Should all sports games jump to a live service model?
Shortie replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
I couldn't agree more with the people will still buy it year in and year out. I know myself I have done but that has been because my kids play it and I purchase it for them. Many will complain but because that is what they do and they release the game yearly, they are going to want to play it and their only option is to purchase it because what other choice do they have? I would say the best way to get them to release updates over a brand-new game at retail price would be to just not bother purchasing but that would have to get everyone on board and that would be the difficult part. -
I would love to see a GameCube Classic style mini console released. I know with Sega they released a mini version of their console, didn't they also do it with the Super Nintendo if I remember rightly. I know if they were to release a mini style console it would definitely have a lot of interest, as you say there are a lot of games that have been lost to the GameCube due to the fact that they were never re-released on any other platform. This would give them the opportunity to re-release these games with a mini console and who doesn't like going back to older games and console for nostalgia purposes?

I have been part of a clan, yes. I remember back in 2008 I met a few people when playing Saints Row and we got playing and moved to Rainbow Six Vegas 2 where we continued our clan there and met a group of people who had another clan. We used to have a ton of fun going up against each other in terrorist hunt or in custom made matches as a friendly fun time between 2 clans. After a while we moved to Halo 3 where we continued our clan until everyone started moving on due to life away from gaming becoming busy and the clan disbanded.

I have played PSOBB! The last time I played the game though was back in 2020 on the Xbox as they released the game on consoles a few years ago. As much as I love the game, I just haven't found the time to be able to jump on and play like I used to, mainly because I get so addicted to it when I do play and then everything else gets pushed to the side. I know at some point I will jump back on again, but it will be a time when I have more time to be able to get stuck in.

As much as RGB does look awesome and does brighten up your area it's not always necessary if I am honest. If you have the extra funds to be able to go the extra mile for RGB then I say go for it but if you are looking for budget to start out, I wouldn't sweat it about the RGB and just try and work your way up to get that eventually. I at the moment have an RGB keyboard that cost me £20 that lights up in rainbow but does nothing more. I have an RGB gaming mouse that my son gave me as he got another mouse for his PC and that flashes different colors but that was part of a bundle and my PC tower has RGB but it's just red and for me right now, I am happy with that.

Witcher Remake Will Be Open World according to devs
Shortie replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
I myself have not either played The Witcher 1 or 2 if I am honest but knowing that there is another game coming out now will push me to play those two before the new one. It would seem that Open World seems a lot more popular now with games and with The Witcher being so popular as well it's a mixture that will work so well in my opinion. I myself love open world games and I feel once I have played the games I haven't yet, this will be one I will jump into out of curiosity. -
Patent reveals that Sony is working on NFT and Blockchain Tech
Shortie replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
I wouldn't look too far into this right away unless Sony actually come out and confirm that is what they are working on. All too often you will see things like this filed and rumors will run riot and they never amount to anything in the end or only so many do and it's usually not the ones you thought would to be honest. With the way people are with NFT's this could just be something they did to secure what they needed but whether or not they do bother with NFT's is a different story. -
Dead Island 2 Delayed yet again, releases April 28th 2023
Shortie replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
I think it's a really good idea that they have chosen to delay it by 12 weeks, they feel themselves that the game is not ready to be pushed out to the public and if they feel it isn't ready then they should delay. 12 weeks gives them enough time to address the issues they have and release a final game that is up to the standard they want and will be happy with. Anyone who is looking forward to this I feel should be happy about the delay as it means they will get a better finished product without the issue of running into a lot of problems or the game being unplayable. -
Should all sports games jump to a live service model?
Shortie replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
I couldn't agree more with you. One game that comes to mind mainly because my kids play it and always want the newest one every year is FIFA. I know that this year was the last Fifa and things are changing next year from what they told me but over the years it's been a brand-new game with barely any changes, and you are basically paying retail price for a game you already have with a few updates, and it seems crazy. Having one base game release and then firing out patches for new updates would definitely be the way to go and I really feel it's time for them to adapt. Unfortunately, I feel like some game developers just get greedy and will continue with the yearly releases which is a shame. -
I agree, even myself when I am playing games such as Fortnite and even the new Just Dance game, you can tell how much the console is struggling with newer games, especially the more they update as well, and I feel the only way the Nintendo Switch is going to keep up is if Nintendo do release a newer more powerful and more upgraded Switch. I agree, it's been rumored for a while now and usually when we get a lot of rumors, there does seem to be some truth in them. Time will tell I guess but definitely for them to continue in the console world they will need to stay up with the newest games.

Yes, I really do feel that tablets do have a future in gaming for sure, even now so many games are bringing their own mobile version to tablets and phones, one of the more recent ones was Warzone and Apex Legends. I see more games in the near future doing the same if I am honest. I know myself especially with some games I would much rather play them on a tablet than say a phone purely because of the bigger screen and it's just easier for me to play with a bigger screen.

