Patrik
i wouldn't personally call it loss, they have gained lot of users by doing that and also were able to compete with companies that are decades older than them

The point of the strategy was to lure them in with the free games and then convert them to loyal customers which isn't the case because these same people still prefer to buy their games off Steam or some other platform. The Epic games store itself has hard been upgraded since its release back in 2018 and is still lacking some basic functions that Steam and other stores have. skyfire
Also the thing with EPIC is that they have less discounts compared to the steam and gog. You would find lot better developer support with the steam and gog too. That is not the case with the EPIC.

I've had games that we 99% downloaded suddenly go back down to 0% for no apparent reason.

skyfire
EPIC has also added the apps now. So you can download gaming tools, browsers, and other apps including ebook readers. It seems EPIC is now taking the google and apple by their horns. China at it's all full strength.

This is one of the main reasons why I would never switch from Steam to Epic - too many problems.
skyfire
I think the issue would be more of reliance on the EPIC. I can't imagine making use of the Chinese store for something serious. I don't want to get my data being read by them.
