  1. That's quite enough about real world F1. This thread is supposed to be about the video games. If you want to talk about real life motorsports, do so in the Sports Sub-Forum under General Chat, I did find a motorsport's thread eventually. Every time I have to put thread back on track it's always on account of the same people. Tell me @Boblee, @Justin11 and @Heatman, why is it always you guys along with one or two others?
  2. I can't say I fully understand the problem, but I did find this video and I can't any reason why this wouldn't work with either version of the game.
  3. I can tell you exactly why EA have never (and almost certainly will never) port/remaster Burnout Legends or any Burnout game other than Paradise for modern hardware, it's because they want the arcade racer as it was to stay dead. They want to push Burnout Paradise and it's concepts as if this is how how it's meant to be. They don't want a game focuses on local multiplayer rather than online. They don't want play to progresses at the kind of pace older Burnout did and would much rather force people to pay or grind. In short, they don't want to remind the wold how these games used to play because it doesn't suit thier insidious business models.
  4. Couldn't agree with you less. They are an unsustainable, unstable and unsecure investment that's already collapsing. It's essentially a pyramid scheme where people make money by roping people underneath them. Those so=called "game" you describe are how these people rope you in to themselves and should be avoided.
  5. I know this is going to sound unbelievably arrogant on my part and I apologise in advance, but Burnout Paradise is a piece of shit, and people who say otherwise don't know any better, they just don't. They've been poisoned by the concepts that game made popular, like the abandonment of local multiplayer, live service platforms and open world racing (Other games have that better since then, but it was still a stupid idea to begin with). Both Burnout and the arcade racer are dead thanks to that game, and I will never forgive EA for it.
  6. In answer to the actual topic, Some Game's journalists ae journalists first and gamers second, but I don't really feel that's that's the most most of the time, especially these days There is of course gamergate and controversy's like the Kyne and Lynch 2 and Driver 3 situations that shed light into flawed structure of games journalism by being too dependant on the cooperate game's industry itself for survival, but especially since gamergate I fel things have change a little. I see outlets, like IGN for example, being a lot less reserved and more prepared to bad behaviour from the industry in recent years. As for a journalists gaming skill, I really don't think they need to be MGL to have a worthwhile opinion on a game. On the contrary, I actually believe it's better for journalists and reviewers especially to be closer to the ground as they an offer an option that is on the level of the typical gamer. They have to know what they are talking about, yes, but that doesn't mean mastering a game. There are exceptions, of course, where it is reasonable to have the journalist be on another lever like if they report on E-Sports or if they are putting out tech advice (Looking at YOU The Verge after that embarrassing PC Build Guide video). But overall I do feel that journalists being around the level of regular gamers is a good thing and I do not believe that most games journalists are worse than us. I've written a few reviews in my time (that can call be found on the forum), and I'm I'd never claim to be that good at game, but that doesn't mean I cant put together a respectable opinion.
  7. First off, @Ducksfan, welcome to VGR, but if you don't mind, we're going to share a cab and take a trip down real street. Nobody just comes onto a forum then immediately posts a fairly brazen topic and links to an article "they just found" from blogsite with such a suspiciously similar name to the screen name they have chosen. So the thought occurs that you have some sort of association with that website. A further thought occurs that it may in fact be your website. The rules on promotional posts on VGR are very clearly spelled out in our Forum Rules and Guidelines: Because of this, I am removing the link to the website in question from your post, but I will keep the thread open and take no further action under the assumption that understand this and that you won't try to re-up that link. I'm also going to move the topic to General Gaming as this isn't really a "news" topic. With or without that link this qualifies as an opinion piece rather than current affairs or news.

    Welcome to VGR.
  9. Three games recently. Tales of Arise: On that second playthrough. Chorvs: A very promising open wold space combat game with RPG elements that was recently added to Gamepass. Rise of The Triad: A bit of nostalgia. An FPS from 1995 I played back in the day. Just picked up on sale from GOG for 49p. It looks like a Wolfenstein clone, but below the surface this is weird game.
  10. It is one of the great contradictions in media. Video games and superheroes almost sound like they were created for each other, yet when they get in bed together it's less like a blissfully, happy couple and more like Tom and Gerry. It doesn't make sense, why is it that so many of these games fail? It can't be just greedy publishers, there has got to be more. Maybe it's because the concept makes too much sense, to the point that developers think it sells itself and underestimate the work and creativity it actually takes to get it right? I don't know, but it is fascinating.
  11. Despite how popular the clips of Joel and Ellie singing Future Days has become, I actually find that surprisingly few people have listened to the actual song. Just in case you haven't, her you go.
  12. If you're answering to a specific point someone made, then it only make sense to quote them. That's what the feature is for.
  13. Honestly, the only purpose this game serves is to finally give PC players a proper port. One the best games ever made, but I personally find it hard to get invested in this.
