Hey Reality vs Adventure, i hope you well! 🙂 Yes mate tell me about it, VR takes games to another level it really does, ill admit i was not prepared for just how much more immersive VR is when i played Paranormal Activity, as it really did scare the crap out of me bigtime. I must admit though it makes all the difference when you hook up a quest 2 to a capable gaming PC, as running the quest 2 on its own as a standalone headset is fun, but when hooked up to a gaming rig and setup properly, the difference is night and day it really is. I played Lone echo where you are a robot helping your human commander maintain a helium 3 mining rig, which is orbiting Saturn, when i first looked out of the cockpit window and saw Saturn and its rings close up it was awesome, also Half Life Alyx is probably the best looking VR game to date, which when the graphics are maxed out in PCVR looks mind blowing, i really am getting into PCVR now, as its at a level now where it looks believable which is great! 🙂 Hi Kyng, i hope you good pal! 🙂 Yes mate outlast was a weird one, which you either loved or hated, but it was scary as hell, like i said before, i think its the fact that you cant fight back that makes it worse, all you can do is run and hide! 🙂 Im not great with horror games mate in all honesty, but i like the rush youu can get if its a well made game, like the one im playing at the moment, which is on my channel, The Devil In Me. Its scary as hell once it gets going, but its welll made and the graphics are awesome! 🙂

Hi Kane99, i hope your well bud! 🙂 Yes mate i get your point totally, most games left a lot to be desired when it comes to their controls back in those days, but yeah Silent Hill and even Resident Evil for that matter were clunky to say the least! Thank god games have improved dramatically over the years, as i do remember a few occasions where i struggled to pass a certain point in a game or beat a certain enemy, because of bad controls, it was so frustrating! It would be great if they were to re master the silent hills like they have the original RE's, with better physics engines and controls, as there really were good games and like you say, the atmosphere is what made Silent Hill so scary. Like i was saying to Empire above, ive heard on the grapevine that they might be developing a new Silent Hill, which is way overdue in my opinion, i just hope they do it right and do the old games justice, as they have some very big shoes to fill! 🙂

Hi all, just to let you know that i have just started playing and uploading to our YouTube channel, the forth and final game in the first season of the Dark Pictures Anthology, The Devil In Me. This game look's really good and is based on the story of H H Holmes, America's first serial killer and a possible suspect in the "Jack the Ripper" murders. So yeah this game promises to be the best yet in the Dark Pictures Anthology and the one i have been dying to play! 🙂 So why not visit my channel and join me on this journey through the dark and sinister world of The Devil In Me! 🙂

Hey Empire, i hope your good! 🙂 You see that is exactly what i meant when i said in my post that i was hoping you guys could jog my memory regarding scary games ive played in the past, as i always seem to have a brain fart when trying to recall games for topics i create lol, it must be old age catching up with me 🙂 But yes mate i have to completely agree with you 110% on your choices, especially regarding Silent Hill and RE, as those are probably the first 2 proper horror games i played and boy did they leave their mark, in fact i cant believe i did not remember Silent hill, as it is one of my all time favorite horror games, closely followed by RE! I think maybe its because its been so long since i have had to pleasure of playing Silent Hill, too long in fact, as such a big name game should have been continued, which has been promised on numerous occasions, but up to press has not been followed through unfortunately! 😞 But there is hope on the horizon, as ive heard that there is a new Silent Hill in development, which will be awesome! 🙂 As to RE, the first ones used to scare that crap out of me, now im not sure if its because i was a lot younger when i played them, or if its the games themselves that just aren't as scary, but the newer RE's just dont have the same effect on me as the old ones did, maybe all the years of gaming have numbed me to the point of not being effected as much?? dont get me wrong though, i still love the newer RE's, but just dont find them as scary is all! Also yes Visage was a good one too, but there was only parts of it that i found scary if im honest, well scary enough to make me uncomfortable anyway, but as a game it was really good and looked great graphically, especially for a lower budget game. I did consider playing it in VR via VorpX when i got it, but ended up deciding against it and playing it normally lol if i remember correctly it wasn't that long after i had played Paranormal Activity in VR, which is why i decided against it hahaha like i said in my original comment, ive not attempted playing another horror in VR yet since Paranormal Activity! all in good time! 🙂

