Does anyone else always have to lower effects/music volume to hear dialogue?

I notice I almost always have to lower the default volume of music and effects in games, or I miss a lot of dialogue and have to strain to hear. Does anyone else consistently have the same problem with audio volume defaults?

Yep - it happens a lot especially in modern games where the music and effects are unbearably loud for some reason and then the characters tend to be whispering lol. Like why?

I usually don't have this issue while I'm playing a game. Although, my husband loves to tinker with the display and audio settings WHILE I'm playing a game to suit his liking so maybe he beats me to it before it's actually a problem.

Like I said earlier, I usually play at a real low volume and usually don't mess with in game volume.

If I found the sounds to be a big distraction for me, then I'd reduce the volume but if not, it stays on the default level.

I love hearing the sound of the game I'm playing but not in a high volume, I love listening to the commentary voices, the radar from the fans, those voices or sound makes the game worthwhile.

It's actually why I prefer playing all my games making use of my headphones in order to avoid disturbing others.

The sound of the in-game, the radar which is mostly the fans chant, it's truly what I look out for when it comes to playing racing games especially on F1.

I tend to leave it at their default volume, but do turn in subtitles for dialogue options.

Yeah - it's more fun doing it that way because the subtitles really aids you in catching almost everything in the dialogue.

Their are games that brings inspiration to me while I am consistently playing it. I love hearing the tune of music when I am playing NFS, and MGP.

It's ideal to lower the soundtrack or music in order to hear the dialogue or conversation with non - player character.

Whenever any video games can teach you something that's going to matter more outside the game itself, it's definitely going to matter too much.

When I am playing a game and their are lots of wonderful cutscenes surrounding it, I don't listen to music at that moment in order not to disrupt my hearing.

I do this also. My list of priorities go as follows:

1. The video I'm listening to in the background (currently Critical Role, Campaign 1)
2. Dialogue audio.
3. Sound FX depending on how the music is.
4. Music depending on how good the FX are.