Do you think 7th gen consoles will ever become "retro"?
Shortie replied to NightmareFarm's topic in Platforms
In the end I always feel that everything becomes retro, it just varies on how many years it takes before it is classed as retro or before people refer to them as retro. Things like the Xbox Series S & X or the PS5 are going to be a while before they are ever classed as retro, but I don't see either Sony or Microsoft stopping there with their consoles and eventually things will progress and become better when technology gets better and eventually these will be retro consoles. Things like the original Xbox and the Xbox 360 I would say could be classed as retro to some extent much like the Super Nintendo, Gameboy and even the Sega Master System are now what we call retro. -
This is amazing and with cloud gaming becoming more and more popular it's definitely something you can jump on for that price and take advantage of cloud gaming. It woudl be amazing to see just what games they have to offer and I am definitely going to keep an eye out for more reviews as well just to see how good it is compared to as you say the Steam Deck. As much as I would love to see Xbox bring in a handheld console, it seems other places are doing it before them with the cloud, makes me wonder depending on what games they have to offer, will it ever be worth Xbox releasing one?

Sony Ps4 The Last Of Us Part 2 $9.99
Shortie replied to Reality vs Adventure's topic in Video Game Deals
I see it's gone back up in price now so definitely only a price for Black Friday it seems. Still that was a bargain price for anyone who still needs to pick it up and I would expect them to maybe drop the price again at some point in other sales if I am honest. Do they do sales nearer Christmas? If so, that could be a great time to check again to see if it's dropped to that price again. -
I do feel that it has become somewhat of a gimmick if I am honest especially with just about everyone jumping on the VR train and releasing their own. I know my youngest keeps asking me for a VR headset, but I have often been put off by the price as they are not exactly cheap and I also feel that if I was to purchase one, I would purchase it for the whole family and not just one person especially for the price. I guess my concern would be that I myself and also my youngest suffer from motion sickness and I had heard that VR can bring on motion sickness and I would hate to have purchased one and then some of us not be able to use it.

I would love to see Simpsons Road Rage or Simpsons Hit and Run brought back or remade if I am honest. I remember especially with Simpsons Hit and Run I loved that game and spent so many hours on it just playing through, completing everything. I think in the end I finally completed the game 100% I had that much fun with it. To be able to go through it again now especially after it's been so long since I played it before and go back to it in better quality on a newer console would be awesome. We can only hope they choose to remake them or bring them back someday.

I think if they were to release another portable console, they would have to get it as close to their PS5 as possible but in handheld form for it to be a hit. Many now want something that they can use when on the go and at times when they can not take their PS5 with them, something like a handheld with cross-progression would be amazing for those who want to be able to game on the go still. If they were to get it as close to their PS5 but for on the go, I feel it would be a huge hit for PlayStation fans.

I have often been annoyed by the fact that I have to add people, or they have to add me using a friend code rather than just a username or a gamertag like with PlayStation and Xbox. I don't mind adding people the friend code way, but it can be a pain doing that and making sure you get it right when a username would be so much easier to do to add someone. I am hoping that one day they will change their online service and get a better online network where you can use usernames or gamertags rather than friend codes, as of yet though, no word on if they will ever change this.

At the moment I still have the grey joy cons that came with the very first Nintendo Switch console and I did buy some third-party ones a few years ago for my kids so they could all play Just Dance together at Christmas, and they are orange and blue. My current official joy cons do have stick drift, so I am looking to get new ones in the future. The ones I have been looking at and do like are the Orange and Purple official joy cons mainly for the purple color. I would love for them both to just be purple, but it seems they only do one color for both in third-party, I haven't as of yet seen any official ones that are the same color aside from the grey ones you get with the console.

The fact that people are willing to sit and code a fan made version of a game is just amazing and as you say, some of them are just amazing and definitely worth being looked into my game developers in possibly bringing them in to work for them. I can only imagine the number of hours they must put in to get the game to get it where it's playable with limited problems and get barely any recognition for the game is very sad. Hopefully one day developers will pick up on those who make fan made games and appreciate them a little more than they do now.

I would love to see Xbox release a portable console if I am honest and it's been something I have longed to see them release and as of yet, they haven't. I think this is the only thing they have not gone for in terms of Microsoft and Xbox and now with the Cloud and the ability to game anywhere even with a phone and a tablet, it does make me wonder if they will ever consider a portable console or they will just not bother due to the cloud option. I will still keep my hopes up though for a portable console from them as you never know with Microsoft and Xbox.

This is awesome and the first I have heard of this. I do still have an original Xbox upstairs that I kept that I could try this on just to be able to go back. It would bring back a lot of memories to be able to go back to the Xbox Live 1.0 service. I remember how basic the first Xbox was and their online service so being able to go back to that and just see how much things have changed over the year would be amazing.

I am a true believer that if you are interested in a game, you should totally give it a whirl as you can never know if you will enjoy it unless you try it. I myself have played State of Decay 1 & 2 and I enjoyed both of them, but I am a different person and what I enjoyed may not be something you enjoy. If you are able to snag then at a bargain price, I say give it a shot, you may be quite surprised and at least if you didn't like it, you didn't waste a lot of money.

I am not sure how popular amiibos are now, but I know they were really popular at one point. I myself didn't end up collecting any but my brother was one who would collect them, and he had quite a few of them and was always showing me the ones, he had collected. They were so cute, and I would have loved to collect them myself but money wise, it wasn't something that was in my budget at the time.

At the moment I have one wired third-party controller for my Nintendo Switch and they official joy-cons that I got with the Nintendo Switch when it was purchased. My third-party controller is a newer one that I got on offer a few weeks ago due to my current controller having a lot of stick drift. Unfortunately, my official joy cons also have stick drift, and I would love to be able to replace those but at the moment, I haven't been able to get around to it.