Sorry Blackangel, i thought i had quoted you on this comment! 😞 As to your comment, yeah i suppose it is similar to the Matrix, but not as serious! 🙂 dont get me going on the Matrix subject and how we are all blind to reality, as this comment will be about 20 pages long lol As to Hyrule, i was never really a big Zelda fan if im honest, although i have played some of it in the past. I can see why you would like the world though, in much the same way why i would like the Skyrim or Dragonage worlds. I do agree with your comment about the FF8 world though, i also stated in one of my above comments that i would love to visit both FF7 and FF8 worlds, as those are the two FF's that had the most impact on me and that i really got into, they would defo have to contain the soundtrack though, as that was one of the biggest immersion factors of the FF games! 🙂 also yeah RDR2 without a doubt! 🙂

Hey all, ive recently been playing the Dark Pictures Anthology games for my YouTube channel and it got me thinking of all the good horror games ive played over the years, some that really scared the crap out of me if im honest! 🙂 What i would like to know is, what scary games scared you the most and what was it about the game that really effected you? I always remember Playing Dead Space back when it was released in 2008, which really gave my younger self the creeps, much in the same way that the Event Horizon film did. I suppose its because you are stuck out in space with no where to run and being hunted by some unknown entity, Also when playing Dead Space its the monsters that get you, as you blow off their limbs and they are still trying to get to you! I also remember Outlast being a scary game, as you were making your way around an old mental asylum, with nothing but a camcorder, so no way to defend yourself or fight back against the nutters within. i remember the sense of helplessness being really apparent while playing this game, as all you could do was sneak around and run n hide if spotted. A lot of the game was in the dark as well, so you had to use the night vision ability of your camcorder to see where you were going, but you had limited power and had to find batteries, so u had to use it sparingly, which meant a lot of time playing in the dark. The probably scariest experience to date was my latest, which was Paranormal Activity The Lost Soul, which i played via PCVR on my Quest 2 and it scared the crap out of me, to the point where i had to keep having breaks and genuinely did not want to play it anymore and really considered quitting the game unfinished lol. Obviously it was due to playing the game in VR that really made the difference, but what a difference it made wow! You have to imagine i was at home alone, with my VR headset on and a good pair of surround sound headphones turned up to 11, so i could hear every creak and bang. In this game you are in a haunted house, but because of VR you really are in the house, walking round with things moving, floorboards creaking and doors slamming, that was before any of the really scary crap started occurring, it really did scare the life out of me and i dont mind admitting it. Its one thing to play a scary game on a screen, but when in VR its on another level. lets just say ive not played another horror game in VR yet lol, i will eventually but just not yet hahaha I know ive played and been really scared by numerous games over the years, but the off top of my head the above games are what spring to mind. But im sure others will mention games that ive played that scared them, which will jog my memory! 🙂 So yeah what game scared you the most and why?? 🙂

I have to agree with you @Kane99 i think unfortunately its the only way forward i can see personally, as its already well on the way to becoming that way. The music industry, Film and TV industry and even the Book industry have all become victims of the same trend! 😞 it is sad really, as its the end of an era and i know personally i prefer to have an actual physical copy when i buy something, be it game, film, album or book, as you actually own that product then for life, instead of the rights to watch or read a digital copy of something. Its the same with money too, people are moving away from having actual notes or coins anymore and just using contactless payment methods, which again i have to admit, there is a lot to be said for actually seeing your money in its physical form and using it to buy something, but again its the future, as with everything else in the digital age. I guess its always been the same throughout history, like in the old days when transport relied mostly on steam, when we made the jump to electric motors and the internal combustion engine, a lot of the people that were used to steam did not like it, but they had no choice as there was no stopping progression. I think all the youngest generations have probably never or very rarely bought a physicals copy of anything, as to them digital products are the norm, so i guess were all just old fogies moaning of the old days and ways hahahaha I can see the environmental gain i suppose, from not having to manufacture physical products, but again, probably due to my age, i prefer to own an actual physical item given the choice any day, but fear we are having that choice, slowly but surely, taken away! 😞

