Top 10 Hated Video Game Companies Fans Used To Love
Shagger replied to The Blackangel's topic in Gaming Forum
I have an immediate problem with number 5. When did anybody love EA? I remember then releasing broken shit, dodgy expansions and closing down studious 20 years ago. -
Sorry @Clasher, but are you deluded? Or are are you trying to sell snake oil or something, because there's something is not right. First off, people are not beginning to invest in NFT's. The whole metaverse, NFT and blockchain sector of investment is collapsing and burring to the ground. Even if this is a legitimate project, and I can promise you it's not, there couldn't be a worse time for it. By the time this gets off the ground, the world of NFT's and crypo will, at best, not be able to support this. Hell, that conman's investment market was never at any point stable enough to make something like this work, even at it's best. NFT's are a flash in the pan and they are going away. Second, the idea is announced. That's what an announcement is, you announce it exists. Why are you trying to twist the words and twist the facts to talk this up? @Kane99 is 100% correct, Polium claiming this this "console" will be ready as soon as 2024 is a serious red flag. Four people cannot developed a console that fast, it just can't be done. Even companies like Microsoft and Sony can't do that with tens-of-thousands of employees in R&D alone. With all due respect, one would have to be stupid to believe this. You're right about one thing though, 2024 does look too good be true and for a very good reason, it isn't true. Now you're just steeling lines straight out of the meeting the conmen at Polium has when they came up with this scam. "The Metaverse and the value of NFT's is collapsing with prices of NFT's only a fraction of they were only a year ago, so we have to convince these suckers that this console will still be out quick enough to take advantage of this before it collapses completely. However, we can't say the console will come out too fast as nobody except the most stupid of gamers will believe it's possible to do this is such a short time frame. So how does 2-3 years sound? We're obviously not going to actually make the console, we just need to give it some sense of authenticity" I'll tell you, if I was at that meeting, I still would have said "Nobody will buy that, 3 years is still not enough.", but it looks I was wrong. At least one person in @Clasher actually believes them, so good for them. Seriously though @Clasher, your admitted interest in crypto and NFT's is not something I would not call good for you, but I wouldn't actually worry about you if you didn't sound so exited about and be ready to twist the facts about and talk something up like this, something that is obviously not going to work. If you can just forget the Polium One's connection with NFT's and crypto and look at it as a device in development and technical exercise, you would see this same way I do. A joke at best and a scam at worst. To me the association with NFT's and crypto only makes this look like more like scam, and that's exactly why I took that out the equation and just looked at it as a project to develop a new console for the market and still came to the same conclusion. This is a scam doomed to go the way of the Intellivision Amico and Coleco Chameleon, a con console that never happen. Just like with those consoles, the promises in terms of spec's, the claims on the staffing, how it will be funded, the route map, the way the console looks, the logo, the absolute lack of information on how and what games we can expect, no confirmation of hardware, none of it makes sense together. Long before we bring crypto and NFT's into it, this is shady as hell. I don't get you. I cannot understand why you would look at this and do anything but cringe. This will fail, that's guaranteed.

I've said it elsewhere on the forum, but I would love to see some of the older Burnout games come back, especially Burnout 3. I doubt EA will do it because they want the world to believe the bullshit that Started with Burnout Paradise is what these types of games are supposed to be like.
-
For the reason's @Crazycrab already said, this is great news! It looked like a fun little number that I never got to play, so I'm happy with this.
-
Now that I think about it, there really aren't that many games out there like The Sims. The first thing that came to mind was Two Point Hospital as well as the same studio's upcoming Two Point Campus, but maybe those are kind of specific and not quite what you're looking for. Another one that's similar enough that you might be interested is and older game called Black and white. You quite literally play God and make karmic choices to affect the civilisation that you preside over. The good news about this is that both the original Black and White, the sequel and even thier expansions are available at those links on abandonware.net for free, so there's no risk to trying them out.

