StaceyPowers
If a game has really solid gameplay but the other elements are tedious to you (i.e. the story, setting, characters, or art), can you enjoy it? Does it depend on what type of game it is?
m76
To me all GTA games, except for San Andreas fall into this category. They not even just bore me, the characters / story outright annoys me at times especially in GTAV.
killamch89
I don't think that's possible for me - Both story and gameplay go hand in hand for me.
Family sedan
I don't think I could like a game that only has one thing right about it. You have to give me more.
Syntax
Yes, since a lot of the time without a story the gameplay can be fine enough (things like sim city, etc.). Really depends though since if the gameplay sucks and story, there isn’t really a reason to play minus removing it from a list.
Heatman
Just like you pointed out that it's only the gameplay that's perfect with a boring character, world or story sucks, it's definitely going to make the game boring.
Head_Hunter
My answer is a big capital NO, everything must correspond before I can pour out my heart for such kind of video game to be on my favourite list. The gameplay, graphics, stories, characters must be unique and appealing.

It's not a bad thing to look for perfection.
Family sedan
I don't even need perfection. I could be happy with a game with say a 75, or 78 rating. By the time a game is rated that high it's doing most things right.
Justin11
Lol, the contents of the game also entice me, the background of the game must be unique to entice me, not just game play I am looking for.

That's the truth - both go hand in hand. Both need to be pretty good to really entice me - That's why most modern games don't really hold my attention for long. They lack the story elements and world building to entice me.

You're right buddy. Both the gameplay, and story elements should be superb. I can't play a game in which the story mode is poorly written, or constantly repetitive of few sentences xD. Head_Hunter
When I am playing a game, I love to see wonderful story mode, amazing cutscenes, and wonderful gameplay, if this things doesn't rhyme their is no need for the game.

It's when you get the ratings at below 50%, then it's crap. Family sedan
Justin11
The characteristics, story, gameplay must rhyme together to entice me playing it far too long. I love games that features story mode, cutscenes and better gameplay.