Watching full video games on youtube
ImmersionGaming22 replied to Reality vs Adventure's topic in Gaming Forum
Hi all, @Reality vs Adventureyes mate you are correct, sometimes it is easier and more enjoyable in some ways to watch the game being played for you via YouTube, as you can completely focus on the story instead of having to watch and keep an eye on everything else while playing it, plus as you say it saves the hassle of having to setup your old consoles if its an old game your watching, or even just cant be bothered playing the game if its new. That is one of the reasons i started my YouTube channel, which im only really concentrating on the more story focused games with, as they are as good as, if not better than films in my opinion. The other reasons i think a channel like mine is useful is for people who may not be able to afford the games or the hardware needed to play them, especially at the moment where every penny counts. Also some people just cannot play games, as much as they would love to, because of some disability that may mean they simply are not able to play them and i think its only fair that those people still get the chance to be able to experience the awesome stories and work that's gone into some games. I also know quite a few people who just dont play games and never have, but they still enjoy watching them on YouTube in the same way as they would watch a film, so yeah my point is channels like mine do have their uses, as you dont necessarily have to be playing the game to enjoy it! 🙂 As to the commentary on games, i decided to upload 2 versions of every game i upload, which granted is twice the work, but having commentary or not on games videos is a matter of preference and i think its probably 50 50 when it comes to which people prefer, so i decided to upload both, problem solved lol! 🙂 -
Me too mate, but we all deal with things differently and have been through different levels of bad times, so i can also get how someone might not be able to cope due to the memories they are lumbered with, so in those cases i can totally understand why certain people would want to be liberated from specific memories! It would be awesome if we could pinpoint specific memories to wipe rather than a complete re format lol But yeah mate for me personally, ill keep mine as like you say they have put me in better stead when dealing with similar situations and made me much more careful who i place my trust in, which in todays world isn't a bad trait to have unfortunately! 😞

Hi again Kane99! 🙂 Yes mate you completely justified in your opinion and not wrong in any sense, as its impossible to be wrong when discussing tech that, as of now, does not exist! 🙂 this is also why this sort of topic could be discussed at length regarding the possibility, viability, morality etc etc etc buut as it is purely hypothetical at this point we wont truly know until we try! 🙂 or if we ever try, which based on the human races past im very sure we will lol This argument is much the same as the discussion about AI and if it became sentient would it have a soul? As what you are saying is if an exact copy of your brain was made, synapses and everything, but in a digital format, would it not be you, as it would think like you, behave like you, talk like you, love the same people you do and have all your memories and past experiences? The only reason that its not you in my mind is if you believe in the human soul, as apart from the flesh and blood aspect of you, the soul is the only other thing that could possibly be missing?? Hahahaha its a mind bender this one mate, ive thought about it so many times and everyone will have different opinions, as its only based on what we believe is possible at this point, but its the AI discussion that first got me thinking about this a few films have touched on it too, like Blade Runner (one of my favorite films) where the were trying o establish if a replicant could have a soul ("I feel therefore i am") 🙂 Like i say Kane, its a very deep and complex topic, which if you really start peeling up all the layers of gets very deep, but one i find fascinating and as we are at the very beginning of our AI journey as we speak, its one that will become very prominent going forward for the human race! But again mate i totally get your stance on it and can assure you millions will think the same, but none of us know how far this tech could actually go, which is what fascinates me! 🙂

Thanks Blackangel for your support, but i think Shortie will have it in the bag tbh and rightly so, as ive not been on as much as her, or been nearly as helpful, but im just buzzing to be put forward in the first place in all honesty! 🙂

