  1. @Justin11 and @kingpotato First off, chill. I don't play and have never played Fortnite, but all the research I have gathered has guided me to believe that Fortnite is NOT pay-to-win. There are skins just due to the colour palate bend into certain environments and backgrounds better than others, a few examples in this video here; There is also some belief among players that some skins have an effect on the players hitbox and thus can possibly pose an advantage depending on the skin. However, there is is no way to boost stats, buy better weapons, upgrade equipment, buy better spawns or buy into a match after it has started or anything that deliberately and fundamentally affects gameplay that can be bought. As far as I can tell, it's all cosmetic stuff such as skins for gliders, vehicles, weapons and the player's avatar itself as well as expressive cosmetics such as emotes. Every player on Fortnite has the same stats regardless of the amount of hours they have played. Just because a game has encouraged a large amount of spending on in-game purchases, does not make it pay-to-win. Pay-to-win is when you can spend money to gain a tactical and/or practical advantage over a player with a similar level of experience who doesn't pay. Fortnite does not do that. A more experienced and better practiced player will naturally have an advantage over a rookie like anything else, but you can't pay for any form of gameplay advantage. I started typing this out before you actually made these two replies and what I was going to ask you to do @Justin11 is explain why you consider Fortnite a pay-to-win experience. Having seen these two replies, I'm honestly sill a little unsure as to why you believe this to be the case. So, other than the debateable skins that might serve as camouflage or may affect hit boxes, is there anything else that you believe can be bought that offers an advantage? Is so, what item or items offer an advantage and in what way do they offer an advantage?
  2. The first volume of season 4 is up now. Looks like I have my evening all planned out! 😁
  3. This reply is directly at @Justin11, but I want anyone who sees this to read it and read it carefully. Here's the thing @Justin11. You don't bother to take the time to adequately read a post then without thinking it through you make a reply. The reply is clearly made with inadequate understanding of the post you are replying to and/or a lack of understanding of the facts and the subject matter of the thread itself. Then you say "my bad" and apologise. Then comes the part that genuinely pisses me off, you never learn form this when it happens and sooner or later you do exact same thing again. Why does this keep happening? Why is it despite making this mistake time after time, you keep doing it? Well, I'll tell you why, it's because you don't care. You don't care to put in the effort it takes to avoid making this mistake again, because reading and replying to posts with consistent accuracy on a forum does take effort. It takes reading a post carefully and making sure you understand it (Especially important if English isn't your first language.) then taking just as much care to crafting a reply that is worth making. But for you, getting this wrong is inevitable no matter how many times you "apologize" for it And cherry on top of this shit cake is that in this thread, you are STILL getting it wrong! There's not one point in this entire thread @The Blackangel even mentioned the SNES or The Switch. Look again at her first post; She even said in that post that that was only a potion of her NES games, another thing that needed repeated for your sake because you clearly didn't read it properly. We know you're not doing this maliciously, but there has to come a point where you're not doing it by accident either. People who post on this forum, moderator or not, at the very least deserve to have people who read thier posts actually read them and understand them, especially if the one reading the post intends to reply. I really should not have to explain this to anyone because it's basic forum etiquette as well as common sense. It is so frustrating dealing with someone not understanding and replying to your clearly written, easy to understand posts because they can't be bothered to take the time to read them properly. I'd even call it infuriating. It would actually be better to ignore other people's posts completely than keep doing this. Now, I really don't know where to go with you and the others who consistently do this sort of thing. Another thing I feel like I've said a million times, we understand that English is not the first language for a lot of our members, and if people do struggle with English we are here to help anyone needs help, but it's also true that it's each members responsibility to take the time they need to both read and write posts accurately. However, I tend to find that in most of these instances people tend to leave little time between posts, suggesting they are doing this in a rush. If you keep doing this, we will have to take more affirmative action. We don't want your apologies @Justin11, we want to to learn from these instances.
  4. One might have to "VPN" it, because I can't find it on my Netflix.
  5. That's a popular point of view on VGR and for good reasons. I love Burnout (apart from the travesty that was Burnout Paradise) and Burnou3 especially being right up there. There's a topic on the franchise to be found here if you're interested.
  6. Epic have really been treating us. First Borderlands 3 now the Bioshock Collection.
  7. I have used a Hotmail account as my primary e-mail for at least 17 years and never felt the need to change it. I do usually use g-mail (at least the app) along with Outlook on my phone because it's sometimes necessary to have another e-mail client to access you email if you have opened a link up in n email into that e-mail client's bowser. Because I have both apps to access the same Hotmail account, there is some comparisons to be made and I'd say Outlook is cleaner to look at and it always refreshes and shows the latest's messages first, without fail. It can take g-mail as long as two full minutes to catch up. So, I'd have to say Hotmail/Outlook in better. The junk filter is usually pretty solid as well.