Xbox Live Gold: Games with Gold Update Thread
Shagger replied to Shagger's topic in Video Game Deals
I just got this in my email. From the 1st of October GWG will no longer include Xbox 360 titles. -
@kingpotato is right. That's the kind of post you make on a thread as your first reply. How could you possibly not know you had posted on this thread before? You have, in fact, replied to this thread on no less than 20 other occasions. Nobody who posts like they care would forget that. This is ridiculous, @Justin11. And don't reply to this or @kingpotato's post please, I think you've harvested quite enough posts out of this thread as it is.
-
This opening post of this thread has been updated to reflect the changes that have happened to PS+ and the new integrated streaming service. If you feel the new post is inaccurate or is missing something important, please let me know.

Why is it you struggle to get through a post on a thread that nothing to do with PlayStation without having a dig at PlayStation? It's a multiplatform title that's going to be on PS5, Xbox Series Consoles, Nintendo Switch and PC's. Seriously, what is going on with you? Couldn't agree with you more on A Plague Tale: Innocence though, that was a rare gem of a game. I loved it and can't wait to play Requiem.

Nice sidestep on the fact that you, and I am paraphrasing, told somebody to "Go learn about Africa" in very condescending, arrogant manner when the individual in question, as far as I know, actually lives there. But that's not the point the point, the point is whether you're right or wrong you need to show people more respect than that.

What Unreleased Game Are You Most Excited About?
Shagger replied to StaceyPowers's topic in Gaming Forum
Digimon in concept would translate into video games well, so I'm very ready to believe that the games have been good even though I haven't played them. This new one does seem to be built on sensible idea's with the RPG elements and the kind of combat. I wouldn't say it's a particularly good looking game and you could say they're playing perhaps a little safe (imagine if it were Nintendo making this, and I think you'll understand what I mean), but should be a good time anyway. -
I just ran the same math for myself. I joined 950 days ago (November 28, 2019) and this here will be my 2,612th post. So that's average of 2.75 posts a day. I have had a little time off from the forum here and there and my moderating duties and updating the Game Services Threads do rob me of quite a bit of time I could spend making posts, but even so that is pretty alarming. To do 30 posts a day, I would have to try to hit that number, and I mean really try. That's not my style. I post if and when I feel I have something worthwhile to say. Whether it be something informative, in debate, advisory, funny or whatever, I could easily read about 30+ posts from others and not make a single post myself, that's just how I enjoy spending my time here. I get a lot out of this place, possibly more than I give back, and cannot imagine feeling that way whilst making 30 posts a day. Everything I say would be drowned out and bleed together and probably even forget most of it. I just couldn't do that, at least not a smaller forum like this.

