I know there is a thread that was posted here talking about a rumor going around that Sonic was getting a Fall Guys inspired title. Well, that leak was true and we're getting a game called Sonic Rumble this Winter! I was one of the lucky people who got selected to beta test the game a few weeks ago, and I thought I wouldn't enjoy it that much but I had a blast playing the beta. In Sonic Rumble, there's three game modes. The first one is a race to the finish line, only the first 16 people who make it to the goal can proceed to the next round. In the second round, you have to survive and be one of the last of 7 standing. You need to collect as many rings as possible to continue on to the final round. In the last round, Ring Battle players need to get the most amount of rings in order to win. There is one level that needs to be tweaked in the final release, because it made it way too easy to win if you were already in first place. The levels in the beta were Green Hill, Seaside Hill, Chemical Plant, Starlight Carnival, Silent Forest, Frozen Factory, and Lava Mountain. I thought Frozen Factory's Ring Battle and Survival levels were too difficult and need to be adjusted. Starlight Carnival Ring Battle is easy to beat if you're already in first place. I'm sure the devs will fix all of this before the game gets released. Here's some gameplay footage courtesy of the Sonic Stadium. (Also if you look close enough at 40 seconds into the video, you can see my username lol.)

If they're done right they're fine. However, this wasn't the case for The Sims 4 in my opinion. They didn't bother to update the controls to work with a controller, making menu selecting very difficult to do on console versions. Back when EA was good, The Sims ports to console were great. (Well if you don't count those bizarre spin off titles they came out with on handhelds...) I loved The Sims 2 on Gamecube and thought it worked well for the console version.

Have you ever seen the film Creep before? It's based around this guy who hires a man named Aaron off Craigslist to simply just film him doing every day tasks. He goes by the name Josef, and he explains that he's dying from cancer and wants to make a video memory for his unborn son. He's a little unhinged at first, but Aaron continues to follow him around and hang out. When night falls, Aaron tries to leave the house but Josef doesn't want him to. Eventually Aaron does get to leave and go home, but Josef starts stalking him and sending him DVDs in the mail. I won't give away anything else, but it's a great movie. If you enjoy thrillers you'd like this film. There's also a sequel as well and there's supposed to be a series coming out based around the movies. (It was originally going to be a third film.)

Someone has just spent over $1m on a CS2 skin… Would you if you could?
Ravenfreak replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
I definitely would not spend this kind of money on a skin in a video game. Even if I had the money, that would be a huge nope from me. I'd rather spend that kind of money on physical goods and not digital ones. Heck imagine what you could do with that money, you could give it to charity or help family members out. I know everyone can spend their hard earned money on anything they want, but I think this is too much. -
I need to boot up my Xbox 360 again and purchase some games that aren't backwards compatible on the Series S. I assume physical Xbox 360 games that aren't backwards compatible are going to go up in price now since the store is closing. It sucks that the store is closing, but at least Microsoft kept it up for a long time, much longer than Sony and Nintendo.

I was born in 1990 so nope I'm younger than what we consider is the current internet. There were only a few universities that could connect to an early version of the internet in the mid to late 80s, but the average computer user didn't really get online until the mid 90's since it was much easier to get connected to the internet once services like AOL came to the market. I didn't have a computer growing up, but honestly I wish I did. I would have loved to be able to interact with users on forums when they were more popular in the early 00s. I didn't start using the internet daily until late 2008 after I got my laptop for graduating high school, forums were still popular but shortly after unfortunately social media started to get popular and take off.

If you keep up with Windows news, you're probably already aware of a upcoming feature being added to Windows 11 and this feature is called Recall. What exactly does Recall do? It helps you "recall" what you've done on your computer within a set period of time. It'll essentially record what you've done within a certain amount of time and replay your actions. Many users are concerned about this new feature, because it can and will cause a huge privacy issue for those who use Windows 11. It's essentially an officially marketed keylogger. Keyloggers are malicious tools that keep track of your key inputs, which makes it much easier for hackers to gain access to your accounts. The encryption used to protect the files that Recall produces isn't too secure. This is definitely going to cause more users to jump ship to another operating system. What can you do to prevent it if you want to continue using Windows? Well once the newest update rolls out and enables the feature, immediately disable Recall in your settings. Or simply turn off updates, but that's not recommended as it could cause other security issues. You can see how this can become a huge issue by watching this video:

What video games did you replay many times after completion?
Ravenfreak replied to Kennysplash's topic in Gaming Forum
I always go back and replay through Sonic 3 and Knuckles. I also love going back and replaying through Legend of Legaia as well as Digimon World 3 from time to time. I tend to do this more with games I played as a kid and have nostalgia for. I've also been going back and replaying the Generation 1 Pokemon games too, which is odd since it's not even my favorite generation of Pokemon Gen 3 is. -
The Fate of Radio Stations: Will They Eventually Fade Away?
Ravenfreak replied to killamch89's topic in Music
This is a interesting topic, I think radio stations aren't going to go away because there's so many businesses that have radios set up that play for hours. Maybe when my generation gets older and the younger generations become adults and have their own businesses, radio stations may cease to exist. I know my local barber shop always has it on a local radio station rather than someone's Spotify playlist. -
Has becoming an adult changed your gaming habits?
Ravenfreak replied to Kennysplash's topic in Gaming Forum
I used to game much more when I was a kid than I do as an adult. There would be times I would play games literally all day, especially during the summertime or on the weekends. Now as a adult, I play games for maybe two hours at the longest. It's even less time if it's a weeknight since I usually just play a game for around an hour before I have to go to bed. -
Did anyone watch the Knuckles series yet? It started streaming last Friday, and I already finished it up last weekend. I was going into the show with high hopes since both of the films were great! However, the 6 episode mini series wasn't what I was expecting at all. It wasn't bad, but it could have been much better. I won't go into great detail since I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't watched the series yet, but all I will say if you're going into this show and expecting it to be based around Knuckles, well you're going to have a bad time. Surprisingly most reviews for the show were positive, with only a few review sites giving it a negative score. There were a few people that appeared in the show that I wasn't expecting to see/hear, and there was a reference to one of my most favorite movies that starred Woody Harrelson. Anyways if you liked the two films, might as well give this show a watch too.

