I hope not, lol. I mean, if people want to throw free crypto in my direction, by all means. But outside of that, nah. I prefer to deal with real money.

That's interesting. To date I have mocked AI as being nothing more than a glorified search engine. But I can see where this can be very useful. I still have the original Flappy Bird APK for Android. 😄

Do you usually play games halfway and quit?
Dismal_Bliss replied to Kennysplash's topic in Gaming Forum
This brought back a memory. On PS4 there was a game, where you entered this area and had to fight a house that came alive and at the same time a bunch of wild dogs were coming after you. The character you played was a girl. I can't remember what the name of the game was. But that boss fight was so difficult, I quit playing since I couldn't get past that point. -
The Most Played Video Games of All Time (??)
Dismal_Bliss replied to Dismal_Bliss's topic in Gaming News
Haha! Good catch. I counted them out of curiousity. There were a total of 36 games on the list. -
How important is storytelling in a video game for you?
Dismal_Bliss replied to svjiminfxv's topic in Video Games
A game can get dry after the story is over. One example I can think of it the Horizon games (Zero Dawn, Forbidden West). Once the campaign is over, there may be still be things to do like find collectibles. But even when you have accomplished all that you can accomplish then you can still run around and fight mechanical monsters. But at this point, there is no point. Exactly. It would not be motivating at all. -
A 13 year old boy is the first to ever to beat Tetris on the NES
Dismal_Bliss replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
Tell us how you really feel, lol 😆 I remember my parents telling me to go outside. But back then going out and playing with the other kids in the neighborhood was both fun and commonplace. But today it's a little less safe, and not as common. My kids didn't have any local friends who lived near us. Maybe this 13-year-old lives in the middle of nowhere. Maybe there is nothing outside. Maybe it's frigid with 2 feet of snow out there. I can overlook her comments, rather than fantasize about dismembering her, lol 😄 -
Avatar Video Game Gets Gorgeous Launch Trailer
Dismal_Bliss replied to Dismal_Bliss's topic in Gaming News
Thanks for the very positive review. I am definitely adding this one to my queue. I can be very sold on stellar graphics, and love it when it is paired with a great storyline. -
Haha! Thanks for linking to that. It's very frustrating for sure. Kinda like Flappy Bird was back in the day. 😄

Codename - Project Skyline - a new Horizon: Zero Dawn MMORPG?
Dismal_Bliss replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
I like RPG's but have never played a MMORPG before (I dabbled with Final Fantasy 14 during a free trial but that was it). I must say I LOVE the Horizon games, so this would be something I would definitely look into to. -
A 13 year old boy is the first to ever to beat Tetris on the NES
Dismal_Bliss replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
His reaction around the 39 minute mark is fantastic. I wonder what metric breaks the game? Time played? Score? Certain number of lines? Or is it just random or the memory of the NES gets all used up? -
Are there games where you skip the story completely?
Dismal_Bliss replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
Never, lol. When I play games, it's for the story line. I only skip them if I am replaying something and am already overfamiliar with the game. -
Will you be attending any 3 or 4 day music festivals this year?
Dismal_Bliss posted a topic in Music
And if so, which one? I'm in Ohio, so it's usually a toss up between Inkarceration in Mansfield and Sonic Temple in Columbus. -
What are your thoughts on AI? Does it worry you?
Dismal_Bliss replied to Shortie's topic in Technology & Gadgets
I'm not too concerned at the moment. AI is just a glorified search engine married to a language model. It's fun to mess with when you are bored. -
I've only tried a couple games just a few times, probably for no more than 15 minutes at a time. Once was the Samsung Galaxy VR and two other times was a Meta Quest 2. I want to get into VR and I believe I am going to go with the PSVR2 to go with my PS5.

Super Nintendo was the console I enjoyed the most as a kid and young adult. I did get the N64 but shortly after that I got into work, bars, and girls, and video games took a back seat. I didn't return to video games until I was married with little ones of my own and I got a Wii and that was memorable too, but not as much as my Super Nintendo years.

I've been far removed from Nintendo for several years now. I play on the wife or kids Switch once in a while but that's it. In my mind, Nintendo is all about bubbly cartoon characters and bright colors - family friendly entertainment. I can't mentally process a mature game on a Nintendo console, such as GTA5. Maybe they have been there all along and I just don't pay attention. Maybe I am showing my age, lol

How important is storytelling in a video game for you?
Dismal_Bliss replied to svjiminfxv's topic in Video Games
I play games all for the storyline, so this is very important to me. I want to be drawn into it just like I would a good movie or TV series. If it can make me feel anxiety, a sense of loss, or make me tear up, all the better! -
Are you comfortable with an 'all-digital' future?
Dismal_Bliss replied to Smokey's topic in Gaming Forum
I buy most of my games online and download them directly to my console these days, so I am a bit indifferent. While I pay for the 2nd tier of PS Plus, I would NOT want games to go completely subscription based. That would be awful. -
What's your gaming resolutions for the new year?
Dismal_Bliss replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
I'm a simple man. Right now I am looking forward to the release of FF7 Rebirth on February 29th. I also plan to get the PSVR 2 and get into virtual reality gaming. -
Elon Musk gets mocked for saying violent games are bad
Dismal_Bliss replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
I guess so. You like listening to yourself argue. Is English your native tongue? Read what I said again... Do you have no concept of time? It's as if I said "I like white wine" and you said "here, this red wine is so much better", and then later I say "I used to prefer white wine" and you respond "F YOU and your white wine, you bastard". C'mon man! lol! -
This was an interesting list... https://www.workandmoney.com/s/most-played-video-games-a135f441e8b545aa Out of all the ones listed in that article, I have played 4 of them, lol. How about you?