There so much wrong here that I am not sure where to even start. The one thing I won't do though is talk about Blockchain and NFT games because they are terrible and the only reason to play them is be the fool that thinks you're going to make money doing so, but I want to quickly point out that if this thing is only going to run those types of games then that is a huge problem right off the bat. Still, I'll leave that on the back burner and focus on the console itself. I think I'll start with the one thing Polium has said the I actually believe, that they only have four people working on this. That's a problem as that just isn't enough people to get the basic interface design elements correct, both in terms of software and hardware, to make it user friendly for a wide verity of people. PlayStation probably employed more people than that to decide the placement of the Disk Eject button on the PS4 Pro, and they still managed to make it awkward for me, so what chance have these not-even-a-handful of idiots got? Then there's that claim they'll have games running at 8K, 120fps with HDR enabled; It makes sense that they make this claim, after all the only people stupid enough to believe that are same people who would buy into this whole NFT, Blockchain game nonsense in the first place. Maybe there is a Blockchain version of Pong out there, and if there is I'll confess they might get that to run at 8K 120 fps with HDR enabled, but suffice to say for anything else I doubt it. At the very the least it's a bullshit claim to make at this point when we know nothing about the hardware of this thing, they haven't even built a prototype yet. It's likely the console won't actually run games itself. I believe it will be like Stadia and work as a streaming device for games, but if Stadia has proven anything it's that that technology is still too young and not ready yet and it's really not ready for the kind of ambitious numbers Polium are claiming. So whatever way I look at it, they are talking out their ass. Then there's Polium's attitude. Like so many who run these NFT, Blockchain scams, they come at criticism by claiming that those people don't understand. It even appears Polium has thier own fun little acronym for these doubts, "FUD" (I don't know about the rest of the world, but here is the UK, the term "Fud" is a literal insult, I means "moron" or something to that effect). Yeah nice touch, very dignified and mature. It's actually stands for "Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt", but no Polium. We don't "Fear" this. Even at it's worst this is a scam that won't hurt people with more than half a brain, so why would we fear it? We're not "Uncertain", on the contrary we know exactly what we are talking about when we call this shit out for what it is. You wish we were uncertain, then you might actually rope us in. And we are in no "Doubt" whatsoever. Much like how NFT's and the Metaverse has doing hard over this past year, this console is going to crash and burn. Even if this stupid console did come out, by that time the entire infrastructure it's meant to work with will probably have burned down completely, and that is what people actually want. This was doomed before it even get's started. The last thing I want to touch is creatively inept this thing is, exposing even further how blatantly shallow NFT's really are. The controller is a rip of off a DualShock, the console itself is tiny, looks generic and could easily be mistaken for a Wi-Fi hub or something. Even Polium's logo itself looks strangely familiar... Ok, Nintendo, this time we'd be totally OK with you suing somebody. To be fair, Polium has already announced they plan to re-design the logo, but even so the point stands. There is no creative soul to this at all and these people do not know what the hell they're doing. Even with some of the worst products or product concepts I've seen in my life, I have always found something to praise about it, I've found something about it that makes sense, something redeemable. With this though, I have been defeated. No matter how hard I try, I cannot think of anything I like about this thing. I actually feel like a bit of an idiot just for spending so much time putting this post together, the Polium One was not worthy of this from me. It is a terrible idea convinced by terrible people made exclusively for twits who deserve to be conned to buy. Polium are going to realise too late that they are in way over thier head. This is a joke at best, a scam at worst with nothing worthwhile in between. For the love of god, if you reading this gets the chance, do not support this. Do not buy it, do not take part in any kind of crowdfund if it happens, do not even engage with Polium just to criticize them. Live your life like this thing doesn't exist.

I disagree. To be clear I'm going into this post on the assumption we're talking about single player games of fiction, or at least thier single player story modes. All works of fiction are creative works. In many, if not most, of them there are obvious distinctions between those creative works along with the imaginary world they are set in and the real world we all share in our day-to-day lives in. Sometimes these distinctions are obvious, sometimes they are more subtle, it depends on the work in question. However, there is one thing that doesn't change, that we react to them (or at least when it works we do). How each Individual reacts to them will change from person to person, but the fiction can't just tell us and decide how we're supposed to feel. The writing influences and even provokes it, yes, but does not create it on it's own. That's all down to how the work taps into our own emotions and that can only established by one thing, our real world experiences. I could tell you a story about how the High Priest of Zarg acquired the Honglof from the Vindings and the impact that has on the Alliance of the Hyless and the Kark and it would mean obviously nothing to you. What's missing is context, and context is something that can't just be described, it's need relevancy. It needs to tap into how you, as a real person, feels. And those feeling can only be shaped but your own experiences in the real world. No good work of fiction will just tell that you're supposed to feel "this" about how the High Priest of Zarg acquired the Honglof from the Vindings and the impact that has on the Alliance of the Hyless and the Kark, it needs to reflect something in your reality to make feel the story than just be told it. Sometimes it's blatant, sometimes it's really subtle or something in between, but all (good) works of fiction reflect reality, that's how they have impact. That's why it really annoys me when people say to "Keep "insert real wold social/political issue" out of games/movies/TV" because those people either; Simply don't understand that's how fiction works. Don't like to see those issues reflected within "thier" fiction because don't like to be reminded of those issues in reality. Or most likely both. Just thinking of any old example, there were scores of people who hated on TLOU Part 2 because of the pro LGBTQ+ themes in the game. They always said it was "forced pollical correctness" or a "left wing agenda" or something when the truth was quite simply they didn't like those issues being reflected in thier fiction because they didn't like them being reflected in thier reality. It is literally the only reason one would have problem with it. I mean if one didn't have a problem with the LGBTQ+ people in the real world, why would it be a problem in something as arbitrary and unimportant as a video game? They may have been to stupid to realize it, but they were homophobes, simple as that. Gaming is a form of escapism and that is it's appeal, I understand that, I truly understand that, but if a game's story doesn't make you care, then it's failed. And it is not going to make you care until it taps into your real emotions and experiences that only only your life in the real world can create.

