Disney is remastering Sega Genesis classic ‘Gargoyles’
Ravenfreak replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
This is one of the few Disney Genesis titles that I never played. It's cool that we're getting a re-release of this classic on modern platforms! I'm probably going to skip this release though, I've got a Everdrive and four Genesis so I can easily play the original on my real Genesis and CRT tv. -
Game Pass for £1/$1 scrapped right before Starfield release
Ravenfreak replied to Shortie's topic in Xbox
I thought they got rid of the $1 game pass subscription a long time ago. No surprise there that they waited to remove it right before Starfield was released. I canceled my Game Pass subscription, I haven't played my Xbox One in a long time and the last game I played on it was a 360 game anyways. I do want to eventually upgrade to a Series X though, but it won't be anytime soon. -
Honestly seeing how many NFT games have been popping up lately, it wouldn't surprise me if it's just a matter of time before cryptocurrency is widely accepted as payment for non NFT earning games. People already use Bitcoin to purchase digital goods online, buying games with crypto doesn't sound too farfetched.

Honestly it doesn't surprise me that Animal Crossing is banned in China. Believe it or not, there was a 14 year ban on Video games in China! Thank god I don't live there, I can't imagine living in a country where you're restricted on how you can live your life.

Hands down it has to be Pearl Jam's version of Last Kiss. No other song makes me as sad as this one does, even the original version of the song doesn't get me in the feels. Eddie Vedder just has a large vocal range that can make a song sound even more emotional than it already is.

The only games I'll preorder are Pokemon and Sonic titles, seeing how they're my favorite gaming franchises. I just wish the preorder bonuses for Pokemon were better here in the United States... Lately we've only been getting download codes to lots of Pokeballs, or mediocre healing items where other countries get steelbook editions. 😕 At least with Sonic you get in game bonuses, but I think it's dumb Sega is releasing a digital deluxe edition with extra DLC that the physical release won't have. I'd much rather have a physical copy of the game too.

It's funny they mentioned Earthbound, the reason why it didn't sell well to begin with was the price! It was a whopping $70, with inflation that's around $144 these days! It's a great game of course, but that's why it's hard to find a copy at a good price. Though typically most RPGs from that era that are great and barely got a release typically go for a lot of money. I haven't played any of the other games listed, I've always wanted to give the Mario and Rabbids games a go though.

I finally finished my Free to Play MMORPG!
Ravenfreak replied to Empire Of Sight's topic in Video Games
Congratulations on finishing your game! It's not easy to make a game, let alone to actually finish one too. I'm not too familiar with NFTs or blockchains but I do see your site has great descriptions of what they are. I like the presentation of your website as well, looks great! -
I would love to see a Gamecube Mini, but I think the fad of mini consoles has pretty much died down. The Gamecube is my favorite Nintendo console after all. Though if there was going to be another mini console coming out, it would probably be a N64 mini. If they never give us a Gamecube Mini, I hope Nintendo will add Gamecube games to their online service at some point.

For a while it looked like Covid was going to shut down the movie theater business, but ever since the restrictions have been lifted more and more people have returned to the cinema. I don't think streaming killed movie theaters, it certainly has killed cable and satellite though. There's still people that probably use cable and satellite, but they're certainly fewer in numbers. I still see plenty of people going to the movie theater on weekends when big box office movies are released.

Are you looking forward to The Gex Trilogy Remastered?
Ravenfreak replied to Shortie's topic in Video Games
I am definitely looking forward to this collection! As someone who loves the Gex games I'm happy we're finally getting modern ports of the games. I'm shocked it took them this long though. Now I am hoping we'll be getting a new Gex game in the future, but I highly doubt it. Anyways I'll definitely be preorder this once preorders go live. I'll get it for both the PS5 and Steam for mods. -
I've been collecting video games since I was young, so I prefer to have physical games than digital ones. There's just something about seeing the case on my shelf that makes me happy. Also I can just pop in the disc whenever I feel like playing a game or the cartridge and don't have to worry about losing access to the game. I've seen it numerous times where games got delisted from digital stores for whatever reason and the value of physical games go up because there's no easy way to play it unless you own a physical copy.

Who would have thought that breaking the law would land you in jail even if you were the former president. xD I'm glad he's finally being booked in jail for breaking the law, along with his co-conspirators! Not one person in the country is above the law, and even Mike Pence thinks Trump deserves to be placed behind bars. I just hope this will disallow him from running for president next year, but I doubt it.

I first used TheRavenfreak, but I couldn't remember my password so when I got my Xbox 360 hooked up to Xbox Live, I just went with DARKSOUL12 and use that account still to this day. I have a second account since I forgot my Microsoft login for my DARKSOUL12 account. :V It's just a randomly generated username, I'm probably going to try and change it though.

There's Nintendo being Nintendo again, I get what the guy did was illegal of course but now he's going to live in poverty because of a greedy corporation that already made enough money to make up for the amount of money he caused them to lose in the first place. This is why I hate Nintendo as a company, I love their franchises and games but the company is absolutely garbage. His punishment should have just been a few years in federal prison and that's it with maybe a one time fee at most.

