StaceyPowers
Today I saw Star Citizen selling an in-game ship for $40,000 USD. I cannot imagine paying this even if I had billions of dollars, unless it was purely to support a game (i.e. really more of a donation). What are some other examples of insanely expensive items in MMOs?

As long as I'm not forced to buy that at such ridiculous prices, I wouldn't even flinch one bit about it because it's not reasonable at all. Scorpion
In “Entropia Universe,” properties have sold for millions. “World of Warcraft” mounts can reach absurd prices on third-party markets. Unbelievable!
killamch89
That $40,000 ship in Star Citizen is infamous. Another crazy example is the Crystal of Madness from Diablo III's auction house days, which sold for over $14,000. It’s wild how virtual items can command real-world prices. Sometimes it’s about status, but often it’s just hardcore fans with deep pockets.
