Mass Effect 2 comes to mind. Imagine, if you will: It's been more than two years after the first game. Mass Effect 2 was released. You're excited. You finally get to become Commander Shepard again and reunite with the Normandy crew once more. You might've ignored all the trailers to avoid spoilers. You start the game. It's 10 minutes in. Commander Shepard is dead. I think it's even better than the Fallout: New Vegas opening because here, you actually get to play out the opening to your death. "Wait, what did I do wrong? Did I reach a bad ending?" I haven't really forgotten much of that first time I played ME2. I played the first ME around 2009, maybe, so it wasn't as long for me, the period between ME1 and ME2, but I still had the "waitwut" experience. I also feel like Detroit: Become Human did a great job with starting the game putting you as Connor. That electrifying and heart-pumping Connor theme just softly playing in the background, muffled. Connor doing his cool coin trick. Who is this guy, and why is he so badass? Because that's how he can come off as in the first level alone (depending on your decisions), resolving a hostage situation with ease and walking away like a master detective.

Well, as with all things, there's truth to both sides of the argument. For me, I like it if the game I played on a PS4 gets remastered on the PS5 with better graphics that looks sharper on my 4K TV. I wouldn't mind selling my PS4 games just for that reason alone because I enjoy good graphics on my games, contrary to many gamers I've seen. Aside from graphics update, there might also be other improvements like bug fixes or better UI. Of course, this isn't a hard and fast rule for me because... look what happened to Spider-Man PS5, replacing John Bubniak with Ben Jordan. I don't want another actor. It feels strange because the point of replaying the same game would be to have that familiar experience again for nostalgia's sake. What kind of nostalgia would I have with a different actor? Plus, Ben's expressions are kinda more boring than John's emotive animation. And then you have Nintendo... Good luck playing your 3DS games on the Switch. But even counting its handheld consoles, I'd much rather play a DS game over a Gameboy game because, again, betters graphics, even if not by much. Really helps that Gamefreak remakes their older Pokémon games, giving me more reasons to sell my older games... except maybe the notorious Diamond/Pearl remake. I don't particularly like the chibi graphic change of that one, but that's just me.

Right, because as we all know, the vocal minority is always the most reliable source of information, especially on the Internet. 🙄 People really should make up their own mind about shows after they watch it. Never judge a book by its cover. At the very least, read the reviews if you don't want to waste your time. I mean, if you want to compare lewd fanart, I could show you a truckload of rule 34 content for Lara Croft alone. I could tell you it's as numerous as the lewd fanart of multiple anime series combined. By the logic of rule 34, any show could have lewd fanart, because as the rule states, "If it exists, there's Internet porn of it." Don't get me started on deepfake porn of celebrities. Even live action isn't safe. Also, it makes me question the taste of the person complaining about perverse anime content because it means they either 1) judged a show by its fanart, or 2) watched a perverse anime series instead of the countless normal ones. Either way, their judgment is sus.

I could only do that for simulation games. Even then, I'm not fond of the concept as 1) I could only concentrate on one thing at a time, so music might distract me, and 2) I'm a purist on some level who prefers to listen to the kind of soundtrack the developers had for the game, even if I've heard it before. Plus, I'd have to micromanage my music since I don't have playlists prepared.

Definitely not, but only because I'm not competent enough to get a high K/D in the first place. There's no enjoyment in losing. I don't even pay much attention to the winning streak while I'm playing Pokemon: Trading Card Online. I'm someone prone to conceding a match if it looks like I'll lose.

Nope, but I bought one for $500, not including the $250 NVIDIA 1070 Ti graphic card I later requested to be installed.

4/10. Not bad, but sounds rather generic. This song from House of Fata Morgana. Sounds like a happy tune, but not really the case in context of the story if you understand the Portuguese lyrics.

I feel like I'd be saying Nay very often in this thread, considering how picky I am. ^ Nay Age of Mythology

1) I'm too insecure to flirt with anyone. 2) See question 1. 3) No. I take adultery very seriously, even with fictional characters.

The dislike of "anime artstyle." If anyone actually watches more than the typical mainstream anime, you'd know how ridiculous that statement is, considering the numerous artstyles anime series have. Don't get me started on the misconception that all anime is filled with perverse content.

Lukewarm. I do have trouble sleeping when it's too hot (which happens often when you're living near the equator like in Singapore), but my newly bought electric wall fan has kept the room cool enough that I usually didn't have trouble sleeping for the past month or so. I try not to turn the AC on while sleeping because it can get too cold to be comfortable (even at 25 degrees Celsius), not to mention giving me a cold the following morning.

Ben Stiller can't act IMO. He's one of those actors movie stars who just plays himself in whatever roles he's in. But I guess that's what they were going for here, Ben acting like Ben. Even John Travolta would've made a better Kratos.

