If someone narrated your life, who would you want to be the narrator?

Recommended Posts

Either Morgan Freeman, Sean Connery, or James Earl Jones.

Morgan Freeman has such a soothing and relaxing voice
Sean Connery (RIP) had this dominant quality to his voice that just made everyone around him notice when he spoke.
James Earl Jones has this commanding voice. By his voice alone he could get the queen of England to defer to him. Not literally, but you see where I'm going with this.

Morgan Freeman's narrating is pretty smooth - I can't lie and Sean Connery is a pretty good shout.

One thing I didn't think to ask:  Was he Sir Sean Connery? I can't remember if he was knighted or not. I think he was, but I'm not 100% on that.

I couldn't tell you to be honest - I always knew him as Sean Connery. I've never really heard them address him with the Sir before his name.

I checked it out again and found an actual answer. He was knighted in 2000. He has been Sir Sean Connery for the last 21 years.

That's pretty cool but why did they knight him in the first place?

From what I'm reading it was because Elizabeth II liked his movies. He was denied knighthood once because of his hardcore nationalism and pride of being Scottish. He wanted independence for Scotland, but as of today, as far as I know, there is no plan for Scotland to secede from the UK. Maybe @Shagger and @Crazycrab will weigh in on that and clue us in on what's going on there. I know it was brought up at one point a few years ago, but I don't think the idea went anywhere.

Here in the US, we don't get much news on most foreign politics, unless it directly affects us.

Scottish independence is a political discussion and so is something to address on the correct part of the forum. I'm also not a great source of basic information because I can't talk about it without bias. The short version is there was a referendum for Scottish Independence in 2014 that the powers trying to push for independence lost and that was a huge sigh of relief from me. It's only my opinion, but independence for Scotland from the UK would have been (and still would be) a disaster. Like I said, it's a political discussion so that's as far as I'll go. I'll write an option piece on the matter and post it to the political sub-forum if people are that interested, but for now that's my take

I would very much be interested. I'm sure Europeans get annoyed, or even pissed, when Americans talk about this, but the vast majority of my heritage is Scottish. So I'm always interested in what's going on there in what I often refer to as "my homeland".

Part of my lineage also stems from Scotland but the only thing that side of the family seems to have inherited is strong tolerance to liquor. My Great grandad was Scottish but my dad said he never really taught them much about Scottish history or wanted to talk about it so it must be something serious.
