save their old iPhone (s) ?
Ravenfreak replied to melanie_marie27's topic in Technology & Gadgets
I've kept all my old phones except for my very first phone which was a Samsung Glide. I didn't get a iPhone until 2018, but I still own my first iPhone which was a iPhone SE. It still works just fine, I just wanted to have a bigger phone so I switched to the iPhone 7S and now I've got a XR. I also have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and S7, the S2 doesn't power on at all anymore nor does it charge so it's dead. The S7 still works but the battery drains fast and the phone runs slow. -
Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?
Ravenfreak replied to Shortie's topic in General Chat
I honestly haven't even started Christmas shopping yet. I'm bad about this, I tend to wait until the last minute to buy gifts and hope they come in just in time for Christmas. My spouse doesn't really want much from me though, so it shouldn't be too difficult to figure out what to get them. My father in law is a pain to shop for though, but my mother in law isn't. -
Honestly it doesn't really bother me too much. The main reason why it falls behind the PS5 and Switch has to be Game Pass Ultimate. You can play pretty much any Xbox game on a PC if you have a decent setup. There's not really any exclusives anymore for the Series X/S, which is another thing that's been hurting the sales of Xbox consoles. I doubt Microsoft will ever address this though, they just see these subscriptions as more ways to get money from people. It makes me wonder if after this generation will the Xbox stop being produced? If Microsoft sees the sales for consoles vs. Game Pass subscriptions and sees that they're making more money from subscriptions surely they could stop making Xbox consoles in the future right?

Most of the country music I enjoy listening to is country from the 80's, 90's, and 00's. My favorite country artist for sure is Shania Twain, I can listen to her stuff over and over again. She's one of my guilty pleasure artists. I also enjoy some songs from Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks.

I like some KPop but my spouse is more into the genre. They love BTS and Suga is their bias, so I have to hear some of their songs often. I do like Butter, it's a catchy song. I like some of Jungkook's solo music, and I liked one song from the band 2NE1. I never liked Psy's music though, couldn't stand Gangnam Style at all and think it's the worse song in existence lol. I also like a few songs from the band Tomorrow X Together (or TXT for short.)

Wait there's a new Goosebumps series? I used to watch the original show when I was a kid and I loved it as much as I loved "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" There were some moments watching the original that scared the crap out of me when I was a kid. xD

Sony announces "The Last of Us, Part 2 Remastered" for PS5
Ravenfreak replied to Dismal_Bliss's topic in Gaming News
I feel like The Last Of Us is becoming more like Resident Evil 4 at this point lol. Well seeing how I never actually got around to playing the two games, perhaps I'll finally pick up the PS5 editions and play the definitive versions of the games. I suppose it somewhat makes sense since the show is currently airing and that's the perfect time to bring the games back in the limelight to get those who have watched the show to play the games if they haven't done so yet. -
I can't really say that my favorite game of all time has changed. I love Sonic 3 and Knuckles, and no other 2D platformer has really done anything better than Sonic 3 and Knuckles has in my opinion. Sure Sonic Mania exists, but most of the levels are from previous games and even though these levels are better than their original counterparts it really needed new levels all together to make it better. Would it have taken the spot as my favorite game of all time? Maybe, though some of the audio design choices sucked. (I'm tired of hearing that goofy Sonic 3 alone 1 up jingle that has been used in most of the newer 2D Sonic titles.)

Square Enix have lost $6 Billion after Final Fantasy 16 release!
Ravenfreak replied to Shortie's topic in Gaming News
I'm sure they'll make it back with the release of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. I still haven't got FF16 yet, I want to get it eventually. I still wish FF would go back to their old roots of turned based combat and keep the hack n slash in Kingdom Hearts. -
My childhood best friend was addicted to playing League of Legends when she was in her early 20's. There were times where she would literally game all day, and barely eat anything let alone brush her teeth, take showers, etc. I went over to her house when she moved back with her mom to our home town, and she didn't want to chill she just wanted to keep playing league of legends. She acted like a child and threw a bit of a tantrum, I was going to head back home but her mom insisted that I stay probably to try and get her off the computer. It was awkward, we didn't do much of anything since I could tell she was wanting to get back to playing league of legends. Her mom eventually kicked her out of the house since she didn't have a job, and her ex boyfriend came from out of state so she could live with him. She eventually got together with another dude, got a job and now she still plays games but she's not as bad as she was when she was in her early 20's. She's 31 right now, so I'm glad she got help for her addiction. Needless to say if you see anyone starting to neglect their health and constantly playing games they're most likely addicted and need help.

