There are a number of games out there, where they were updated to be cross compatible with different game consoles and computers in general. Which games do you have, that you can play on one or more system? I personally have a Jurassic World theme park game, the Master Chief Collection, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, and a few other theme park simulators I can't think of the names off the top of my head, that shares play settings between the computer and X-Box.

Do you still have some of your old demo discs?
Joshua Farrell replied to Kane99's topic in Video Games
I have a dozen demo disks left for computer and xbox games still. A few of them I have finally gotten around to getting the updated remastered versions of the games. Still though, I wish some of the games that are on those discs, were still available. A few of them are now in the domain of the companies being bought out, or defunct, and no one is manufacturing copies of those games anymore. -
I generally will play straight through. By now, if I haven't played a certain type of game, I find it tedious to go through the walk through. Once I get the idea of a game, I try to avoid the walk through if possible. Though if I haven't tried a game type in awhile, I will tend to go through the walk through a couple of times, just to get the hang of the game.

Games that are harder on console (or PC)?
Joshua Farrell replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I tend to find games that you build stuff in an environment, easier to play on the computer over playing it on something like the X-Box. The only game I got adjusted to playing cross system, would be Halo Wars. Still trying to play cross system games, to get adjusted to different types of games that can be played using either sets of controls. -
Since I know the general signs of hardware wearing out, I tend to save up for hardware replacements. For my hard drive, I have a few external hard drives that I occasionally connect, to make sure they still work for future use, when my computer hard drive dies. The other hardware I replace as needed, or as I notice the computer slowing down.

I haven't tried it out often. I guess there is potential there for experience at night, but I don't see it for myself for most of what I do. While I do browse things that have mainly text, I just don't know if I can get used to the idea of a different tint, that allows for night time, dark use.

I generally use Mozilla Firefox and Edge. Recently though, I got Brave Browser, and am testing it out on a limited basis, till I get used to it's built in features. Mainly trying Brave out on a few sites that I know won't lock up my browsing experience, on the default ad blocker settings.

Do you think Game Pass Ultimate will include other media at some point?
Joshua Farrell replied to Kane99's topic in Xbox
It currently has a selection of EA games that you can get. On desktop, there are a number of games that you can get, that gives you a update to an EA membership. Got Sim City 4 and Sim City for free through that, via my Game Pass Ultimate. -
I love playing board games. I generally love playing Monopoly, The Game of Life, Settlers of Catan, Sorry! and a few other games. Though, I admit, a few of those games take awhile to get back into the game, if you haven't played it in awhile.

The last game I have played recently, due to time constraints from working, has been StarCraft Remastered. Been enjoying some competitive playing online with the game recently.

If it is a game where you can do both at the same time, I will generally try to attempt to do both, in conjunction with following the story line.

I honestly never got into the game, as I never could figure out why it was so popular. I mean, I liked the movie and all, but I thought it was childish. If I were to play it, I would need to get over the fact that the game sounds like a major time waster.

Do you set up all of your consoles in one area?
Joshua Farrell replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming Forum
I tend to keep the consoles I play consistently at the TV, so that I can get back to playing my favorite games I play all the time, whenever I feel like playing. For the consoles that I don't use all the time, I keep on a shelf near by, and move it over when I feel like I want to play something that I can't play otherwise. -
I know that they have been fixing compatibility issues over the past couple of years. Games I used to be able to use on Windows 7, are finally compatible with Windows 10. I always hated the fact that if the game was originally able to run on basic hardware and software rendering, that a basic Win 10 with updated hardware and software didn't let them run.

Xbox Games For Gold, needs to change for the better
Joshua Farrell replied to Kane99's topic in Xbox
Yeah, there are pretty old games that are listed in the mix. Wish they would update the service faster, and not after they get a higher number of people going after the ultimate game pass. I guess it might partly be regarding money, as some of those games still earn them some money through the digital purchases. -
I think they just want to differentiate from the other console makers. I find their console naming weird too. With like the xbox 360, I figured the reason for the name was that you had far better abilities than the original xbox, and could use features you could never use before without tons and tons of adapters. Then they went with the Xbox 1, which added to the confusion of the x-box numbering, because it is technically #3 on the list of consoles.

I have seen a few car simulators before. The ones I have seen are weird setups, since the goal wasn't to use it in a standard simulator experience, but for gaming. I mean, what else is a Aircraft simulator, other than basically a game that is setup to help you learn? The basic idea of the ones I have seen, is that you have the basic build of a car, with a projector for the game ahead of you, and a couple smaller screens custom built for the side view and rear view mirrors.

I just hope that the game comes out without too much delay. Covid caused the delay, and I hope that it doesn't further cause any other issues with getting the game ready for release. I guess that this is part of the reason why these companies hire out game testers for them, so they know if there are any issues in game, that they didn't expect to be there.

What percentage of your games are new vs. used?
Joshua Farrell replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Most of my games I had previously bought, were new. Most of the games I got second hand, was from my brother upgrading his own consoles, and didn't want to consider backwards compatibility. -
I have always wanted to give #4 a try, but had never bought it. I have always heard that people have been having tons of fun on this version of GTA. The only issue that I might have with getting it, is the fact that I need to update some of my hardware to run things more smoothly.

UK politicians call for action against PS5 and Xbox Series scalpers
Joshua Farrell replied to Kane99's topic in Gaming News
I know I haven't been worried about this, since I prefer to buy my consoles several months after the initial releases of them. I prefer to know which varieties of the consoles end up having issues after the initial heavy use from the people who bought them, so I know what would be a better bang for my dollar. It is good though, that they are trying to get this setup. -
Longer adventure game or short adventure game.
Joshua Farrell replied to bomb's topic in Video Games
It really depends on what I feel like playing. There are some short adventure games that I love playing, and some long adventure games that I also love playing. If I were ever to repurchase the Monkey Island series, I would be playing that from the first game, to the last released adventure. -
Do you listen to game soundtracks when you aren’t gaming?
Joshua Farrell replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
There are some games where I just love the music to. The Terran Soundtrack to StarCraft II, for example, is my favorite work listening music, while I am on the computer, or doing things around the house. -
There are a number of games that have been made over the years, that will automatically end the game if you cheat (use a glitch, type in cheats, or input a button combo on your controller). Have you played any games that have done this to you before? I have done this a few times over the years, to just see what would happen if I used them. Always liked how various games would tackle people trying to cheat in a game, if the cheat wasn't programmed into it.

How long do you think it will take us to get out of our home planet, and actually establish some permanent or temporary settlement off of our planet? I think that if all these companies that state that the goal of their companies, is to go out and plant a pod or permanent settlement on something; and actually did it; I would say it would be feasible in the next 10 years. Though some of the ones that state that their goal was to try to leave by now, has royally screwed up big time in actually getting things built and funded.