Anytime. I've only used it to play my usual game so far, House of Fata Morgana. No issue with it, except that with Gen 1 Switches, they might pop up a notification if your game was originally played on another Switch or something: "Checking if the game can be played." It's a little annoying and takes up a few seconds, but no other faults so far. I don't have a lot of Switch games to be honest other than Chaos;Head Double Pack, Pokémon games, and the two Fire Emblem games on Switch.

Well, the good news is that the Committee of Zero patch is almost finished, about 98 or 99% done, and should be released by the end of November when they're done fixing up some last minute bugs (a result of the "unpatched version" that you want to play).
-
Yeah, the more I've read about the official unpatched version of Chaos;Head, the more I'm convinced that playing it is an injustice to the story and characters, because the "changes" they've made in censorship totally changed not just the atmosphere of the story, but the motivation of the characters. It's like making Tony Soprano a mundane drugdealer or something instead of a big time mob boss. The OLED version requires a hard-mod, meaning soldering a mod onto its motherboard or something. Expensive stuff. They sell modded OLEDs for S$850+ a pop over here in Singapore, or $600 USD. The cheap way to mod it, which is what I did, is to buy a Gen 1 Switch that was soft-modded (or buying a second-hand Gen 1 Switch and mod it yourself using YouTube instructional videos).

What popular TV shows or Movies have you never seen?
Akun replied to reecedouglas1's topic in Movies & TV
Yeah, but "something new" hasn't withstood the test of time yet. I like to wait and check out old shows when they're old enough that people could still look back and said, "That's a AAA 10/10 show." -

I like to see what the big deal is with popular shows because I enjoy watching quality shows. Popularity doesn't always equate to quality, of course, but then you have Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men and Breaking Bad, the four of which I did watch and enjoy. -

Google is your best friend. Plus, they're popular enough that I've heard them talked about very often. -
I heard of this legendary problem, but I've never really experienced it myself, probably because 1) the Switch is not my main gaming console, so I don't play it much, and 2) when I do play it, it's for visual novels these days like House of Fata Morgana, which doesn't really require much input other than pressing A to move forward the speech (there's even an auto button so you don't even need to press anything at all).

Where do I even start? Star Trek and all its sequels/movies Star Wars: Rogue One (since we're only talking about the popular entries that didn't have any controversies) Black Adam Shazam Aquaman Justice League: The Snyder Cut Deadpool 2 There Will Be Blood No Country for Old Men Every single Wes Anderson film except "Fantastic Mr. Fox" Top Gun: Maverick The Hobbit trilogy Spider-Man: Far from Home All pre-Timothy Dalton James Bond films except "Dr. No" and a "From Russia with Love" viewing that I barely remember much of Forrest Gump Rocky 2-6, along with both "Creed" films Saving Private Ryan North by Northwest Encanto Better Call Saul (I'm still at season 2 of Breaking Bad) The 100 Lost The Office US House of Cards The Shield The Good Place Sons of Anarchy Dark The Expanse Narcos The Punisher Stranger Things Riverdale Peaky Blinders How I Met Your Mother BoJack Horseman (dropped after one episode; will pick it up again in the future) The Walking Dead The Big Bang Theory Arrested Development Modern Family Orange is the New Black What We Do in the Shadows Suits The Mandalorian 24 Arrow The Flash Just another reminder how many shows I need to watch someday. -
The first name that comes to my mind was Bullfrog Productions (which is part of the really useful picture posted by Shagger above), which developed Theme Hospital (the spiritual predecessor of Two Point Hospital). I always loved the morbid humor of the cutscenes in TH (including the doctor cutting someone up with a chainsaw and an evil grin), which was unfortunately not present in TPH. Shame that studio went dead since they were going to develop Theme Movie Studio. I would've loved that. I think the one studio I haven't seen in Shagger's picture is Ensemble Studios, which was responsible for not just the Age of Empires series 1-3, but also Age of Mythology, the only "Age of" series I've played and a beloved classic from my childhood. That game got me into my passion for mythology hard, so I'm really grateful for that game.

My first was a Gamboy Color, playing Pokemon and stuff. Unfortunately, there was this bully in primary school who tricked me into "borrowing" him the Gameboy and all the cartridges. I never got them back and had to downgrade to a Gameboy Pocket (which was also stolen in secondary school). My Gameboy SP and DS fared better fates though.

Detroit: Become Human. *peeks at my avatar* 😆 If you're into visual novels, I could certainly recommend some since they're definitely very story-centric (as long as you could stand reading and have butt loads of time). Let's not forget the Mass Effect trilogy of course. If you don't mind indie games, I'll also recommend Spiritfarer. Bring tissues for the latter.

Vertical with my PS5 because I don't have that much space to begin with in my apartment-sized bedroom.
