What can make video game tutorials/onboarding more fun?

Video game tutorials can easily be boring or frustrating. What are some ways they can be more fun or less obtrusive?

[Reality vs Adventure]

Specific missions that help learn certain skills and introduce you to parts of the map.

Giving a step-by-step tutorial that isn't too wordy and gets to the point rather than drag on about useless stuff I don't care about or won't be helpful at all in terms of gameplay.

Don't make the video tutorials too long is one way I believe that developers should make sure they don't make mistakes with in any way.

Also, I prefer the ones that you can actually skip it because not everyone wants to go through a boring tutorial. Some of us just want to jump headfirst into the game without having a clue what to do and figuring it out along the way.

I believe that in most cases they enable the skip feature because it's definitely going to be very boring if they take away that choice.