Hi again Kane99 hope you had a good xmas and happy new year bud! 🙂 Oh yet mate i totally get your point, its the same as restoring your windows on your PC from a created restore point! When you restore windows you will only have restored everything to the point of making the restore point, anything you installed or did after that would be lost. I watched a film like that, as what your talking about is like making a digital copy of yourself and storing it for future use, so like you say for grieving relatives for example! i cant remember the name of the film now its annoying me, but this company in the film used to make digital back ups of its most important employee's or something like that just in case the worst should happen, but then it came out about them uploading the copy of one of the main characters into the body of someone else, by accident i believe but i cant be 100% sure as it was years ago that i watched it. anyway i think there was a big twist in the film to do with them uploading people into other peoples bodies without their permission, therefore overwriting them, i think it also went down the line of the rich and powerful being uploaded into the poor but much younger people who in effect sold their younger bodies then were uploaded into the older knackered bodies of the rich people! Crazy stuff but a very good film if i remember rightly! ill let you know if i remember its name! 🙂 Like i say though im talking more about tech that makes an exact copy of your brain, which kills you in you flesh and blood form, but the digital form of you is you warts and all, as its the only version of you left, so it differs from the above copy and store method that you are describing above, as that is just copying someone's psyche, so would not be classed as a person because the real person still exists if that makes sense lol it is in effect just a back up copy. The tech im talking about is separate to that as this is about uploading your complete psyche into a PC of some kind, where you would still exist but just digitally, Im going to post a link below to the Wiki page about this tech as it mentions both the creating a copy of someone and completely uploading someone into a PC which in effect destroys the brain. Also though bud i would not rule it out as impossible, as in reality everything that makes us us is stored within the brain, unless you believe in the human soul, which then may also be stored in the brain, but as its not proven either way whether we have a soul or not its a mute point lol but yeah as i was saying all that makes us who we are is stored in the brain, everything else is just meat and organs needed to keep us alive, so if they do find a way to make an exact copy of everything inside a human brain, so that would be everything that makes you you, your emotions, habits good and bad, your accent, your body language your way of thinking, so if you are a logical thinker or an impulsive person etc etc etc all the info of you is in the brain and the brain functions though electrical impulses, so i dont see it as to far fetched that one day this will be very real indeed, but like i said before when it becomes possible it will spark furious debates over the morality of it all and rightly so, as this kind of tech could be open to some serious forms of abuse. Here is a paragraph from the wiki page i mentioned about this kind of tech, ill post the link to the wiki page below, as its really interesting reading, but yeah in this paragraph it mentions about much of the tech and knowledge to achieve this are already available, but there are still gaps in the needed tech and knowledge, but at the current rate we are progressing tech wise as a species, i personally believe its only a matter of time! 🙂 here's the paragraph! Substantial mainstream research in related areas is being conducted in animal brain mapping and simulation, development of faster supercomputers, virtual reality, brain–computer interfaces, connectomics, and information extraction from dynamically functioning brains.[4] According to supporters, many of the tools and ideas needed to achieve mind uploading already exist or are currently under active development; however, they will admit that others are, as yet, very speculative, but say they are still in the realm of engineering possibility. So yeah mate dont write it off yet as impossible! 🙂 But yeah i did say mate its a very difficult topic to convey, as it has so many variables and grey area's (literally lol) and it sounds like you, like me, are a very logical thinker, so need to know the ifs and buts of how the tech would work and if its even possible lol that's why we could chat for hours over it all, and the possible problems with it! 🙂 But yeah mate i would have a gander at the wiki post about the tech and see what you think, could be closer than you thought 🙂 happy new year bud! 🙂 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mind_uploading

Hahahaha I do love the fallout worlds, i love that 2nd world war era theme, but more advanced than we actually were in the 40's and 50's it really cool lol like Mr Handy for example with his extremely British accent and the guard robots that looked like the robot from lost in space, they were way beyond the capability of that era but that just added to the charm of fallout in a very steam punky way, which i loved! 🙂 how cool would it be to visit megaton, the city with a live atom bomb at its center lol would defo not want to be a ghoul though! 🙂 anyway happy new year all lets make 2023 a good un! 🙂

Hi again StaceyPowers, i hope you had a good xmas! 🙂 "What are your other contenders?" wow so so many lol but yeah i have to agree sky city would be awesome, i would also love to visit Rapture from BioShock one, but im a bit torn on whether i would like to visit it before it all went tits up or after, as even after things went awry, it had a post apocalyptic vibe (which im a massive fan of by the way!) on top of the obvious beauty of an underwater metropolis, so yeah defo the BioShock worlds. I would also like to visit Gotham from the batman games, as ive always loved the chaotic city of Gotham. I would love to visit the worlds from both final fantasies 7 and 8, which were the two FF's that had the biggest impact on me. ive always wanted to enter a Chocobo race and visit Midgar lol! 🙂 i would love to experience the fallout worlds, so probably fallout 3 or Vegas, again my post apocalyptic fetish lol only problem with the fallout worlds are how small they are. I would also love to visit the elder scrolls worlds, mainly Skyrim, or the Dragonage world, although i would want pretty high stats to live in those worlds lol I would really like to be in Knight city from cyberpunk, where i could upgrade myself to my hearts content, Not to the level that the Maelstrom or the Animals did, but more under the hood enhancements that would improve my abilities without looking like Robocop 🙂 like i say there are so many worlds i would love to visit, for various different reasons, so if it ever became a reality i dont think i would end up doing it, as i would not be able to choose lol! 🙂 Hi again Blackangel, i hope you had a good xmas! 🙂 I hear what your saying, as we've all been through crap we would rather forget, but on the other hand mate i believe its those bad experiences that give us strength and define us, as at the end of the day mate your still here, so speaks volumes about your strength of character and makes you a much harder target for anyone else who might try take the p*!s out of you! If you were to have your memory wiped, you would in effect be starting again, which may have its pro's, but you would then have to learn the hard lessons all over again too, so i think i personally would keep all my memories, good and bad, as that is all part of me and who i am now! 🙂 but again mate its a matter of opinion, there is no wrong or right answer, only personal preference! I can understand though why some might choose to unload their unwanted baggage, if it causes more hurt than it gives strength to you! 🙂