  8. Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning I did a review of thus dumpster fire on VGR, so I urge people to check that out first and read the whole thread to get the full story. Suffice to say, it was tragic. The original game that run perfectly fine with issue I can recall and "remastered" into something at time barely worked. The didn't really look any better either, it just had better compatibility with higher resolution displays (the original has texture scaling issues that make the game very hard to play at anything higher than 1080p). The only real reason to even buy this version was the new Fatesworn DLC that was delayed and took well over a year to come out, and that was also busted. It was also after patches I was finally able to finish it. It was so bad it actually makes me feel ambivalent about the prospect of a sequel form this same studio and publisher. Yes, I'd love a follow up to Kingdoms of Amalur, but the thought of these incompetent pricks making it is a bad omen.
  9. You don't need to say "Fortnite Battle Royal game", just Fortnite will do, we'll know what you're talking about.
  10. @The Blackangel is right. Just because @killamch89 casually mentioned a Switch as part of the point he was making on not needing an Xbox when he already has a PC, it is not an invite to start talking about the Switch on this thread that clearly nothing to do with the Switch. It take only a moment to gauge what the thread is about overall and think about what it is you are about to post and decide if it's applicable, but no, you just latch onto to the comment then blindly burst out a reply without thinking it through. Then somebody else will reply to your irrelevant comment, then another and before you know it the thread is complexly derailed and is now only a place for you and your friends to spin around your irrelevant chatter on. You really have got to stop that. We're not saying you're doing this maliciously, but you are doing it and it's because you just reply without thinking.
  11. Skyrim is available on PS4, but it will not look like this, First of, it's a 10 year old game. It was enhanced for the PS4 as part of the Definitive Edition with enhanced visuals, but not like what you saw on my screenshots. The screenshots you see there are from a heavily modified version of the game on PC. The PS4 version can be modified, but the options for mods are extremely limited because that version of the game can't be run with a Script Extender. On those screenshots the textures on the trees and foliage, the ground, the sky, the buildings and even the lighting have all been modified so they look different and it's likely you will not be able to duplicate the same results I got on console. I felt it was important to tell you because I would hate for you to buy the game on PS4 expecting it to look like that.
  12. Welcome to VGR. We're happy to have you.
  13. Welcome to VGR. Anything you want to know, please ask.
  14. What it all come down to is how popular you and your Twitch channel is. To make the absurd amount of money PewDiePie or Ninja does, you have to be at a level of populatiy that's pretty much A-list celebrity territory. When Twitch streamers get to a certain point in popularity, the amount of traffic the bring to the twitch website can be immense, generating a ton of revenue for both themselves and Twitch through adds. Popularity also brings in more subscribers, donators and sometimes sponsors as well. It's a classic "the rich get richer" scenario. However, forget about making millions, just earning enough through streaming to earn a living is incredibly rare and very few people even get that far. To get to that point requires working hard at it and being decimated and committed, something that's difficult to do before your earning enough money to actually stream full time without another job, so it's not easy. Not to mention this does require a certain amount of luck as well. People can work twice as hard on thier Twitch channel as Ninja or PewDiePie and earn nothing. It's not fair, but it's what it is. Ninja was a little bit different because he's a successful pro-gamer, so he was able to jump right into it and be as popular as he is almost right away, but PewDiePie has been doing YouTube and Twitch for a long time and built this up from nothing. So I don't actually grudge him his success, but I still reserve the right to be homicidally jealous.
  15. No. It would suck the fun out of it. Based on what I've researched, being a a video game tester is some seriously tedious stuff. You control a character, make the character turn around, face every direction, preform every solo action like bring out a weapon, attack, use items etc for every one of those directions, have the character duck, do all the that again, have the character move one pixel, rinse and repeat for that entire room. Imagining what it would be like trying to actually play the game after doing that, even if it were a great for me, it just wouldn't be the same. It would be like PTSD.
  16. This first thing I have been able to find out is the the Fortnite Dreamhack Tournament appears to have expired, so I'm afraid that's out. The second thing is I'd advise caution. Legitimate tournaments do often expect players to pay to be a part of the professional associations to pay for tournaments making it very easy to be scammed. I'd never discourage anyone from perusing esports if they're serious about it, but with all due respect the way you have worded you post tells me that you haven't given this much thought. Sometime game companies might host open competitions like Dreamhack, but most of them are made for professionals with capital to invest into thier career either from themselves or from investors and sponsors, and it takes being the absolute best players with a proven record to get there. By all means , keep an eye out for tournaments like Dreamhack in the future and even share them with VGR when you learn about them, but be carful out there.
