  1. Today Sony unveiled their latest handheld they announced back in May. The Playstation Portal is a Sony official remote play device for the PS5. The Playstation Portal will cost $199, and is set to release later this year. It's odd that the abbreviation for the device is PSP, I wish we were getting a standalone Playstation handheld but ah well. I might get it at some point, maybe when the price drops. Of course there's always the option to remote play your PS5 games on your phone, so you don't necessarily need this device. You can read more about it on their blog: https://blog.playstation.com/2023/08/23/playstations-first-remote-play-dedicated-device-playstation-portal-remote-player-to-launch-later-this-year-at-199-99/
  2. I'm definitely looking forward to Sonic Superstars! There's also Super Mario Wonder too, but I'm probably going to wait to get that game. I'm also looking forward to the Pokemon Scarlet/Violet DLC releasing next month, I know it's not a new game but eh. I'm going to pre-order Superstars for the PS5 on Friday, I want to get a physical copy now and a digital one later just so I can get the extra DLC that only comes with the digital version.
  3. I always seen Spyro the Dragon as Playstation's platformer mascot back in the day, and I think it's because I played Spyro and never played much of Crash. Lara Croft was a pretty big character back then too, and was somewhat of a mascot for the Playstation. Throughout the years new franchises came out on Playstation consoles such as Rachet and Clank and I feel like they replaced the old mascots. Nowdays, I see Kratos as the mascot for the Playstation. I can't really picture any other character, mascots really aren't as big as they were in the 90's and 00's. Game companies really don't need to focus on that aspect anymore.
  4. Oh man that would be a pretty awesome advent calendar! Though it would be pretty expensive if it contained codes to download games, unless they were cheaper games. We started getting advent calendars here in the states recently, I got a Sonic one last year. It would be a neat way to play new games.
  5. A lot of the Harry Potter games were pretty fun to play. I used to own The Chamber of Secrets on the GBA, and I currently own both GBC games. These games are actually RPGs, unlike the GBA game which is a platformer. I also loved Alien 3 on the Genesis as a kid and even Judge Dredd too. I know a lot of people don't care for Judge Dredd on the Genesis, but I have nostalgia for it.
  6. I know it's much better to purchase your own parts and build a PC yourself since it's usually cheaper, but I just go down the lazy route and purchase a pre-built PC. In fact that's what I did back in April, I got the computer I'm currently using. I purchased a Acer Nitro N50-640 and I love it! I need to eventually get a better monitor though, I'm currently using a small Sceptre monitor.
  7. I use my gaming pc for everything I need to do on my computer. I honestly don't play too many triple A games, but it's nice having a gaming PC for the times there is a triple A title that catches my eye. I also use this computer to edit videos, I was using a three year old gaming laptop that would struggle when I edited my videos.
  8. I do have a favorite, and sadly I never got the chance to unlock it. Raven is my favorite super hero of all time, and I wish I took the time to unlock her as well as Beast Boy too. It sucks that we never get a second chance to unlock skins, because man I would try my hardest if I could get another chance.
  9. Sonic 06 isn't the worst Sonic game, that title goes to Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric or even Sonic Jam on the Gamecom. Those still count, I don't care if they were "spin off" titles and not main titles, they're still way worse. I never had 06 make my Xbox 360 freeze unlike Rise of Lyric which made my Wii U freeze once. Generation 4 of Pokemon is the worst generation, going by the main games. Sure Platinum fixed the issues that Diamond and Pearl had, but I got Diamond back in 2008 and I was super disappointed with the game. It was the first Pokemon game I couldn't finish, I caught Dialga and put the game on my shelf and never really picked it up since. Lastly Sonic is and will always be better than Mario, yes I said it! Most game critics are too harsh on a lot of the Sonic titles, and IGN sucks. They gave a perfect score to Sonic Pocket Adventure when it's far from the best game in the series, it's basically a rehash of Sonic 2 from the Mega Drive on the Neo Geo Pocket Color. (And Sonic 2 isn't the best game in the series, Sonic 3 and Knuckles is.)
  10. I couldn't imagine getting a game and not being able to finish it as a kid. Doing everything to try and collect the last object to get 100% or not being able to beat the final boss because the programmer purposely made it invincible. I'm sure there are ROM hacks to fix these quirks, well maybe for not every game on the list. Action 52 is notoriously bad, and it's no surprise that it's on this list. xD No one is going to try to fix that game it's way too broken. I think the Mega Drive version may be a little better than the NES version but I'm not sure.
  11. As we're quickly approaching 2024, it's well overdue for us to get a new Switch or at least a new Nintendo console. I know we just got the OLED, but it's not much of a upgrade from the original Switch especially if you play it docked. I wonder if Nintendo will actually reveal a new console soon. The Switch is already 6 years old at this point, crazy to think it's that old now.
  12. I purchased the PS5 with a disc drive. I prefer to have physical games and I have a few PS4 games on discs so I want to be able to play them without having to worry about hooking up my PS4. (Though I have a copy of The Nathan Drake Collection and it doesn't work properly on the PS5 last I checked...) It's rare that I order games digitally, the only time I'll do this is if I'm impatient and want to play a game right away without having to purchase it and wait for the game to come to my house. xD
  13. As someone who likes emulation, I think it's stupid for Nintendo to go after sites that host old school roms. It's one thing if the website has download links to Switch games, since those games are current and Nintendo will lose money off that. However, they're not going to lose money on people downloading oldschool roms, especially if it's a game that's not even on the Nintendo Switch Online service.