Hi Killamch89 hope your well mate! 🙂 I completely get your point mate and dont disagree with you in the slightest, i was saying in one of the posts i quoted that i would want an expiry date, as no matter what world you are uploaded into, you would eventually have seen everything and would inevitably get bored, so i stated that i would have a max life span of 1000 years (same as an Asari lifespan from mass effect) but with a kill switch or kill word that i could use if ive had enough, basically digital suicide! 🙂 so yeah mate i get your point about immortality. Also as to the emotions issue, there are so many variables and possible difficulties when talkin about un invented tech, that we could chew the fat for hours just on that subject alone lol but for the sake of this topic we are just gonna pretend that the technology has been invented to be able to copy the complete human psyche, emotions and all, so a complete digital copy of you and your traits! Like i say mate i know its far fetched and we could list the possible problems with this tech, but just for fun lets say it exists! 🙂 its more , but-about if you would go for it and if so would you want any rules to be factored into your upload, like my 1000 year max life span for example and also what world/character you would want uploading to! But yeah mate if its not something you would be up for then that's valid too, as it would not be for everyone and would defo cause controversy! 🙂 Hey Stacey, i hope you are well! 🙂 Yes mate it is very interesting, ive sat and thought about this idea numerous times and still cant decide 100% on where i would be uploaded, but yeah Mass Effect is my strongest contender and yes mate defo be myself and all your memories would be uploaded as it would be an exact digital copy of your psyche, warts and all! 🙂

