Did you ever use gaming tip hotlines when they were popular?

Recommended Posts

Back in the day when retro gaming was king, we didn't have the internet to get our tips from. I never called a video game hotline before, but I know they were a very popular means to get the helped needed to get through that tough level. Has there ever been a time where you called a gaming hotline for tips? If so, how was it, did they provide you with the tips you needed?

I wonder what it was like working as a caller on these tip hotlines. I know Nintendo had one, I'm sure Sega had one, and many others did as well. Are there even any gaming hotlines still left out there? I doubt it, because I'd imagine we'd still hear something about it. And with the rise of the internet and YouTube, tip hotlines aren't really needed anymore.
