In RPGs, how often do you actually purchase items from merchants in the game?

I have noticed while I worry a lot about stockpiling money in RPGs, I almost never actually buy from merchants. If I do, it is either health products as a newbie, or building materials or décor when I’ve levelled up. I loot everything else I need.

Do you buy much from in-game merchants? Or do you also loot most things you need?

I don't buy items from in-game merchants via RPGs. I simply do the upgrade in the shop, maybe it's due to the game type which I'm playing via my PS3 that doesn't have such feature.

The only game I actually spend money in is RDR2, and that's almost exclusively at the gun store buying ammo. Or a new rifle when it becomes available. My go-to is the Springfield, but I like to fill my compendium as much as possible.

I spend money upgrading the squad list of FIFA in order to catch up with RL game to make more realistic. Apart from that, I love upgrading my player kits, stadia, appearance items etc.

I don't play much of the online game at the moment, I am more into offline racing. But at times I do play multiplayer exhibition match with another player online, and it's an amazing one too.