VGR Member of the Month - December 2022 Nominations
ImmersionGaming22 replied to DC's topic in General Chat
Thank you Shagger, i really appreciate your support and kind words. I also get what your saying as to me not posting enough and im hoping to be on here more frequently in the new year, main things holding me back at the moment is ill health for the past month or so, plus there not being enough hours in the day, as when im well enough im quite busy at the moment, getting my life back on track and trying to pursue my dream, so yeah mate im trying lol but will defo aspire to be on a lot more in the new year! 🙂 Anyway thank you again for your support bud and i wish you and everyone else a very happy xmas and new year and i look forward to chatting to you all about gadgets and gaming a lot more next year! Take care! 🙂 -
Hey Gonzalo, i hope you are well! 🙂 Yes mate i hear you on the endings, left a lot to be desired, but the games as a whole, so the selection of alien races and their back stories, such as the Quarian's who the human race could learn a lot from right now in all honesty, as we are also messing with AI at the moment which could possibly end the same way as it did for them lol but yeah back to the game, the soundtrack was also great, i just remember being totally immersed in those games while playing them and really struggling to pull myself away from them and back into the real world, so yeah it defo had a massive impact on me growing up did Mass Effect, plus you've got to admit the Normandy was and awesome bit of kit, i was devastated when it was destroyed. 🙂 I also get where your coming from with the outer wilds, i played it for quite some time, but i dont think i completed it, or i don't remember completing it anyway! I remember the part where you had to go into a tornado that was rotating opposite to the others to get into some other world or something, but yeah i cant remember actually completing it, if im not mistaken i think i blew my motherboard back then so lost all my data and didn't want to play it all again, but i think i might play it again now as its been some time, as i remember really enjoying it! But yes mate, games dont necessarily have to be action packed to leave a lasting impression on you, they just have to be well written and well made, but yes i get why you would mention the outer wilds and i totally agree! 🙂
-
Hi again Kane99, i hope your well! 🙂 No mate ive not watched Chappie or upload, but i will defo have a look now you have made me aware of them! As to your comment regarding the uploaded self being a copy, my thinking on that was that the operation could only be done once because the process of copying a whole human beings psyche, is that evasive that it effectively ends your human life and you then become the digital format of yourself. This is why i said i would only opt for it when i was at the end of my life, or same as people can carry donor cards, to donate their organs should the worst happen, you would be able to carry the "download my psyche" card if you were in some sort of accident etc etc, so from that point on you would no longer exists in your flesh and blood form and only in the digital form, which obviously rules out the copy scenario lol But yes mate i totally get your point of if the real you and digital you were to co exists, the digital you would be a copy, ending at the point when it was created, but it would from that point on have its own memories from whatever world it was uploaded too, so i guess from then on if you were both to still co exists you would become 2 different people, because its our life experiences that makes us who and what we are, hahaha like i said to Reality vs Adventure above mate, this was a hard topic to convey, as there are so many variables and what ifs, as then there would be the morality of it all too to contend with, but yes mate it is very interesting topic and no to far off ready player 1 in some respects, although obviously that's more around VR with all the haptics suits on and so forth. I was just interested if anyone would go for it and what world they would want to be uploaded too, as i can sit and chat for hours over the technical side of it but probs not the best idea on here loll as it would go on for pages lol I do like you idea too though regarding popping your grey matter out and plugging that into the world instead, reminds me of the baddie robot in Robocop 2, where they took the brain out of Kane, the big drug dealer guy and plonked it in a big military grade robot that dwarfed Robocop (what could possibly go wrong with that idea lol) But yes mate for you are right it would be cool and at the rate of progression we are traveling at with technology, it wont be long before a lot of the above is possible and i for one cant wait to see what they come up with next! 🙂 Hey Shortie i hope your good! 🙂 Yes i completely agree with you, the choice of what world to be uploaded into is a very hard choice to make, ive often thought about this topic over the years and i still cant decide lol And yes mate being yourself is totally an option, without a doubt, infact i think that would be my choice in all honesty, as i would want to live in and experience these worlds as me and not anyone else, but i know that some people, for whateva reason, may want the option to be a specific character, either because they just love that character or because they have low self esteem etc etc but yes mate im with you on that one, i would defo want to be myself without a doubt, maybe a small enhancement here and there lol like bigger muscles and so on hahaha but yes mate how cool would that be, actually getting to live in some of the fantastic game worlds that have been created over the years, and also how terrifying in some of them too, like doom for example lol 🙂 hahaha Hey Smokey i hope you are well! 🙂 Yes mate Yakuza would be cool and im guessing by PSO your referring to Phantasy Star Online?? I agree with the space thing bud, that why i thought Mass Effect would be cool, as i would love to visit the citadel and all the different races from across the universe! 🙂 and yes mate being yourself is totally an option, like i was saying to Shortie above i would also prefer to be myself and experience the worlds as me, but yeah defo with a few tweaks to buff ourselves up, why not if its possible hahaha! 🙂
-
Hahahaha Hi Reality vs Adventure, thanks for your detailed and and very deeply thought about response, that's exactly the kind of response i was looking for, as yes you are correct, this sort of topic is very hard to give an exact context too, as there are so many variables involved! 🙂 I blow my own mind sometimes when thinking about things like this, as you can take it in any number of directions and possible scenarios. My thinking was that as this technology is very advanced to say the least, it would have to be some time in the future, by which time processing power and the size of components needed for large scale storage of information would be much better than now, so their would be many different options available based on preference or cost, but what i imagined for the sake of this topic was a closed off world, so not one played by actual players, so no chance of someone playing your character and you being taken along for the ride at their mercy, wow how bad would that be lol! No these are more like closed off servers, for example where the world is just uploaded beforehand and then once you are uploaded into it you are left alone to live your life in your new world, that's where the future tech would come into it, as storage of all these worlds that people are living in and the processing power needed to run them would no longer be an issue, plus the tech needed to guarantee that the power needed to keep the world running would never be lost. That is also where the cost of the package you purchase could also come into it, so you could either opt to be uploaded into the game/character of your choice, on your own world, with no other real people being uploaded, so all other characters would be AI, very advanced AI though, that were indistinguishable from real human uploads, which isn't to far fetched based on current AI technology. Or for less money you could be uploaded to a shared server, where you could either purchase whatever characters are left to be uploaded too, or one of your own creating. You are also correct about your comment about immortality, again that would probably come down to cost in a real world situation, so you would purchase a package based on duration, lets say in 10 years increments lol or an indefinite executive package, with an abort function you could activate if you had enough (basically digital suicide) as im sure any world would become boring after a certain amount of time, probably a long time like if the universe was big enough like mass effect for example, but still a get out option would be needed, as i know personally i would not want to live forever, everything has to come to an end eventually. I think living for as long as an Asari (about 1000 years) would probably be enough! 🙂 But yeah mate like i say it was a difficult one this, as there are so many variables, so was hard to just standardize it for the sake of this topic lol I agree with you about the AC world being very interesting and the ability to travel to the different time periods would be awesome, the only problem being the AC worlds are very small and linear, so would not take long before you had seen and experienced everything (by not long im talking about timescales measured in decades) but yeah mate i agree about not being able to decide where you would want uploading too, as i still cant decide! I think in reality it would be better if you could be uploaded to one world until you had enough of it then be re uploaded to another world, that would be way better lol but again would open up so many other variables, such as degradation of your digital self, through repeatedly uploading to different worlds, so yeah it was a difficult one to convey this, as this the sort of subject you could discuss for hours regarding the possibilities and possible problems that may arise from it, you've got to admit it would be cool as though! 🙂 But yeah thanks again for your reply mate and for your opinion on a very intricate subject lol! 🙂 I think for the sake of this topic though, to prevent short novel sized responses like this one, we best just keep it to what game world/character and why hahaha Take care bud! 🙂

