I think that the battery issue when playing games on a laptop is redundant because, at least in the case with mine, the performance takes in a big way when the laptop is unplugged. I other words, I would likely never use this to play games unless it's plugged in.

Morality and how it relates to abortion
Shagger replied to Techno's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
No you don't. If you believe that victims of rape, incest and woman who have suffered an Ectopic Pregnancy or other complications shouldn't have the right to have an abortion, you do not not respect life at all. The the anti-abortion crowds favourite lie. And by the way, an ambilocal cord getting tangled round a baby's neck is not fatal because that's exactly what happen when my son was born. It's a minor complication and happens quite a lot. It just shows that you don't actually know much about this. -
This just adds to the mystery of why @Jayson created this thread in the first place. Couldn't this conversation have just continued on the other thread? What is the point of this?
-
It is pretty terrible, but it's not a deal breaker for me. Nobody buys a console as a device to browse the web on anyway, but if the bother to include a web browser, it's worth putting a little more effort into it that what they have.

There's a difference between questions that can't be answered and questions you don't want to answer. Like I said, we're not stupid, and it's obvious what is going on here.
-
I agree. I don't really understand what it is you're trying to say here...
-
It was you that created these threads in the first place! And you started multiple threads because you didn't want to deal with the challenges to your point of view that were being brought up. You felt that by starting a new thread you could avoid the questions you didn't want to answer. We are not that stupid and cannot use that as an excuse and expect to get away with it. This is just another pathetic excuse to duck and dodge the challenges to your point of view. Grow up and start behaving like an adult.

That's very hypocritical coming from you. Over the past three months or so you preach constantly about what you think people can and cannot do with thier own bodies. Even worse, it's on a gaming forum, when you hardly ever post about gaming at all. You seem to be all about pushing your own social/political views and ignore any challenge to them. Unless they agree with you 100%, people are beneath you and not worthy of your attention. That's why that statement is hypocritical. You want people to let you believe what you want and respect your point of view, but you're not willing to offer the same respect in kind. That's why so many of our members are annoyed with you. It's not your opinions that piss people off, it's the lack of respect you show to people that challenge those views.

If only more men took the quest toward enlightenment that seriously, rather than being satisfied with thier own, selfish need.

Somebody did indeed look at that logo and say "Yep, that's fine. Nothing wrong with that." I really makes one wonder...

I'm afraid it isn't. I have seen the brand on shop shelves around here as well.

I'd like to nominate @Reality vs Adventure. He's been active and puts a lot of work into what he posts.

Name A Country Without The Letter "A" In It
Shagger replied to The Blackangel's topic in Forum Games & Fun
Given that every country that has "...stan" or "...land" in it is out, this is actually quite hard. This is the best I can do since so many of the countries I though of have already been mentioned. Egypt United Kingdom Lichtenstein Turkey Tibet (I don't mean to get political, but I admit that there is a chance that doesn't technically count) -
Which video game can you brag about, no one outshines you?
Shagger replied to Head_Hunter's topic in Gaming Forum
I just want to point out that you can add multiple quotes to a single response instead of three separate replies on the same thread. Just click on the "+" icon next the "quote" I have pointed out below to add a quote. Do this for each quote you want to add; Once your happy with the selected quotes, use the icon that should appear in the lower-right corner to add them to a post: -
I love Life is Strange. I didn't like LiS 2 or Before the Storm as much as the original, but did pick up True Colors a couple of days agon on sale and I really like it co far. It's easily the best looking LiS yet with a wonderful colour palate but that's not what's important in these games. They are interactive narratives, so it's all about the story and the characters. The voice acting is certainly top bar and the characters themselves are complex, but believable. I've only played the first couple of episodes so far, and I'm not gonna lie the story has felt a bit predicable, but it's still early days and I think it will bet better.

Did we already have a thread like this this? I dunno, but I'll go with it anyway. This is a difficult thing to discuss on a forum without going into spoilers, so I'll as everyone to try and avoid that as much as possible, but everyone should consider themselves forewarned. The Last of Us Part 1 and 2 between them could probably fill a top 5 of saddest game moments on thier own. Those moments with Sarah, Tess, Riley Frank and Bill, Henry and Sam, Yara and Lev, it goes on. Hopes are built up and dashed a lot in these games at just the moments where it can have the most impact and that's what make these moments in TLOU so powerful. Life is Strange. This is another series that can play those heartstrings like they were on a harp. Because the games are based on chooses, it even has something over games like TLOU because it's very likely you are, at least in part, responsible, so it hit's home that little bit more. The end of the first Walking Dead Game by Telltale. Again to avoid spoilers I wont spell it out, but even knowing that this coming moment was inevitable for a decent chunk of the game didn't make it any easier to watch. I found this moment was done really well, though. The pacing and atmosphere really was spot on.

