Small gatherings are better especially with the people closest to you. Big parties usually break out in fights or some kind of incident.
Steerminator
I like the idea of a big party, but small gatherings seem to be a lot better the vast majority of the time. For me big parties inevitably end up with long periods of time standing around not knowing what to do, and also a bunch of awkward conversations with small groups of people that I don't know. Empire
Well in my opinion, bigger parties are basically multiple small parties taking place at the same time. There is usually groups of 5 or so people gathered around cuz they know eachother or have something in common whether it's a party of 5 or 500. Reality vs Adventure
Big parties causes fights and barf; small parties are boring when they always end up sitting in a circle and passing around a doobie. I'm more of a beach bonfire kind of person, or a canyon gypsy getting trashed and communicating with the plants and animals.

Haven't been to beach bonfire in a couple of years and it's one of those events I always look forward to...