  14. Another big hitter from EGS is free now. Maneater, an RPG where you play as a killer shark. I doubt you need further convincing.
  15. After 78 seasons? Probably his bodily functions, and just barely.
  16. I think the only time I bought microtransactions was when I headed a Neverwinter clan for another gaming community. I was putting together a prize package. I hate microtransactions and avoid them at all costs. As for DLC, I'm more willing to accept. I don't mind supporting a good game post release by buying expansions. When it was a good game to begin with, expansions are usually worth the money and I'm happy to buy them. Yes, it's only a matter of time before a new version of a game comes out with all that stuff included. That happened with Horizon Zero Dawn when I bought The Frozen Wilds DLC and the The Complete Edition came out I think two months later, but it was an amazing game and it was an amazing DLC, so I didn't regret it.
  17. I've decided to merge this with this another thread you created because the subject matter is very similar and it has only been a month since this the first thread was created.
  18. The reasons why the 3DO and CD-i were so expensive, aside from the fact they were made with what was emerging technology at the time, is because the manufacturing of the systems was outsourced and the only way those manufactures could make money on them was through the hardware sale itself. It's not a typical games console that can be sold for barley a profit or even a loss and still make that company money because that system served as a revenue stream to the company who made it. So I would say the 3DO and CD-i were actually more like what gaming PC's are today rather games consoles because manufactures of PC's and PC components don't see a cut of game sales, just like the 3DO and CD-i. That's why PC's are so expensive and why you simply can't build a PC that matches the performance of, let's say, a PS5 for the same price, not even close. EDIT: Sorry to go a little odd-topic here, just thought it would be an interesting thing to mention.
  19. I don't think you're paying much attention to what I'm saying here as you pretty much said the same things. I didn't say game are more expensive. What I did say is that, especially considering inflation, games have at the most barely got any more to expensive to buy. I did say that that What I was saying that whilst the price hasn't really changed all things considered, it's we get these days for the money that makes games more expensive. What was once a full package for $60 is now cut up and sold back to us as DLC, deluxe editions and microtransactions. The get the full package like we used to, we're paying a lot more than just that $60 or equivalent now. The real difference between then and now isn't cost, it's value. The price of games hasn't really changed, but they're worth less is that $60 does not buy a complete package anymore. It's just like how you said about people who think they're spending thier money wisely on Fornight skins and I agree with you, they really aren't spending thier money wisely at all. People who actually spend money on that crap either have more money than sense or they have succumb to the dirty tactics and phycological manipulation these game employ. Either way, they nothing to be proud of, but like you said, it's not our place to judge and people can do what the want with thier money. On a more official note, there has only been a handful of threads active specifically about Fortnite on VGR in recent weeks and the have clear distinctions between them in terms of the theme of conversation. Fortnite is a popular game and it's inevitable that there will be a lot of people discussing in bo on threads about Fortnight specifically and on other thread where it's appropriate to mention the game. If you think there is an issue with similar threads being active at the same time, report them and well take it from there. Without you making it clear specially what the offending threads are, there isn't much I can do.
  20. This is a bold move. I'd be lying if I said I was optimistic about this though because it does feel like they're stepping quite a long way from the game itself. Maybe they feel this time in the Horizon cannon is more worth exploring, but I can't help but feel that they want to set the TV show here because it would be easier and/or less expensive to film.
  21. That's enough about Elden Ring on mobile. @Lens started an entirely separate topic on that already, so bring any discussion on Elden Ring on mobile to that thread please.
  22. I know I'm a little late on this response, but it needs said anyway. The fact EA has lost the licence to use the FIFA name in future game is irrelevant, it still doesn't change the fact that discussion on FIFA 22 has no place in a thread like this because it's such a recent game. You didn't try to justify that to me when I first called out on this, you actually apologised for it back then, so don't try and justify now because of that change in the circumstance regarding the game's licence that happened long after you made the post. It doesn't make your inclusion of FIFA 22 in this thread back then any more appropriate, and it still wouldn't be appropriate now.
  23. Having checked the Steam Listing for Halo 3 and seen the PC specification requirements; My conclusion is that @Terry94's laptop is probably using integrated graphics, in other words it doesn't even have a GPU. The GeForce GTS 450 was launched 12 years ago and it's a 1GB card, and the CPU's listed are dinosaurs as well.
  24. Assuming what you were actually trying to say was "if you are thinking I'm talking out my ass", my response is: Whoa! I Calm down! I never said, or even hinted you we're lying about that. Where the he hell did that come from? For one reason or another, I didn't get that you talking about a new, factory sealed copy. Sorry I didn't pick up on that, but it doesn't really change my point. When stores overstock on physical copies of games, they well put the on sale sometimes just weeks later at discounted price when they don't sell to make room for new stock, that was also a common thing back in the day like it is now.