This is something I've very on the fence about. I'm all in on trans' rights within the world of day to day life, but I do understand why it is such a difficult and divisive topic when it comes to athletic sports. People who are born male develop differently than those who are born female, I don't think that's open to debate. Because of that, It is possible that one may have an advantage over the other depending on the nature of the contest, but the focus should not be on weather or not trans-athletes competing is fair, but how to make it fair whilst still respecting a persons gender identity. It's not like that can't happen, it actually does happen with testing of hormone levels and an athletes body chemistry. There is this assumption that a sports governing body don't check this sort of thing, when they do. So if they find a trans' athlete has the kind of hormone levels and body chemistry that's within tolerance, I really don't see an issue. I do believe in strict protocol over this though. If this was, let's say, "too liberal" I guarantee people would try to exploit it. I would also stand by a decision to not permit trans-athletes to compete in combat sports because allowing that could potentially be very dangerous, and safety has to be priority one every time.

I just want to point out you don't have to add the word "console" whenever you say PS4, Xbox One or whatever. We're not going to misread it and mistakenly think you're talking about a sandwich or something.

Percentage of Abortions by Ethnic Group
Shagger replied to Jayson's topic in Debate, Politics, & Religion
@Jayson I'm actually going to sustain the objections made here by @Crazycrab and @Reality vs Adventure. There is no reason for this thread to exist given other threads, mostly started by you, that are already here. Furthermore, and this feel like a repeat, either debate the issue or don't, the choice is yours, but do not just start another thread as your way of ignoring the other points people have made on the subject. We are not stupid and we are not going to fall for it. In other words @Jayson, behave yourself. Consider this your last warning. Either debate this with respect to other people and stop ignoring them, or stop debating completely. -

Good for you! -
You don't understand anything, because you're had blinkers on to every counter argument anyone has on your points. Show the people your debating this with some respect. By that I mean don't just quote the one sentence out of a post consisting of several paragraphs because that's the only sentence you have an answer for. I don't think that's fair on @Crazycrab and also @Reality vs Adventure who obviously have spent a considerable amount of time putting thier well thought out and crafted responses together. Debate or don't debate, that's your choice, but if you choose to engage consider it an instruction from a me as a mod to show the other more respect than that. What your doing is rude, immature, aggravating and doesn't help the debate move forward as the same points just get left hanging. I mean it. Show the other members some respect by addressing the points they make in thier entirety, or don't respond at all.

I've merged the thread you started with this already existing one as I don't really feel there's a need to have both given how similar the topics are.

Looking through this thread, and I see a number of arguments in favour of PC's stating the cost of consoles and having a PC as a gaming device and utility all in one, and to me that makes no sense. First, the traditional desktop PC as a utility has no right to exist anymore. Tablets, laptops and even phones are capable these days in terms of web browsing, word processing and all that one would typically need out of such devices. Even offices don't use them anymore, it's all servers with monitors and peripherals attached at workstations. You don't need a PC to do any of this stuff. A laptop that is, at the most, a third of the price of even a cheap gaming laptop is all anyone needs a utility. It doesn't make sense for anyone buy a PC to do anything other than game on it these days, and why not? With the right parts, a PC is a fantastic gaming platform, but not without it's flaws. Brining me on to part two of this little rant, the cost. As explained, the desktop PC as a utility is worthless these days, that adds no value to the platform at all, so your spending what is significantly more money to have a great gaming experience, and that's it. I will testify to anyone that PC's do indeed offer a better experience than a console, but is really 4-5 times better for 4-5 times the money? Honestly, I'd say no. You can buy a console to play games on and a cheap laptop as a utility and still have spent less than half the money to buy or build a gaming PC with similar performance. There's a big difference between cost and value, a difference I see a lot of PC fanboys in particular don't seem to grasp. Value is self defined, just because you consider something worth the expense, that's not true of everyone. People can debate the value of something all they want, but it's futile in the end and nobody can technically be wrong as everyone defines thier own view on what is valuable and what is not. Cost is different. Cost is not open to debate, it is what you expend in exchange for something. It's a simple, straight up fact, and that fact is PC gaming costs more, it's that simple. That's why saying consoles are costly in this debate simply doesn't work. If you already have a capable gaming rig, then it's fair for you to say a console is not worth it to you, but that doesn't mean they are expensive, at least not compared to the arbitrary luxury that is a Gaming PC. And it is an arbitrary luxury, be honest. You did not built you gaming rig with a $1000 graphics card to work as a home office or study. You just didn't. In the end, everyone has the right to define and decide what suits themselves best when choosing gaming hardware. If you get upset that others don't find your platform of choice is best for them, then it's time to seriously grow up.

I tend to play older strategy games, like Dungeon Keeper and C&C Red Alert 2.