Hi again all, right ive been sat thinking again and while doing so came up with todays topic, so i have seen in the past in certain films where they have the ability to download people psyche and memories, which i suppose is a sort of backup of you in case the worse was to happen, ive seen this idea used in many different and weird ways in films, but my idea is a a bit more on the fun side! 🙂 Right so lets just say that the technology for uploading your psyche and memories into a digital format was invented and available. A company came up with the idea of being able to upload your psyche into any game world of your choice and any character you want, be it one already established in a game or one of your own making. Once this has been done it is irreversible and that world will then become your new world and life and your real body would die. In this new world you would not be able to tell it isn't real, as to you it would be, much in the same way as if we all actually live in a simulation in real life, like millions of people believe we do. So food would taste as it should, anything you touch would feel as it should and smells etc etc etc so all in all it would to you be just as real as the real world! My take on this would be to wait until im at the end of my natural life, or carry like a medical card stating that if im in an accident and there is a good chance i wont survive, that they have my permission to upload my psyche into the game of my choice, so that way i get to live my natural life, then be uploaded into my game of choice for my second life lol Now comes the hard part what game world would i choose, well ive got to say at this point im really undecided as there is so many to choose from that i would really love to be able to visit in real life, but i think one of the main contenders has got to be Mass Effect, as not only would earth still be there, at least in some form, in case i got home sick lol but there would be a whole galaxy to explore and the ability to do so, plus id love to meet all the various sentient races from the Mass Effect titles. Also though in the same way as Mass Effect there is the eve galaxy, which is way bigger than the Mass Effect galaxy, but its the Mass Effect worlds l like and the characters. I would like to say id be uploaded into Shepheard (the main hero of Mas Effect) and live as him, but i think i would much rather be uploaded as a young lad and grow up in this world as my own character forging my own path through this world, but with all the knowledge and life experience from this life! As i say though im as yet un decided 100% as the more i think about it the harder it becomes to make a decision, as like i say its irreversible remember! 🙂 So yeah that's my question to you all, what if any world would you be uploaded too and which character and why? I know it a weird one this but it really got my cogs turning! 🙂

