I agree so much with you. Sure, the new stuff looks amazing (I truly want them just because they look so amazing), but if you need to do stuff, just get what you need already. You can wait three years and get the M5, that will probably be even better than the current M2

Would You Rather be a millionaire or live in the world of Harry Potter?
Empire replied to killamch89's topic in General Chat
Be a millionaire rich buy who then go to the harry potter filming locations in the UK and then say I did both ๐ -
Considering the current Ryzen is about 12 months old, this is super exciting. I'm glad Intel is back in the game. Hopefully this leads to lots of competition between the two, and we just keep getting more awesome stuff. Shout out to AMD for finally making good chips with Ryzen to light a fire under Intel's ass. Let's see some competition!

Lenovo always has had that one lineup of gaming laptops, that are great to balance b/w work and gaming and even for engineering students, etc. The Win8 to Win10 jump era laptops had a few driver problems, but are solid otherwise. And the build quality has only improved since then. But they are also a bit more on the $$ side. (relatively)

The technology is improving, new games and even some older games now are adding Ray Tracing support andwhile I see new games out they are aiming for those RTX cards more now then with GTX. point saying that soon you have no choice to get Ray Tracing cards to play your games that you want, GTX cards are still goof but they are old and they won't keep up the lastest games. I'm still on GTX myself but missing out playing games with DLSS on ;(

Crusader Kings 2. Your king could be a pious, kind, and just man who is very merciful to his subjects and enemies, or he could be a tyrant that beheads somebody for looking at him wrong and worship Satan.

Optimism in games is usually about moral victory
Empire replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I'm with a lot of people in finding the current trajectory of the game very questionable gameplay-wise and especially on the financial side. I'm lucky enough to have a stable job with enough disposable income on the side to be able to buy higher end cards now and then, but it's also perfectly understandable to me that some are frustrated and unwilling to spend on newer products or ridiculously priced old cards. That said, even if the game actually dies and production stops, I know I'll likely still not sell my cards anyway. The game is also so established that communities will likely never go away entirely even if they become smaller and more fragmented. -
Which digital/physical console video game did you spend the most on?

GTA The Trilogy "Definitive Edition". Em, no it isn't
Empire replied to Shagger's topic in Gaming Forum
Gonna give it to Rockstar, they confidently release a broken remastered of a couple decades old games that barely hold up 60 fps on Series X at the same week with Forza Horizon 5, which is one of the best looking games right now that can run at locked 60 fps up to 4K resolution. -
EA could just be really cocky since this is one of those years where the fanbase seems to favor Battlefield over Call of Duty. And so they don't want to miss out on the bragging rights of having beaten Call of Duty? Because it doesn't seem like people favor Call of Duty much this year. And they probably want to capitalise on that. You know considering they been releasing the same type of game for the past ten years since battlefront 3, you would think they would have a good understanding on what is required on their end to run a smooth process. I guess this also brings up the question is this Dice version of BioWare magic aka we donโt know what weโre doing but itโll turn out ok in the end?

I remember at Sony they targeted higher-paid (i.e. senior) developers for layoffs. Several years back, after releasing one of their annual titles, they had a big layoff. "Thanks for the hard work to ship this game. Now here's your pink slip." They continually got rid of experienced, senior developers and replaced them with cheaper, new developers. We joked that we were training our replacements. The next year, after shipping the following annual release, the entire team that I had been on was laid off.

Is difficulty in games ever an accessibility issue? If so, when?
Empire replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
First and foremost I am not an elitist and most of the times I'm all for more options for gamers. In this case however I'm certainly not. The whole point of these games is to challenge the players. The whole image that is surrounding these games is the 'mythical' difficulty. Take that away and these games lose some of their mystery and charm. You could even say that giving these games a lower difficulty would make the gaming world more boring because it's games like this that keeps gaming fresh and exciting. Dumb question. How many games don't allow you to change difficulty? Because this only seems to come up about fromsoft games. So having less then 7 games no difficulty setting compared with most modern games. -
Red Dead Redemption or Red Dead Redemption 2?

Can you still remember the first console game you played?
Empire replied to Head_Hunter's topic in Gaming Forum
Probably Combat! for Atari 2600. That plus a whole host of other Atari games like Superman, Pac-Man (yes, the bad one) and a few others that I can't quite remember. -
How do you cope when there is zero way to turn down depth of field?
Empire replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I would argue that DOF is used to do the same thing in games as it does in movies: to be more realistic. Games aren't just mimicking movies. The human eye focuses on objects - it isn't able to view everything clearly at the same time. Without DOF movies look fake, because the whole scene is perfectly clear. Same goes for video games - adding realism, not the "movie effect." -
Have gaming made you arrive late for an event?
Empire replied to Head_Hunter's topic in Gaming Forum
I never had that happen to me, I get out and go right after if I was or into the gaming moment. But while going to the event my minde is not in place ๐ Meaning still in gaming mode, that's the worse part more then anything. -
WSJ Report Alleges Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick Hid Knowledge of Misconduct
Empire replied to PGen98's topic in Gaming News
Not only that, this guy has been embezzling millions from the company for years and years, yet they have to lay off employees due to "budget constrants". The only thing that SEC did was fine him and news that comes out about this are always swept under the rug by Wallstreet. If you're ever feeling unhappy about your life, just remember that there are still some people defending Activision on social media and you'll feel better. Probably because they don't want to feel guilty about enjoying their precious Call of Duty. -
Mass Effect on the PC (retail package) was it for me. It wouldn't install at first, so I traded it in for another package and had the same problem. Bioware support had some weird suggestions about unRarring certain files manually. It turns out they had crammed so much data on the disk, it wouldn't read on older CD drives. So I had to buy a new one.

Red Dead Redemption or Red Dead Redemption 2?
Empire replied to The Blackangel's topic in Gaming Forum
Or wait to red dead redemption 3 as there are now leaks that says it's coming. https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/red-dead-redemption-3-rockstar-games-leak/ Someone at RS said it publicly and now it's all hyped up. no idea if it's true or not. -
GTA The Trilogy "Definitive Edition". Em, no it isn't
Empire replied to Shagger's topic in Gaming Forum
it baffles me that almost every remaster that has come out over the past few years have been complete and utter fuck-ups just goes to show how incompetent the devs are at even just doing remasters of games they've previously worked on, seriously this is like doing your homework and scoring and 89% then copying it with knowledge of knowing what you did wrong and somehow scoring a 58%.