OK, that's it. I know I contributed towards this new tangent of discussion, but answering one single question is NOT an invite to derail the thread completely. And it certainly dose not ask ride this to spin out more irreverent posts. Anyone who wants to continue to discuss real life rallying, do so in an an appropriate thread or through DM's please.
-
Even if you were right, there is absolutely no need for that insulting "Go get educated" type of response. It's rude and it's unnecessary. The fact you have offered the "advice" to "watch a documentary in Africa" to someone who actually lives there, well that only make you like a fool. Yes, there are still large area's of Africa that are very poor with people who have other far less arbitrary things to worry about than video games, but it's also a continent in a development boom. May I suggest it's you that needs the education.
-
It wasn't necessary to make this thread for me, but thank you.

I know that pointed @Heatman that with Africa's gaming install base in gaming being around since the year 2000 that there should be more of an industry in Africa by, but trust 20 or so years in a lot of time at all for such an industry to take hold. Just because people have been playing games for that long in Africa, doesn't mean the opportunities and very indigenous education that's necessary to be able to work in such a complex, fast evolving and not to mention competitive industry are really there yet. The unfortunate truth is America, Japan and Europe are still years ahead. The next part is something I feel the need to apologize in advance for a it is not pleasant, so sorry to anyone that this upsets. @Reality vs Adventure, again I'm sorry to say this, but Africa having such a young population doesn't actually speak that much of it's market potential video games, there are other, bigger things. The infant mortality rate and the birth rate in Africa is very high, quite a lot higher than in North America or Europe, with an average age of death that's also a lot younger. The amount of young adults that live in Africa now is a sign of much things have changed for the better as even 20-30 years ago a lot more of those people would not have lived into there 20's, but it didn't stop people have more children then other regions 20 years ago because of the high infant mortality. Like it or not, that is why Africa has such a comparatively young population.

The first thing I'm going to do is fill gaps in your knowledge because that's just who I am. DNF Dual is fighting game available on PlayStation consoles (PS4/PS5) and on PC. It's is part of a long running series of games under the Dungeon and Fighter name. Now that's out of the way, do you mind telling what exactly the point of that post was? You didn't know of the game and you weren't willing to spend 5 minutes on google to learn for yourself anything about it. Instead you comment anyway just to have a dig at the game. Not for being a bad game or a game that doesn't suit your tastes, just for being a console game, and you didn't even get that fact right. So basically, you only made the post to have a dig at consoles. Frankly, that is dumb as hell. Now that you know it's a PC game, here it is on Steam if you're suddenly interested, but if you are now only interested in the game because it's not just for "the peasanty", then you have bigger problems. Because I somehow doubt a game's console killed your family or that there is some other reason to have a legitimate grudge, I'm gonna put this down to some "PCMR" fanboy nonsense, and know that will earn no respect here. It's immature, stupid and has only one purpose, to aggravate people, so I'm not tolerating it. You have no interest in consoles, that's fine, but let me tell you as a fellow PC player we are "masters" of nothing and nobody and we are superior to no one. Check that attitude at the door and show all your fellow gamers on VGR the same respect you feel you should receive in kind. That's my words to you as a mod. On a more personal level, grow up! Fanboyisum really isn't that funny at it's best as a teenager, and it really isn't funny as an adult, it's just puerile.

The WRC videos actually have it right. In rally, fans can get very close with little to nothing in terms of barriers and other such things for protection. In rally, they don't race on racetracks, it is time trials on dirt tracts, country roads and off-road terrain, so there are no grandstands. Fan will usually find a spot at the side of the route the competitors drive and just sit/stand there. The clip below should show you what I'm on about.

Given that I live in the UK and was born on the 3rd of July the best I can hope for on the 4rth is a hangover
-
I just wanted to point out the innocent don't flee the crime...
-
Around where I live it's not uncommon. For example, the bus station in my local town charges people to use the toilet.
-
Public toilets. There is never a good enough excuse to charge anyone to answer nature's call.