Hi M76, thx for your reply mate 🙂 and wow System shock 2, there's a game ive not thought about in a long time lol, although ive got to say the only part i didn't agree with fully was the comment about half-life not being immersive?? Not that im saying your wrong, as like anything there is no right or wrong only opinions, but would like to know why you didn't get Immersed in half life, as its one of the all time greats!! 😞 But yeah mate Mass Effect defo one of the most influential gaming titles in my gaming portfolio without a doubt, as is Cyberpunk, which is still very prominent in my mind, as I played it very recently for the second time! 🙂 I also get your point about quantic making games that are more interactive movies than full on games, but I personally think that's what makes them so Immersive, as they are like a cross between a game and a movie, so because you are not constantly having to be on the lookout, or ready with your trigger finger, you have more time to absorb the story and the emotions emanating from the characters, whereas like I say when playing a third or first person shooter your always on edge and a lot of times dont really have as much time to take everything in. To me this subject is a prime example of different game genres being better played when in the right frame of mind, much in the same way as you would listen to different music depending on your mood, so Reggie or soul to chill, dance, techno when feeling happy and energetic etc etc lol so yeah I play all game genres, but when im in a laid back chilled mood, with a glass of ale or jack D and just want to get engrossed in a really good storyline, I play a game like Detroit become human or heavy rain, as I much prefer having control of what direction the story goes in, instead of just the linear storyline of a film, so they are good for that when you are not in the mood for a full on game session if you get my meaning! 🙂 But yeah mate defo beyond 2 souls too, as I really felt for the main character growing up in a lab and being treat like a freak by the other kids, as I grew up in the 80's and had bad eczema, so not only was I picked on a lot by the other kids, but doctors were still trying new treatments for eczema at that point, so I guess you could say I was sort of a Guinea pig lol but it also made me the strong person I am today 🙂 so yeah i totally sympathized with the main character in beyond 2 souls, also as I said to Moonface above, the last of us is a game ive been dying to play for years, but im a PC gamer and dont like emulating games as it sucks the performance right out of games and that is a big deal for me, hence why im a PC gamer lol but yeah as Moonface said they should be coming to PC soon apparently and when they do ill be first in the que lol! Hi again Moonface, yeah that's what I read too, dont know exactly when, but they will defo come at some point! 🙂 they just try and squeeze every bit of profit out of exclusives before releasing them for other platforms, which I totally get, as that the whole idea of an exclusive! 🙂 but yeah mate PS4 isn't an option bud, as high FPS and graphics is a big deal for me mate, that's why im a PC gamer lol, not that I dont game on consoles when I have to, but prefer games that I really want to get engrossed in to be played in the best possible way, so like I say with the highest FPS and graphics setting possible, so that's why ive waited for the PC release! 🙂 dont get me wrong though mate, im not in any way one of those PC master race types lol who thinks anything less than a high powered overclocked gaming rig isn't worth bothering with lol I just a have a very high appreciation for the best possible realism I can get in games, so with the higher FPS it moves smoother and more natural and obviously with better graphics it looks more real lol so yeah mate im all about max immersion, hence the name of my channel lol but yeah ill give my verdict when I have the pleasure of playing them, as ive waited so so long! 🙂 Hey Blackangel, thx for your reply! 🙂 and yes wow i forgot how Immersed i got in RDR2, well both the RDR games, as I played the first one too when it was released and got engrossed in that one too! :), but yeah mate I was devastated when Arthur died, Hosea and Lenny too, but I was equally annoyed at Micah and Dutch, who I really felt betrayed by lol I also felt a real sense of family with all the girls in our group, tbh it was just an all round well made, historically accurate game, which gave a real sense of what it must of been like to live in those wild west days! I also get your point about you Grandmother too, as I was mainly brought up by my Nanna (grandmother lol) too, as my mum was a single parent who had to work long hours to bring me and my brother up, so we were always at my nans, but im so glad we were, as she taught me so much about life in my early years, probably due to her many years of life experience and the bond I forged with my nan was bulletproof and even now that she has passed, she is forever in my heart and thoughts and I look forward to the day we meet again! 🙂 so yeah I get you there too! 🙂 Eyup Killamch89! 🙂 yes every one of those I agree with, but most of all spec ops and Deus ex, both fantastic games and came out at a point when I believe video game devs, really started turning the immersion levels up to 11 in games, as from that point on the games and their storylines just seem to really up the bar in leaps and bounds, or maybe i was just at an age where i could appreciate them better from that point on?? How about that then Shagger, 4 posts in 1 reply, now whos the chat expert hahahaha thx again bud! 🙂

Eyup Moonface, yes bud Stray was had such potential but was really let down at the end, it was like they ran out of time or funding and had to rush the ending, as the body of the game was great and i was the same i was so invested in getting to cat back to his family, but i also loved all the robots and felt so sorry for them as they had such a pointless existence once their was no more humans, and ive not played the Last of us Unfortunately, as im a PC gamer, although i have considered buying a PS just for that game alone, as that game is right up my street! 🙂 I know i could emulate it on PC but the performance sucks from what ive seen so would only spoil the experience, from what ive heard though they might be coming to PC, much in the same way as heavy rain did, actually there is another game that had a big emotional impact on me thinking about it, Heavy rain, as the main Character lost his son in the shopping mall, who then got run over outside and killed, plus the serial killer had to watch his brother die and he could do nothing to save him, as he drowned in a sewer pipe that filled up while his foot was caught on something at the bottom of the pipe, so yeah that game really got an emotional response from me bigtime!! also I played Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice in VR, wow i cant tell you how immersive that was playing it in VR, if you've not seen it its about mental health issues, specifically schizophrenia i believe, where the your character hears voices, which was recorded on a 360 soundstage, so if you have good headphones on you hear the voices like she would coming from all directions or whispering in your ears, its a really daunting experience in all honesty and put the illness into perspective for me, but yeah playing it in VR with my quest 2 pugged into my gaming PC was out of this world, as your actually in the game then its mental, ill be playing number two, which has just come out in the same way as it really was and experience visually and audibly that stays with you! if you get the chance to pay it in VR i would defo recommend it without a doubt! 🙂

Eyup Shortie thanks for your response! 🙂 I completely agree mate, but i personally believe that games are way more immersive, at least in my experience than films or TV, not that i dont get Immersed in films or telly, its just i get way more invested in games, probably due to me being in charge of the characters/story so you become, or at least I become way more emotionally invested in the story and or characters, But yes mate you are spot on with what you said! 🙂 Ive not actually played Destiny yet or Destiny 2, but they ae defo on my to play list, its just that ive been mainly playing story based action adventures of late, especially since starting my youTube channel, as that t he only games i feature, but yes for defo bud ill be playing them when i can, as ive watched the trailers for them both and its defo my kind of game! 🙂
