  1. I'd like to have a 4K tv. I'm planning to get one some time this year.
  2. Nope, I wait until I can get games for $30 or less. The age of the "must-have game" died with 7th gen.
  3. Pokemon Gold and Silver, as well as the Pokemon Stadium games. When I was in grade school, my friends and I spent hundreds of hours playing those. Pokemon was what really got me into gaming back in the day.
  4. I took an entire week's vacation from work to play Metal Gear Solid 5 when it released. Huge mistake.
  5. I like my RPG characters to be either completely fleshed out or completely blank slates, nothing in-between. Few things in games irritate me more than making a custom character, starting to roleplay, then getting a backstory forced on me by an NPC.
  6. Fallout: New Vegas (Small map by today's standards, but over 300 marked locations and most of them were unique.) Elden Ring (There are certain areas you can only get to by doing really obscure things, or deliberately trying to boundary break the game. If you just do the story, you can miss out on literally half of the explorable areas.)
  7. Dark Souls 2 had this underground area that was so dark, you had to light torches so you didn't walk off the rickety platforms and fall to your death. It was annoying as hell.
  8. I've always been fascinated by the city of Midgar and general Shinra civilization in FFVII. The Vendeeni in Star Ocean 3 have fascinating technology and starship design. In the Horizon series I like the Carja (who have done an amazing job of building a new civilization after the apocalypse) and the Oseram (who have a unique smithery-centric culture and are surprisingly tech-savvy). I also like the Al Bhed in FFX.
  9. It's about damn time! I'm not buying it, but I'm happy it's finally coming out after 12 years. Development cycles are ludicrous now. I recently found out that Fallout 5 won't even start development until after Elder Scrolls 6 is released, which is targeted for 2027-2028 (16-17 years after Skyrim). That means we likely won't see Fallout 5 until around 2035, a full 20 years after Fallout 4 released. You can now literally raise a family in the time it takes for a AAA dev to make a sequel to one of their flagship titles.
  10. Generally I prefer 40 hours or less for an RPG, and 12 hours or less for anything else. If I spend 100+ hours on a game I want it to be because I enjoy the game and played it multiple times, not because the devs didn't know how to trim pointless fluff out of the game.
  11. Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a great game for relaxing. I need to get back to that so I can finish some projects I was working on. And then start some new ones.
  12. Thanks. The main reasons are that there are only 3 or so games exclusive to the 9th gen that interest me so far, and I still have a lot of 8th-gen games that I want to buy. I'll probably wait for 10th gen to buy a new console, unless they get rid of physical media, in which case I'll get a hybrid gaming PC instead. With physical media gone the only advantage consoles will have is a streamlined UI, which I might as well trade in for DRM-free digital copies and mods.
  13. I used to be heavily into JRPGs, but now I tend to play more WRPGs as most of the big JRPG series have crashed and burned by this point, and the genre as a whole keeps moving further away from what it used to be. I also like Fighting games and Survival/Horror games.
  14. No, not those prequels. Have you ever played a game with background lore which was as good as or better than the game's main story, and it made you want to see a prequel? If so, share yours here. A big one for me would be Final Fantasy X. I'd love to see S-E make a prequel set 1,000+ years before FFX, during the machina war between Zanarkand and Bevelle. Maybe Shuyin and Lenne could be the main characters, and we'd finally get to see Yu Yevon when he was a human, and the game could end with him performing the initial summoning of Sin. I think it would be fascinating to see Spira before Sin destroyed it. They could also explain the origins of the Al Bhed, which I'm curious about. A prequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn would also be great. I'd love to see a third-person shooter where you have to fight the Faro machine swarm to buy time for the Zero Dawn project to be completed.
  15. I'd like to, but I just don't have the time and won't for the forseeable future. Every time I get a really good game idea, though, I write it down on my computer.
  16. When Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire first came out, I was massively disappointed in them. I considered them a massive downgrade from Gold/Silver/Crystal because they got rid of so many improvements those games had made, such as animated sprites and the day/night cycle. Also I thought a lot of the new pokemon designs were uninspired. But over the years, I came to realize that in their own way, those games were actually better than their predecessors, despite their flaws. Now the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald gen is one of my favorite pokemon gens.
  17. Sekiro. I love the game, and I want to finish it eventually, but I can't even scratch the first boss. It has to to with the combat being rythm based, and I'm not very good at rythm games.
  18. Ok, here's how things went: There was no installed data on the HDD for either game beyond save data, so that was a no-go. I did decide to update the console, which thankfully went smoothly, but didn't fix the issue. Both games are on their latest version (pretty sure they were never even updated post-release). I did try plugging my PS4 controller into my PS3, and both analogs worked fine. So it's got to be an issue with that 3rd-party controller. I have a hunch that either when I dropped the controller a couple times, or maybe when I was doing Lulu's overdrives in FFX (which require rapidly spinning the left analog), that stick may have been slightly messed up. Another reason I think this is that the issue seems to only affect the left stick. I'm planning to take it apart and see if any of the sensors came loose.
  19. Thanks, I'll try reinstalling the games and see if that fixes anything. I've had the console disconnected from the internet for years and I don't want to update it because of a bug where updating will brick PS3s that have dying bluetooth or wifi parts (and I suspect mine does), but I'll see if reinstalling does anything.
  20. I was playing all of these games on the PS3, and the controller is made by Auroce (never heard of the company before, but the controller seemed really solid and worked for both FFX and FFX-2). I also tried Demon's Souls and Red Dead Redemption with that controller, and both games worked fine.
  21. Just finished FFX-2. I was planning to play Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 next, but unfortunately it seems that those games won't properly read diagonal input from my new 3rd-party controller's analog sticks. Whenever I try to move diagonally, Sora slows to a walk. The games are nearly unplayable with this bug, so I've shelved them until I can get yet another new controller.
  22. Just thought of another one while I was on the main menu of the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 remaster: I'd love to see a remake of Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. So far it's the only full Roxas game in the series, but it's sadly trapped on the DS with bad framerates, clunky controls, and low-quality models and textures. I may have sworn off S-E products following them horribly botching the FFVII remake, but if they remade Days properly, I'd buy it.
  23. One of the reasons I like the RE series is that the games aren't open world and can be beaten in 12 hours or less. I'll definitely pass on this one.
  24. The game I've bought the most copies of is probably Fallout: New Vegas (X360 standard, X360 Ultimate Edition, PC Ultimate Edition, and PS3 Ultimate Edition). Some others are: Final Fantasy VII (PS3 digital, PS4 digital, Remake, and PC) Fallout 3 (X360 GOTY, PC GOTY, and PS3 GOTY) Kingdom Hearts (PS2, Japanese PS2 Final Mix, PS3 HD Remaster)
  25. Sadie Adler From RDR2. I'd really like to see more of what she was up to while she was a bounty hunter. Roxas from the Kingdom Hearts series. I'd love to see him get his own home console game. Years ago, I had a fairly detailed concept for a KH game where Roxas was the main character, and he journeyed to different worlds in the Realm of Darkness (mostly worlds from various anime series) with Xion and Axel as his sidekicks. Rachel from Ninja Gaiden. I would've loved to see her get her own hack-'n-slash game. Haytham Kenway from Assassin's Creed 3. One of my favorite characters from that series, it's sad that he hasn't gotten his own game yet.
