Just wait 'til you get to Plague of Shadows. 😉

Those were fun fights. The Plague Knight boss fight is actually my favorite in the game.

Console vs PC: which do you usually prefer?
Executor Akamia replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
I play real-time strategy games pretty much exclusively on PC these days, but other than that particular genre, I don't really have a preference for one platform or the other. -
That depends on what you mean by "human nature". Biology would be if you're looking for how the human body works, I suppose. Psychology – or even better, neuroscience – would be best for if you want to see how the human brain works. Philosophy, I find, doesn't deal with human nature, per se. It's the study of knowledge itself.

Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker I thought it was a really good movie at the time. My opinion has shifted since; I still think it was overall decently made, but it honestly could have been a lot better.

Wouldn't know, myself. The only drug I do is sugar and caffeine.

I'm gonna echo Kingpotato here regarding the small details; it'll take some getting used to at first, because modern muscle memory will tell you to press A to select anything, whereas Shovel Knight typically uses the B button. That said, I love it a lot. It's not as much of a nostalgia trip for me because I didn't grow up on NES or SNES games – the art style is mostly based on the former than the latter, drawing from NES Mega Man Classic and DuckTales for inspiration most evidently – but it's a rock-solid game even without the nostalgia factor. All four campaigns are great games in their own right, though with the variations in gameplay styles I'm certain everyone will have their favorites. I know I do. With that in mind, the last game I played was Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope. I'm replaying the New Game+. I was more proficient playing as Shovel Knight than I ever was playing any of the other three characters in their campaigns, to the point that I almost 100% completed Shovel of Hope back when it was still just titled Shovel Knight. Though to be fair, I didn't try nearly as hard to master the other characters the way I tried to with Shovel Knight. Revisiting this campaign, though, I'm feeling some serious rust. 😂 I'm making progress, though.

Hard to say. If Breaking Bad is to be taken at face value, methamphetamine or heroin. 😂 I'm not sure, but they both seem pretty terrible.

Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows Decided to pick up on my New Game+ save, since I haven't beaten it yet like I did with Shovel of Hope back when it was still just Shovel Knight. I... forgot how difficult it was to control Plague Knight. 😂 Oh dear.

Done-done-done!!

I normally don't mind mini-games. In fact, a mini-game was roughly half the game for Shovel Knight: King of Cards, which I spent the last week or so trying to complete. It was fun for me, though a friend of mine hated it.

VGR Member of the Month - December 2019 Nominations
Executor Akamia replied to DC's topic in General Chat
Well, thank you, @kingpotato! I don't have any nominations right now. Everyone I would have nominated has been nominated already by others. Multiple times for some of them, it seems. 😄 -
Done!

I dabbled a bit in HTML now and then, many years ago. I ultimately didn't go anywhere with it, though, and forgot basically everything I knew due to lack of use.

So, I know there exists a PC game by this name, as well as an entire series of simulation games that are known probably more familiarly as MechWarrior. But whereas MechWarrior is a series of spinoffs, there was a tabletop game that started it all. Who plays here? Anybody? Nobody? I ask, because Catalyst Game Labs released a new edition of the game somewhere around the beginning of the year; a "Beginner Box" for starting new players with a simplified version of the game, and a main release with more fleshed-out rules. The new edition has miniatures that are supposedly of better quality than those of past editions of the game. I've been thinking of picking up the beginner box and finally taking steps toward learning the game. I grew up playing MechWarrior games, but I kind of like the idea of getting to see that world from a different perspective.

Done once again!

I used to cheat all the time as a kid. Then I eventually realized I don't actually need them, and would only turn on cheat codes for silliness. I don't see "cheat codes" as such put in games very often anymore. These days, if you want to properly cheat at a game, you need external software. I frown on that. I mean, I guess in a single-player game, do whatever you like, but the moment that crosses into the multiplayer sphere, where other players may be looking for a fair fight, I lose all respect for the person doing it.

Shovel Knight: King of Cards Closing in on the end of the game, I think. 😄
-
Haha! True. Though I think a run like that might be doomed to fail unless a player cheats to give themselves infinite weapon energy. I don't think that could even be pulled off with the OP Metal Blade from Mega Man 2; especially since some bosses, like Quick Man and the aforementioned final boss, are either completely immune to it or are healed by it.
-
I beat Mega Man 2 buster-only, insofar as that's possible, anyways; the final boss can't be beaten with the Mega Buster, as it and every Special Weapon except the Bubble Lead heals it. This is actually a somewhat established practice among Mega Man players; Mega Man X introduces armors for that series' main protagonist, Mega Man X, so some players of that series try beating it without picking up any parts, or even using the dash ability, while still going buster-only. It's actually kind of insane. 😂 I play a lot of strategy games, too, and in StarCraft II's co-op mode, sometimes I go out of my way to do some weird stuff, some of which really shouldn't work, but somehow does anyway. Stuff like going mass Colossi as any Protoss commander who has that unit in their arsenal, or making use of hyper aggressive static defense as Karax because he can warp in pylons and turrets instantly. (at least after level... 10, I think? I dunno, I've been max level with him for a while now) As a player who mains Fenix, whose hero unit is a top-bar power, on higher difficulties, I try to see how much progress I can make without having to drop Fenix on the field, instead preferring to do everything with my army alone.

I want to learn Python 3 first. I otherwise don't know any programming languages. There was one language I kinda-sorta learned, a proprietary one associated with a mission editor for MechWarrior 4, but I'm not entirely convinced it counts. Hrmmm... Hard to say. It's not a genre I'm particularly familiar with literature-wise. I guess it's time to add some dystopian novels to my reading list...
