Where did it go?

What's a game franchise that you enjoyed, but quit being made and you can't figure out why?

The biggest one for me is Castlevania. It was made up through the PS3, but after that, as far (as I know) there haven't been any releases for any system. I've never seen any articles about it. Lords Of Shadows II is last last one I'm aware of. And it was one of the most popular franchises out there.

So I'm at a loss. What about you?

Megaman mostly, since it's the one I grew up with the most, and always felt was really good at making spinoffs and other cool games.

Another is Viewtiful Joe. I'd KILL for a third game, or even a HD port of the originals. There are probably tons more, but those are always the ones I think about off the top of my head.

I would have to say Left 4 Dead. I played the first and second games from this franchise and even though there were rumours we would get a Left 4 Dead 3, nothing ever came of that and instead we got a game under a different name that was similar to Left 4 Dead but never really felt the same called Back 4 Blood. I played Back 4 Blood a few times but I could never really get into it at all, felt nothing like what Left 4 Dead felt like and just wasn't a game I enjoyed. I still do not understand why they didn't just make a Left 4 Dead 3 to be honest.

Half Life 2 is a big one, since so many were expecting an episode 3 or an outright Half Life 3 to come out. Same with Left 4 Dead, because that too deserved to get a 3rd game.

Aside from that, I wish they made more Simpsons themed games. The last good game I can think of was the Simpsons game, and ever since I feel like they focused on cheap and boring mobile games. Give us a hit and run remake, remaster and or a sequel.

Tenchu is one that always comes to mind. The last true console release was back in 2007 on the Xbox 360 with Tenchu Z.  From Software simply stopped making them not long after that release. Sekiro Shadows Die Twice was conceptualized as a new Tenchu title, but redone into a more Souls-Borne type game.  Which is a real shame because I've been dying for a new Tenchu title and would love to see full-on remakes of Tenchu & Tenchu 2 from the PS1 if I'm being honest.

The Grand Theft Auto series.

Most of my friends love those games, but I have only finished two of them and that was GTA5 and GTA4. And to be honest I pushed myself to finish GTA4. I loved GTA3 but that was a long time ago and there was just nothing like it at the time it came out. Did not really give a shit about the story back then either. But as I got older, story became more important to me in games. But what makes GTA as it is, the fact that you can mod it out so heavy and play as a cop

Grand Theft Auto doesn't really count since they are still putting out content for GTA V and are working on a new game as we speak. This was mostly meant for games that have quit coming out, or haven't released a game in a long time. GTA is just taking its sweet old time to release a new game, because they're going to keep milking GTA V for as long as they can.

Simplest Answer - Konami happened. The same thing can be said about Contra - both iconic series in the 80's and 90's, Konami has been too busy building gambling machines for casinos to make great games anymore. That's the reason I keep saying that they should sell the IP to the Devil May Cry team at Capcom because they'd give us a great game for sure. Konami has a whole treasure trove of great IPs that are going to waste such as: Castlevania, Metal Gear, Silent Hill, Contra and more that I can't quite remember.

Golden Sun. The first two were some of the finest JRPGs ever made. Then they had one mediocre DS game, and the series fell off the face of the earth.

SOCOM. Easily one of Sony's best first-party franchises from the 6th gen. I'm amazed at the lack of interest Sony has in reviving it, especially considering how obsessed they are with keeping military shooters on their platform right now.

Roller Coaster Tycoon... I loved the first two games, and liked the third (didn't have the same charm as the first two, but the Coaster Cam alone made it worth getting 🙂 ). But after that... the franchise kinda imploded 😕 .

I did try Planet Coaster, but I just couldn't get into it... it was too complicated 😞 .

I've never actually played any of the roller coaster tycoons. Don't they still make the series today? Or is it that it's not nearly the same as it used to?

It's still crazy to me that Sony hasn't done anything with SOCOM in forever now. You'd think they'd reboot the franchise by now.

Socom was one of my favorite PS2 games ever and I still don't understand why they ever dropped it. I mean, it was fairly popular and everyone who played it at the time loved it. As for Golden Sun, it's been ages since I've seen this one - I remember how popular it was on the GBA. From what I remember, it was a fantastic traditional RPG like Chrono Trigger. I remember when it and Fire Emblem used to be among the top RPGs on the GBA.
