As punishment you'd have to either eat a handful of flies or ants? Which would you rather?

So you're being tortured after being kidnapped and as punishment, you either have to eat a handful of flies or ants? Which would you pick and why?

Flies tend to carry more diseases, but ants bite when threatened. And if they're fire ants, or even worse, bullet ants, you'll wish you had taken the flies and died from whatever disease they were carrying. However if it's just a typical black ant then I would go with the ants.

I've been stung by an African fire ant before while on a trip in Botswana years ago and I still remember it till this day. It was one ant but the pain was so sharp and the area where I got stung felt like it was on fire. If I had a machete that day, I'd probably have taken off my leg in that instant. Having said that, I'd still eat the ants just because flies are disgusting and disease-ridden.