  14. I would love it if we ever got a translucent shell. I miss the days of translucent consoles, I wonder if there's some third party shells that are translucent. I'm sure there is, but man it'd be cool if it was official. I also wish the odd Sonic movie Series S was actually available to purchase, it sucks it was a contest exclusive and I didn't get one. It had fuzzy controllers, which is odd but man I wish I had one!
  15. I actually just purchased a 360 last year from ebay with a Kinect. I wanted one back in the day when I first got my original Xbox 360 elite, but never had the money to get one. Honestly I mainly got it so I can play Sonic Free Riders, being the huge Sonic nerd that I am. I still need to get a copy of the game. I remember one of my friends back in the day had a Kinect and he brought it over to my apartment once. I can't recall what game we played though...
  16. The only game she mentioned that I played as a kid was GTA, I never played any of the other games when I was younger. I'm still surprised that The Legend of Zelda was on her list but Mortal Kombat wasn't. I played Mortal Kombat on the Genesis as a kid, to be fair my parents knew that I knew games weren't real so they didn't mind if I played M rated games. Still I wonder who played Postal 2 as a kid, they must be messed up in the head. xD
  17. As much as I do enjoy Legend of Dragoon, I still prefer Legend of Legaia over this one. I still need to actually go back and finish Legend of Dragoon, I used to own a physical copy of the game as a kid but for some reason traded it in since I guess I didn't like it much back then. I purchased it on my PS3 years ago, I have it on my PS5 now too! Whenever I get around to finishing Rayman Origins, I'm going to play Legend of Dragoon and actually finish it.
  18. I like when older games get remasters or remakes if they're done right. I am not really a fan of the Final Fantasy VII remake, it's way too different from the original game and it completely throws the story of the original game out the window. Not to mention that I am more of a fan of turned based RPGs and wish Final Fantasy would go back to that mechanic rather than hack n slash. I'm happy that I'll be able to play all three Gex games on my PS5 soon thanks to Limited Run games remastering the series.
  19. There's a few genres I will never bother playing. I hate real time strategy games, I never could get into them. I also don't like point and click games or visual novel games either, so I'll stay away from all the Telltale games. This is why I don't like the first few Clock Tower games either, I also don't like Snatcher for that same reason. I don't mind watching other people play visual novels, but I don't see the point in those games because IMO I can't really call them video games as you're not doing much.
  20. I don't get why people think they can rip off other properties and not expect the companies that made the originals to come back and strike down their games. I noticed that a few people were talking about this game on Youtube but I never watched any of the videos. I'm surprised it took them a bit to get the game removed from the eShop though.
  21. I never used a Wii U pro controller but since I'm so used to how the layout is on other controllers, I think it would take me sometime to get used to using one where the thumb sticks were on top. Most likely Nintendo made a patent for the layout of the controller and no other company can use this layout unless it's a third party Wii U controller. They had the patent for the d-pad design on the NES, which is why no other controller had that same layout.
  22. Repetition is how I've gotten better over the years when it comes to playing difficult games. Just a few weekends ago I made it farther than I ever had in The Revenge of Shinobi. I would often give up when I couldn't make it past the first half of the second stage. This time I decided to push through and keep trying, and eventually I finally beat that dang level! I made it to stage 4 but the boss annoyed me and I was getting hungry so I stopped playing. I would try and rush through the game too, and I would often miss a jump or get killed by a enemy and I think this is another reason why I never made it far in the game growing up.

    Gex

I loved Gex 3 Deep Cover Gecko! Gex: Enter the Gecko was pretty cool too. I remember one of my childhood friends had a copy of the sequel, and it gave me nightmares as a kid. :V I was afraid of the enemies that stab Gex in the horror level. I could never 100% complete Gex 3 though. I hated the Mythology Network level and typically will skip it whenever I play the game. The first game was okay but I think Gex did better as a 3D platformer than a 2D side scroller. There's no way a new Gex game would fly in this day and age which sucks since I loved the franchise.
  24. I really need to go back and finish this game! Chrono Trigger is one of the best RPGs to be released on the SNES. The soundtrack is amazing, and the coolest thing about the PS1 version is the added cutscenes. It's a shame the loading times in Final Fantasy Chronicles is a nightmare though... I only own the PS1 version since the SNES version is expensive. I think it's cool that Akira Toriyama, the character designer for DB and DBZ worked on the artwork in this game. 🙂
  25. I feel like my music taste really hasn't changed too much since I was younger. There was music I did enjoy back then that I couldn't listen in front of my father since he was very strongly opinionated on music. If my sister and I ever listened to hip-hop or rap in front of him, he would immediately start mocking the music... Because of that for the longest time I would start criticizing my friends if they listened to rap. I never liked rap to be honest with you, but I did enjoy some hip-hop. I also somewhat still enjoy some of Megadeth's music but not as much as I did when I was a kid.