  17. The way you worded what you've been saying suggests you nominate out of habit rather than actually thinking about it and nomination somebody who actually deserves it, and that is not a good thing. It's not that person you nominate out of habit happens to be @skyfire who surely can't be considered this month, is that you do it or have done it at all. I'm sure that isn't or at least hope that isn't the case, but that was a worrying statement you made, and actually a pretty pointless one as you didn't actually nominate anyone. Why didn't you just save commenting on this until you had actually made your mind up? That's what I'm trying to make clear to you about your posts, you never think it through. I haven't nominated anyone yet and reason I haven't is because by the time I had made my mind up, that individual had already been nominated by somebody else. If it wasn't for that pointless, yet concerning statement of yours, I probably wouldn't have commented on this thread at all because I would have nothing to add.
  18. No need to be rude. I explained all of this already in an earlier post.
  19. Why? He hasn't even been of the forum in weeks, and the last posts he did make were abusive and had to be deleted. Quite frankly, there is nobody who deserves a nomination less. So yes, please do actually think about it.

    Road 96

Seriously, did you even watch the trailer? Or even read @Yaramaki's opening posts? Or read anything at all in the thread? This is ridiculous, mate.
  21. I think in a single stretch the longest I had was probably about 12-14 hours. It was on Uncharted 4. I sat down to play the game one morning then the next thing I knew it was time for bed. The really weird thing is, I wasn't actually that crazy about the game. I even reviewed it. It was good, but not that good I felt. Still, it must have go my hooks into me given the I dedicated almost the entirety of two days of waking hours to beat it.
  22. We have rules on VGR that forbid people posting purely for the sake of promotional purposes on VGR without permission. We left this thread be @rootstereo because; You genuinely engaged with people on the forum. This thread has been in existence since before the current policy on promotional posts came into place, so it wouldn't have been fair to penalise you over that. However, it appears we have a bit of a problem. Yes, you did engage with people on this forum, but you have only posted on this one thread about your game, so this is not a genuine attempt to contribute to the community, you are just using the forum to peddle this game and nothing more. Like I said, it's not your fault that this is technically in violation of our policy as the thread is older than that policy, but it's also true that until today you had not posted on VGR for over a year. You think you can just come back after such a long time just to bump this thread and that's it? Sorry, but no. That's why I'm locking this thread. This no longer constitutes as a genuine contribution to this community. Don't take this the wrong way, I think I speak for the VGR community when I wish you the very best of luck with the game.
  23. You expect me to believe you post with care and due diligence when you don't even read the title of the article you quote? It's literally in the URL, you don't even need to click on it to see that. And by the way, why wouldn't you hyperlink that? it would look a lot better. And @Justin11, @Heatman obviously messed up there and the article wasn't about what he thought it was, but if the article was about what he thought it was about, don't you think that reading it would have answerd your question? When somebody posts an article and you want to know more about the subject at hand, it's both common courtesy and common sense to read said article. If that article was about a Twisted Metal, don't you think it would mention what version of the game it would be? That was sheer laziness. Frankly, shame on you both. Unbelievable...
  24. Like I said, Hideo Kojima had wanted to replace David Hayter with a more high profile actor for years. David even had to audition to play Snake in MGS 3 and 4. Hideo claimed he wanted Kiefer to play Snake because he believed the older actor would attune to the motion capture better for the older version of Snake in MGS 5, which I call supreme bullshit on. He also claimed he wanted this version of snake to be a reimagining of the character, and given how story goes in MGS5, and I'll admit that dose make sense, but I still don't understand why he needed a different actor to do that. Hideo also said he wanted "real" actor instead of a mere "voice" actor, which I think is really disrespectful on his part. I found a really good article/opinion piece on the subject from Levelskip if you want to check this out more detail. Personally, I believe Hideo wanted a more more high profile actor for promotional reasons, but that's speculation on my part. Whether Hideo's reasons make sense and if thier justifiable is for each individual to decide for themselves, but I personally believe David Haytor was done rotten in this situation and it wasn't fair.
  25. First, I want to point out the show is called 24, not 24 Hours. And I don't really understand why everyone is so quick to praise Kiefer Sutherland's performance in MGSV. Don't get me wrong, I love Kiefer Sutherland and 24 is one of my favourite shows, but I was not a fan of his portrayal of Snake. I don't if there was re-writes or if Kiefer Sutherland was only available for a limited period of time or something, but his version of Snake barley says a word in that game. Entire cut scenes go by without him saying anything. There was also something really sedate about snake in that game, Kiefer just didn't bring the fire that I know he can. Sorry, but David Hayter did this so much better. Another thing worth pointing it was actually Hideo Kojima's idea to replace David with a more famous actor, NOT Konami, so as much as Konami deserve every shred of hate that the get, this actually wasn't thier fault.
