I'm not much for multiplayer games, but did play allot of the original Titanfall and Final Fantasy XIV a number of years ago.

I've actually praised the existence to organisations like PEGI and the ESRB going so far as to say we have them to thank for gaming existing as we know it today, but this is indefensible. The game's ratings boards need a serious kick in the ass.

I have it on PC through gamepass, but I haven't actually tried it yet. I'm not a big fan of simulation style games anyway, so TBH I'm not exatly sure why I installed it, but there come come a time when I get in the mood and give it a go.

You also completely failed to understand what the quote from Edgar Allen Poe meant... It's not about different people finding different things attractive. What he is trying to say in that beauty is not achieved with perfection, it's achieved through being unique. That's what human beings in the real world are like. Even amongst the most beautiful people in the world there's flaws in thier features. Nobody has a "perfect" face nor body. What you describe as game developers attempts to make people look uglier is not an attempt to make them look uglier at all, it's about making them look more human, more realistic. And obviously, that doesn't mean they cant still be attractive. That's the point I think @Crazycrab was trying to make, using Aloy from HZD as the example. She's gorgeous, despite the imperfections in her face. Let's actually look at the image he posted again. The, quote on quote, "perfect" face on the right clearly wouldn't have worked. I'm temped to even call it terrifying. Anyone who knows anything about animation and/or digital design of faces will tell you imperfections are key. The "perfect" face wouldn't have worked is because it would never convey what a character is feeling anywhere near as effectively as a more natural looking face would. Imperfections in a face also make it more distinctive and easier to remember and are crucial to visual identify. These are essential elements of character design. So you see, there's a massive conflict of interest between wanting realism out of a character and focusing solely on making the character as attractive as possible. Any game developer with even a modicum of common sense would go for a more natural, expressive design rather than obsess over beauty. If you want characters to be as beautiful as possible, you can't make them be realistic. You just can't have it both ways. Some games, especially JRPG's I find, can kind of achieve both by having a more stylised approach, but the design still has to be expressive, that's still the priority. That's not the only way you're being hypocritical, either. You claim that "making characters ugly" is "stifling creativity", but who are you to decide what qualifies as creative liberty and what doesn't? Doesn't Guerrilla have the right to design Aloy in whatever way they want? For example, why would it not be creative choice to give Aloy blemishes, like freckles, but would be a creative choice to give her a killer set of abs? Have you even got the slightest idea how entitled, immature and bratty you are? Why is it up to you when something is or isn't a creative liberty when you have absolutely nothing to do with the design department of whatever game in question? I mean, who on earth do you think you are? I am not kidding, I actually want an answer to that. You can decide whether or not you like a design, that's fair, but you have no right to decide what counts as somebody else creative freedom. You hide behind the claim that it's "design by committee" or "social/political pandering" because you don't like to admit that you're a selfish, immature, misogynist that gets upset when games don't cater to you're moronic titillation. So for a grown up, someone devoid of the same excuse one could make for a hormonally insane teenager, to say that a character is any less just because, for some reason, that character isn't hot enough for your liking is madness. I remember @m76 trying to push that case in another thread and even went so far to claim that any heroine he didn't find attractive in a game was designed that way because of a feminist adgenga. I was addressing @Empire and quoting the OP (@The Blackangel ) along the way to illustrate what I was talking about. I wasn't trying "tell" the OP something she obviously already knew. The problem with @Empire's post is that just because Skyrim is the subject matter, that doesn't open up the limit of the discussion to anything associated with it. If somebody made a post looking for people to play Fortnight with on XBox, it wouldn't make sense for someone to reply "Yeah, let's play Fortnight together" listing thier PSN ID. The op made it clear that she won't play Skyrim on PC and that she wasn't interested in mods, so a post that discusses those things has no purpose in this thread. There are plenty of other threads to talk about those things on VGR.

First, here is the image that seems to have cost everyone thier calm; IMO, he still looks badass However, this might actually be the closest depiction of Thor when compared to actual myth that we've seen in modern media. The accepted image of Thor has been pretty much spoiled by modern media that insist he has to be a chiselled dreamboat of yum yum. Most notably of those being Chris Hemsworth as Marvel's Thor. The truth is Thor was usually described as strong, but none the less large, ugly, sweaty bearded man. Even Marvel's blond hair is all wrong, Thor's hair is red. I have a book of illustrated Norse myths at home and having read them, let's just say Thor could eat his grub. A lot of men in strong-man coemptions have a similar boy type as well, don't forget. Some of ancient images of Thor from the time period and region also support this. Dualshockers also did some research. Here is also the Wikipedia on Thor for good measure. Now, Thor as a Germanic Deity is portrayed as a more muscular man; But we're obviously talking about Thor in Norse mythology. In the end, though, what's important in the new God of War game is the how the character and that his actions relatable and understood and is the story itself interesting. Just because this Thor has a gut, doesn't mean it's not going to work. That doesn't gaureente that it will work either, but that's the point, it's a non factor. This what I like to call "nontroversy" does, sadly, expose how vain and superficial gamers can be, something that happens a little too often. I don't understand why people are so desperate to hate this game, but they're digging for excuses to do so. There's a thing with people loosing thier shit over a re-used animation of Kratos jumping into a boat. I mean, come on!

Being offered overtime to work extra hours is one thing, and a good that I would be willing to do. What makes crunch different is when people are forced or threatened to work that overtime. So you see, the pay in crunch is not the problem.

Tales of Arise, Life is Strange: True Colours, Kena: Bridge of Spirits and Deathloop are all big hitters that have either just come out or coming very soon. With what has been a less than spectacular year, it's still very open.

Planning out expenses when it comes to gaming is pretty much the only good reason to pre-order games these days. It gives you choice to buy games when they're more easily affordable for yourself, as apposed to having to by so many within a small space of time like in the infamous "Broketober" period. Don't get me wrong, I still hate the way companies handle pre-orders, they want you to do it for the wrong reasons, but it was be useful.

@The Blackangel already asked in the OP that people not suggest PC as for her own reasons she's interested; She also said she's not interested in mods after others (including me) brought it up; I do agree that PC is the best place to play Skyrim, but this topic wasn't put up for you, me or anyone else to to talk up thier platform preference. It's simply somebody asking for advice on what version is better to play, PS4 or Switch. Please contribute meaningfully, pay attention to what has been said in the thread (especially the opening post) and serve the subject at hand.

In game, there apparently called "The Rot". I know, kind dark, but context I'm sure would make it clear. The game, at least for now, is only available on PS4/5 and on PC through EGS.

If he wants to do that, then I've got no issue with it. I'll even admit it does look kind of cool. There has got to be some impracticalities to this, though. I assume the body mod involves hooks or ringlets being imbedded into the skull that the gold chains then attach to so that the chains themselves can be hooked and unhooked into place as and when necessary, it would have to be done that way. His natural hair will still grow, so I'm again assuming that he will shave his head, otherwise he risks his hair getting caught in the attachment hooks or the chains themselves. Shaving a head with dozens of metal hooks all over your scalp is bound to be, let's say, "frustrating". Also, I sincerely hope that whoever it was that performed the body mod knew what they were doing as embedding those hooks could compromise the strength of the skull if they're not careful. I'm not saying hat his head is going to fall to pieces, but if he get's in an accident and sustains a blunt force to his head or whip lash, he might end up with far more serious injures that he would have without the body mod.

I cast another vote for Horizon Zero Dawn. A beautiful game with a great story, a superb protagonist, gameplay that was fluid and challenging without being unfair or frustrating with some of the best controls I've ever played in a game.