Does Nintendo need a proper 'online network' like PSN and XBL?
Ravenfreak replied to Smokey's topic in Nintendo
I think Nintendo should drop the friend code next generation and have a proper online service. It would make things much easier, you wouldn't have to worry about getting a friend code from someone to be their friend. It's just very inconvenient to have to get a friend code to add people. -
How do you feel about video games restrictions for minors?
Ravenfreak replied to Kennysplash's topic in Video Games
Honestly my parents didn't really care what games I played as a kid, of course as long as they weren't rated "Adults Only." I was allowed to play M rated games as a young kid, because my parents could trust that I knew the violence was fake. I played Turok 2 Seeds of Evil at the age of 12, Tomb Raider at the age of 6, etc. I was even allowed to play GTA when I was 14. -
Pretty much the majority of Sonic games have amazing soundtracks, but my all time favorite from the franchise is Sonic CD. (I prefer the Japanese soundtrack.) I also love the Legend of Legaia soundtrack, with my all time favorite game track being Cort's first battle theme.

I started playing PC games when I was around 6 or 7 years old. I didn't have a computer, but my cousins did and that's where I played PC games. Of course I only played games targeted towards kids, like The Oregon Trail, Rugrats Activity Challenge, etc.

That's awesome! I don't often play my Switch in handheld mode, which is why I'm content with my original Switch. My spouse has their own Switch Lite since they prefer to play in handheld mode. I'm sure the screen looks amazing on the OLED though! Do you guys play any games together? If so, which games?

I'm hoping I will get Super Mario Wonder and I want to get a Evercade for Christmas as well. I also want the Duke Nukem Collections for the Evercade too. Every other thing I want for Christmas aren't video games, but they're still somewhat related to video games though.

I love platformers and RPGs the most. I prefer to play turned based RPGs over hack and slash, though I don't mind hack and slash. I'm not a fan of rouge like RPGs though where you have to take care of your characters otherwise they my die of starvation. Sonic the Hedgehog is my favorite gaming franchise so I mainly prefer faster paced platformers but I also enjoy playing Mega Man, Super Mario Bros., and Spyro the Dragon. I also enjoy playing some FPS games with Doom being my favorite and Turok being another favorite series of mine.

Definitely Dark Souls III. It took me 15 tries before I defeated the first boss and afterwards, I died around 3 more times so I decided nah that's it I'm done lol. I would love to go back to the game someday, and actually beat it since I barely played it. I knew what I was getting myself into though when I bought the game. Also I just rage quit a Sonic hack last night too, the creators put way too many badniks in their layouts so I kept running into enemies left and right. Also the level layouts were annoying to navigate.

Unpopular Opinion: The 3D effect for the 3DS was pretty cool
Ravenfreak replied to NightmareFarm's topic in Nintendo
I thought it was cool at first, but then after a while I would get a headache any time I used it. I eventually lost my 3DS and had to get a 2DS since it was cheaper, so I haven't played a 3DS game with the 3D effect in a very long time. -
I don't think mobile games are ever going to die. There's lots of people who play games on their phones just to kill some time, so there's definitely a audience. I think they're just going to evolve and get better over time, just look how handheld games evolved over time as technology got better. Plus a lot of indie developers tend to make mobile games before diving into making games for PC or consoles and it's a great way for upcoming devs to get into the scene.

I've never played UNO on a game console, my spouse was obsessed with it for a little bit and they played it on the Switch. I like playing UNO here and there, though I don't think I want to play against random strangers on the internet. I wouldn't want UNO to take up space on my console's storage, I'd rather have the space for other games. I usually don't play video game versions of board games.

I'm more into kart racing games myself. I tried playing Driver 2 when I was a kid but I couldn't get into it. My dad loved the game though, so he ended up playing through most of it. I do like a few racing games like Super Hang On, and I don't mind playing a racing game at a arcade here and there.

I'm bad about not cleaning out my keyboard as often as I should. However, when I do get around to doing so I'll just take a can of compressed air and take my keyboard outside so all the dust and gunk in between the keys don't end up on my floor or in the air in my living space.

No graphics are my least worries when it comes to video games. For me game play, story, and even music comes before graphics. I still play retro games and have no issues with pixel art. I think it's odd that people get hellbent on graphics, video games are meant to be played and sure graphics can help immerse yourself into whatever game you're playing, but if you're looking at graphics before game play or story then IMO you're better off just watching a movie.

I wish Sony would release a new handheld, I was hoping the Playstation Portal would have been an original handheld rather than just a remote play device for the PS5. The PSP did so well and there were many people who preferred the PSP to the DS. However, Sony would have to have a killer game on the handheld to try and compete against Nintendo's Switch.
