  1. The thing about Laptops in particular is that they tend to get moved around allot. So they are more likely to get damaged on that aspect than a home console or desktop PC witch tend to be stationary most of the time.
  2. I don't know about that. I think the term "Metroidvania" is a bit of buzzword that's thrown around a little to loosely. I believe it was coined with Castlevainia Symphony of the Night because is was a Castlevainia game in the style of Metroid. These days there are lots of "Metroidvania" games that don't seem all that consistent with that description.
  3. Yeah, that was really the only cryptic thing though. When I played I did the side missions and so on as I went. By the time I finished the game had very little left to to do. From what I understand Horizon Zero Dawn is one the easier Platinums out there.
  4. I've never really cared about trophies or achievements, like you mentioned the point is to have fun. I've only one Platinum on PlayStation and that was for Horizon Zero Dawn. You get that by basically just playing the game. It doesn't to anything completely ridiculous that would take hundreds of hours of tedium to do. If it did, like IMO to many game seem to expect you to do, I wouldn't bother.
  5. In previous generations PC fanboys have tried to make the argument that you can build gaming PC that is a match the current consoles for the same price for years. It never held water back then and sure as hell won't now. @skyfire, prove us wrong. Just go to https://www.pcpartpicker.com/ and try assemble for a comparable PC for around same price as a PS5 or an XBox Series X. I guarantee to you it can't be done.
  6. Shadow of the Colossus certainly has battles like this. With each Colossus it is a task to figure out how to get onto it to attack it's weak points.
  7. In terms of gaming it doesn't make a lot of difference since gaming performance is much more GPU dependent, but as of right now Intel is marginally beating AMD: Both chips around £255 Intel Core i5 12600K vs AMD Ryzen 7 5700G Both chips around £340 Intel Core i7 12700K vs AMD Ryzen 9 5900X It has to be said it is AMD we have to thank for this. It was the release of the first generation Ryzen's that finally gave Intel their long overdue kick up the arse. Before Ryzen you would have to pay nearly $1000 if you wanted anything above a quad core from Intel since they pretty much had a monopoly on the market.
  8. This one really stretches it if you ask me. The test was that they allowed 3 sets of children to play 3 different versions of Minecraft, one with guns and monsters, one with swords and monsters and one with no guns, swords or monsters and then put the children in a room full of toys. Among the toys was a realistic looking gun and (big surprise) the kids that played with the gun in Minecraft tended to be drawn to the gun in real life. If you ask me, it seems pretty obvious that after playing a game and having fun they would be drawn to something that relates to that experience, it doesn't mean that they are more violent. The article itself even admits: Yeah, this is not real life! Also in it's conclusion it states: Frankly, if need research like this to tell you that then you shouldn't be breathing, let alone breeding. There are a lot of problems with this so let me break it down. I want to state first this is a survey, not an experiment. The the "results" are based purely on what the subjects already believe. Secondly, despite it's title "Too much gaming makes kids aggressive, violent: Survey" as @Reality vs Adventure pointed out it barely talks about violence. The subject mostly under discussion is video game addiction which, I will state for the record, I do consider to be a legitimate problem. Video games should be enjoyed in moderation and should not be played to the excess that they are controlling one's life and/or effecting your health. This is one of only two part's that are relevant to this topic (I'll get to the other a little later): This is purely speculative, I could believe that children could experience desensitisation to violence when playing violent games in the same people tend to get desensitised to violence by watching violent films. But I've seen plenty of other research that shows that it doesn't make them more violent people. The last thing comes back to that clickbait title again. It is literally by the results presented by it's own survey.... A LIE! Check this out from the article! By their own fucking results 81% of the survey subjects believe that video games have no negative effect on their children. More said that video game have positive effect rather than a negative one! So where the hell is this asshat even drawing that bullshit conclusion earlier! Nice job @egghead, you literally just charged down to the other end of the field and kicked an own goal! Thank you!
  9. Sorry @Boblee, but I don't think your going to find many allies here. I'm sick to death of the shitposting and I'm glad to see the mods are finally taking action. I also agree that @egghead's posts on some topics are looking a little sketchy. It's like they want to promote NFT'S or some Blockchain game or something but won't directly they know the post will be deleted or edited and rightly so. To be perfectly honest, untill recently I'd have said that @Shagger and @The Blackangel have been to lenient on you guys and if I were a moderator I'd have taken more aggressive action long ago. I suggest that you and the others just bite the bullet.
  10. We actually have another thread going on about that one. I did watch it as a kid, it's one of the better adaptations especially at the time. The 2021 film was a bit of a mess. It has the fact that it's R rated going for it and the guy that played Kano is a lot of fun, but the story is all over the place and this new character their pushing is such a fucking bore. It should have been better.
  11. If you look at the titles you'll see the first one is "Lara Croft Tomb Raider" and the newer one is just "Tomb Raider". He made what he meant pretty clear if ask me.
  12. I am to! Weirdly though, as far as I've seen their not copying any of my threads... Do they think I'm not worth it?
  13. actually on topic The two games I would think that have the biggest sales are probably GTA V and Skyrim. Maybe World of Warcraft if you sales on that kind of subscription model. EDIT: Damn, I just went through the earlier post and totally forgot Minecraft, yeah that one makes sense.
