Justin11
I'll only change to lower difficulty level when I am simply new to the video game. Apart from that I play video games at the highest difficulty.

Only after we've done a game once & feel confident, will we go to the Hard level. I like a challenge but I rather have fun more than anything. I can't remember the last time I ever tried out any game playing on the Normal settings. Even when I started playing Dark Souls that's very insane game, I never played it in normal settings. Justin11
Some persons simply prefer starting at the top level even as a starter for the first time. No lie, I start from medium and gradually build up per experience.
Heatman
Starting from the difficult setting of the game is the best way to build yourself in the game, although if you don't have a tough skin, it will be hard to keep it up.
Darth
Whatever difficulty is enjoyable to play at without it being too easy. I think if a game is too easy, it can get a bit boring which is never good. And obviously, if it's too challenging, you can easily get frustrated with it. Something in the middle is always perfect for me.

Justin11
It's not interesting or motivating to play at the lowest level, when you know that AI wouldn't give you real fight or competition in the game.
Head_Hunter
Playing at the highest level brings enormous competition in the game, and not easy kind of game.

I love competition on gaming just like you do. Such keeps me going. Without strong competition from AI, or fellow gamers via offline or online multiplayer I wouldn't have loved video games. PGen98
I start with the game default settings and adjust upwards as needed. I tend not to go downwards, because that usually makes me less competent at the game itself.

Generally, I love it very hard and a little bit of average when it's too hard for me to cope. My experience with how hard Dark Souls was is still fresh in my mind. Rain Dew
I always do easy. Sometimes I have to stay on easy when I replay just because normal is too hard for me. But playing on easy can be fun.