I would get super anxious whenever I needed to go underwater in Tomb Raider. In the Sonic games it didn't really bother me much, nor did the drowning music. Since I grew up playing the Sonic games I would often avoid water sections if I could and even if I couldn't I would be able to easily make it through the water areas without too much issue. I don't really claustrophobic when I have to go in water areas in games.

I never actually heard of a few of these consoles before such as the RCA Studio 2! I never knew RCA dipped their toes in the video game industry. Nor have I ever heard of the Virtual Light Machine or Ganken Compact Vision before. I wanted the N-Gage so bad when I was a teenager, I thought the concept of a phone/game handheld hybrid was cool but I'm so glad I never got one. I think the only game I was interested on it was Sonic N and it's just a bad port of Sonic Advance. I still want a Gamecom just so I can own Sonic Jam since I want every single Sonic game I can get my hands on, even though the game is absolutely garbage.

Mighty No. 9 was the first and is the only Kickstarter project I have ever backed. I had huge high hopes for this game when it was announced, so much I had a fan community that predated the official community. This was during the Mega Man drought where Capcom wasn't releasing any new Mega Man content. Keij Inafune, the man who actually designed Mega Man got the idea to make a spiritual successor to Mega Man, and thought Kickstarter was the best place to get the money for such a project. It met it's goal pretty quickly and even made it past many other goals to eventually port the game to platforms such as the Wii U and even 3DS. However, we all know the game got delayed numerous times and when it finally did get released, it was met with mainly negative reviews. Keiji Inafune ended up using a lot of the money to try and get a animated series made based around the franchise. That was the main reason why the game got delayed so many times. Fans who wanted a 3DS port of the game was met with disappointment as the port never seen the light of day, and even to this day there are still fans who never got the extra backing bonus gifts such as a usb drive with a copy of the game installed. So I have to ask, did anyone here actually like this game? Or were you disappointed with it like I was? Did you back the project? Perhaps you were even a member on my forum, Mighty No. 9 Universe.

Have you ever played Ristar before? It was a cool platformer released on the Sega Mega Drive and Game Gear in 1995 that stars a anthropomorphic star named Ristar who is on a quest to save Valdi, which is a solar system that was taken over by Greedy. The story is slightly different between the Japanese and international release, in the international release it mentions that Ristar's father is kidnapped by Greedy, but in the Japanese version his father isn't mentioned at all. Instead, he answers the call from the star goddess named Oruto. Ristar has some unique gameplay, unlike Sonic or Mario he can't simply jump on top of enemies to attack them. He instead uses his stretchy arms to pick up enemies and headbutt them. His arms are also used to reach new platforms. Ristar was actually built upon Sonic 1's engine, and his design resembles that of a early design for Sonic. I never finished the game, but I made it pretty far though years ago. It's got some awesome music in it as well! Here's a long play of the game:

Sonic is my favorite gaming franchise, and as much as I loved Sonic Adventure I still think the best Sonic game to date is still Sonic 3 and Knuckles. It not only introduced use to Knuckles, it took the formula of the first two games and amp it up. I will say though that Sonic Adventure is my favorite 3D Sonic title, so in a way it somewhat falls under the category of "Best Sonic title" just not the overall best IMO.

When Minecraft first came out I wasn't really interested in it. In fact, I thought it looked boring and never gave it a shot. I finally got into the game a few years ago when my Dungeons and Dragons buddies had my spouse and I play it on their PS4. They ended up getting us a copy of the game for the Xbox for Christmas that same year so we got to play together. Sadly we had a falling out with them, but I'll be playing Minecraft for the first time with my work friend tomorrow. 😄 Him and I will be working on a map he used to have that he lost since he turned his PS4 off before the game could save properly.

I mainly use Youtube to listen to music. I also have a music player on my computer called Foobar2000 that allows me to listen to video game music in a higher quality than on Youtube. I don't use Spotify since they don't have all the soundtracks I enjoy listening to. Sure they have some video game soundtracks, but not everything is on their platform probably due to licensing issues.

Has anyone here ever play the Colecovision before? I've only played the Flashback console, I used to own one but I lost it years ago whenever I moved out of my apartment. It came out right before the video game crash, so I'm sure not too many people played it back in the day. The specs are pretty similar to Sega's SG1000/SC3000 and it even has the same processor as the console as well as VDP. IGN listed it as number 12 on their top 25 gaming consoles of all time list apparently too. The console was discontinued in 1985, so it didn't last long. I think the controller is a odd one, it took me a bit to get used to it when I did own the flashback version. What do you think of the Colecovision?

I'm not sure if there's any Atari fans here, but Atari is selling the Atari 2600+ emulation console that can play Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 cartridges. Since it's a emulator though, not all games are compatible but the list of games not tested or not working is quite small. The price for the unit is $129, which is a bit too expensive IMO. I feel that a console such as this one should only be about $40. It comes with a multi cart, but even then the asking price is too high. You can purchase the Atari 2600+ from their website: https://atari.com/products/atari-2600-plus

Do you prefer building or zero-build on Fortnite?
Ravenfreak replied to Shortie's topic in Gaming Forum
I've never been good at building in Fortnite so I prefer to play zero build mode. I'm lucky I was able to at least get one victory. xD It's amazing to see how well some people can build though! It's much easier to do so on PC over console though, as long as you're not using a controller. I still suck at building even if I play it on my PC though.