  14. Either your trying to evade the criticism or your not reading the situation very well. I'm perfectly calm and I wasn't calling you for loosing your temper. I was calling you out for your terrible arrogant attitude which is still on full display. You had a point to make and I don't even think your wrong. My problem is you did it with such pomposity and arrogance and frankly, I would expect anyone but especially a moderator to do better: Here's one of I'm sure MANY ways you could have explained it without being a total twat: Your out of order, but I'm going to take a semi-educated guess that your not going to listen and just stop here before you blame me for this topic going of the rails or whatever.
  15. I'm not going to bother to look it up or anything but I'm certain that there are bookmakers that would let you place a bet on eSports, assuming that it's legal where you are obviously. I hate that industry though, it's corrupt and plays on vulnerable people. Now many of the same awful tactics are finding their way into gaming. It disgusts me.
  16. I know Destiny had it flaws but I enjoyed it, especially PVE. The gunplay is some of the best I've ever played in an FPS. It's issues mostly revolved around how grindy and repetitive it was. Well, I guess since I played the game way more than YOU, I'm within my right to tell you to shut the fuck up and publicity berate you for "not knowing what your talking about"... Right? Seriously back off dude! Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean you need to drop an atom bomb! Get a grip!
  17. Ok, I'm confused and I think you two are going to have to be a little more specific. There have been several games and movies across both the original and rebooted franchises, and opinions about these can be quite... divisive. So is it this movie (safely assuming it's not the sequel): Or this one: If you ask me, neither film was as good as it's game. The first movie with Angelina Jolie and was just cheesy, sellout hollywood. The other one starring Alicia Vikander was a better movie, but a worse adaptation. I hold it to a higher standard since the story in the rebooted Tomb Raider is head and shoulders above the original.
  18. From what I understand the PC port had a bit of rough launch but it seems to be fine now, there are some mods out there to. Not to mention that as of this post it's 50% off on Steam so now is a pretty good time.
  19. Actually, that's not quite accurate. Cobra's and other types of snakes are examples of venomous animals, not poisonous, and there is a significant difference. Poison can be effective in several was included both injection into the bloodstream AND ingestion. Venom however only works through injection and NOT ingestion. You can safely eat a venomous snake and even drink the venom. This wouldn't be the case for a poisonous animal like the Poison Dart Frog or Pufferfish. Just to clarify, a Rat is neither of these things. They carry disease... Just like any other mammal.
  20. I've made it no secret that I get super fucking irritated by these posting habits that are under discussion. There are users here that seem to just pick a subforum that they want to screw up, click and make a shitty Twitter style post that is barely on topic without reading or otherwise giving a crap what anyone else is saying then move to the next thread to do it over and over again. I like to think I'm one of those guys that actually care about what they are putting out there. If I don't feel like I can create a post that has some meaningful contribution to make then I don't make the post at all. My track record ain't perfect and I have made some stinkers, but the one thing I NEVER done is "post for points". Speaking of points. That sadly, I think is one source of the issue. @The Blackangel stated earlier "quality is infinitely more important than quantity" and I believe that is what we all want. But the truth is the way rewards system is set up here gears towards completely the opposite. The more posts you make the more points you get regardless of quality. The system doesn't know the difference a lovingly crafted and thought out review or character analysis and a some ass' 100th shitpost about FIFA 22. It would obviously be to taxing for administration to have to go through the forum deciding which posts are making a good contribution and which aren't. Not to mention that posts in themselves are subjective and any judgement would unavoidably opinionated. @Shagger also seemed to be expressing some frustration at these people, like they don't consider and/or care that what their doing is even an issue. If that is the case then I doubt that telling them to "please not to" is going to be very effective. So I'm my opinion limiting the amount of posts each user can make is the only real solution. I think a limit of 32 posts per day. I've come up with this based on 2 post per waking hour assuming your asleep for 8. I think if your not being a total spam whore that's more than enough. We could also introduce timers when users are making lot's of posts over a short span of time, and repeat offenders could have their posts subject to review by admin before going up. I don't want to be that jerk who pisses and moans about other people's posting, but I'm tired of going on the forums activity page to check the latest posts and have go through literally pages and pages of posts from the same users over and over and I'm sure I'm not the only one. It's of little benefit to them either, because while I'm skipping through it I'm obviously not reading on even paying attention to what their saying. If you are one of those people (and it should be obvious to you by now if you are), please read @Shagger's earlier post and his advice seriously so we can avoid having to put any restrictions in place. Prove me wrong and show their not needed.
  21. I use my consoles for Netflix, Amazon Prime, YouTube and so on all the time. In fact I spend more time on those apps then I do on games.
  22. It did not.... But that being the series has included a vampire that can walk on water and a man who could turn himself into a swarm of hornets so zombies don't actually fall that far away from the box. Not that I'm defending Metal Gear Survive, it fucking blows gas!
  23. The ads on the platform are definitely getting more intrusive, they are clearly trying to push people onto YouTube Premium. I refuse to use add blockers because it harms creators but it getting annoying.
