DC
Admittedly, I have never played a MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) before as they seemed super complex and overwhelming. But I familiar with LoL's popularity and the competitive component of the game (esports). I have heard comments like the LoL and more specifically MOBA community as a whole is toxic. Is this true? Any specific suggestions for a noob getting started in LoL?

This is an inciting video, though I have built my champion to a certain level of strength that could match with other players in the game , but I still gained a thing or two I would immediately add to my own game play from this video. Thanks.
Scorpion
It's true that some MOBAs can be overwhelming and the community can be toxic. Start with tutorials, play casually, and focus on enjoying yourself!
killamch89
Getting into LoL as a beginner can be a mix of excitement and challenges. Since it’s your first MOBA, I’d suggest checking out beginner guides or videos that break down the basics like understanding roles (top, mid, support, ADC, and jungle) and learning how minion waves work. And yes, toxicity can be present, but focusing on your own learning can help you tune it out. Every game will teach you something new, so if you’re patient, you’ll improve and start having fun.