The Ninja Gaiden series has been around since 1988 and has many different sequels that have been released throughout the years. If you've ever played the series, which game did you start with? Also have you ever played the Sega Master System game that was released in 1992 and was completely different from the NES game? I've only played a bit of the original NES game, and man it's difficult! I'm thinking about giving the Master System game a go and seeing if I can eventually beat that game. I'm currently listening to the OST for the SMS version and man there's some catchy tunes!

I remember playing Paperboy on the Super Nintendo at my friend's house. It was the first version I ever played too, and thought it was pretty cool. I never played the later titles though, I have tried out the Genesis version a bit too and thought it was fun.

The first time I tried giving Shining Force a go, I absolutely hated it because I wasn't a fan of tactical RPGs. However, years later I gave it another go and actually really enjoyed it! I eventually finished the game, and started on the sequel but got stuck and never picked it up again. :V I would like to eventually get around to beating the other games in the series.

Unfortunately this morning my cat Gizmo passed away. He lived a long life and was 16 years old, he was a Maine coon mix so he lived longer than expected. It's been odd not having him around the house, and my kitten Mochi can tell that something is up. Anyways what do you like to do whenever you lose a pet? I've been just doing what I normally do, listen to music, posting on forums, and I plan on playing video games later this evening. It still feels weird to me though, and I have moments where I start tearing up.

My favorite genres are platformers and RPGs. I prefer turned based RPGs to hack n slash ones. I don't mind hack and slash, though I can get overwhelmed playing games in the genre since I struggle to come up with the best possible way of defeating bosses. Turned base gives me more time to process the strategy I'm going to use. I'm also more fond of 2D platformers but I like 3D ones as well. Of course I prefer Sonic to any other franchise, so fast paced platformers are more fun than slower ones IMO.

I'm going to be 34 on the 13th and I still watch animated movies. I know people older than me who also enjoy animated movies as well, so I believe animated movies are for everyone. This also goes for animated shows and anime in general too. Of course there are cartoons that are aimed towards adults that kids shouldn't be watching.

I started with the Sega Genesis myself! Though that model pictured didn't come out until 1993, however it's the model I got when I was 8 years old. My cousins had the model 1 and it was the first console I ever played too since they brought it over to my grandparent's house. I actually own four of them currently and a decent clone console too.

While browsing Youtube I noticed a video titled "What if AI made a Sonic The Hedgehog theme song?" so I had to check it out. Surprisingly the song was pretty good, there were a few parts of the song that it was obvious that a AI created it and it was trying it's hardest to rhyme so some of the lyrics don't make sense. There's also a part of the song that reminded me of the voices used in Tomodachi Life which gave me a bit of a chuckle. Anyways have you listened to any AI generated music before? Here's a link to the AI generated Sonic theme song if you're interested in listening to it.

Would you have wanted a true successor to the Dreamcast instead?
Ravenfreak replied to Smokey's topic in Xbox
Honesty as a sega kid, I wish things were different and we did get a true successor to the Dreamcast. To be fair though, I wasn't the biggest fan of the Dreamcast when it first came out when I played Sonic Adventure at a Kmart Dreamcast kiosk at the age of 10. (I was stupid and though the game was too different from the Genesis games I was used to playing so I didn't like it at first. That all changed when I got the game on the Gamecube at the age of 15 lol.) It's a shame Sega did too many things that ultimately hurt them in the end. -
I get stressed out if there's lots to do at work. Just today I got a bit stressed since I had three coworkers come up right when we only had three minutes left to get tags from me. I was in the middle of getting things closed out, but since they came over at the last minute I had to rush and hurry up to get things done. I kind of snapped at my coworker a bit since he said "well now you've got a bit of a line." Bro, I know lol. I usually don't snap like that but today I was already a bit cranky.

Let's Talk: Fan-Created Content - Mods & Fan Games
Ravenfreak replied to killamch89's topic in Gaming Forum
I absolutely love the world of ROM hacking and fan games! I'm part of the Sonic hacking community, I'm a judge in the Sonic Hacking Contest and this will be the third year in a row that I get to be a judge. I'm a tech member on Sonic Retro as well, since I have vast knowledge of how the 8-bit Sonic games work. I also like to play Pokemon rom hacks from time to time too, but I've only dabbled in Pokemon ROM hacking a little bit. -
I believed that my dad would get a ticket if I left the overhead light on in the car. :V Turns out you can't get a ticket, it was just a lie he told me. Apparently lots of parents do this though, I've read on Reddit that quite a few people fell for this as a kid too lol.

Thankfully I have not been a victim of a scam. One of my coworkers almost fell for a scam once, but I helped him not fall down that rabbit hole by informing him to block the person on Facebook. He got a message from a good looking woman on Facebook, their conversation started out fine but then she started asking him for gift cards and I told him to block them immediately because that's a huge red flag.

Have you ever cosplayed as your favorite game character?
Ravenfreak replied to killamch89's topic in Gaming Forum
I never cosplayed one of my favorites, I have however cosplayed as one of the Youngsters from the Generation 1 Pokemon games! I cosplayed as the "Hi I like shorts! They're comfy and easy to wear!" youngster when I went to a convention in 2018. I had a sign that had the line from the game on it in a text box that was based on the text box from the English generation 1 games that my wife made for me.
