PGen98
I think if anything overpowers traditional television it's streaming services. Comparing gaming to television or streaming is apples and oranges. You can relax doing both, but you tend to get different senses of enjoyment from one or the other. Each is equally powerful in the mind as the other.
NightmareFarm
Yes. Gaming feels more interactive to me.
Scorpion
It’s interesting how gaming offers personal agency while shows dictate narratives. Control makes gaming uniquely engaging. Perhaps it does triumph other forms!

Kind of strange how gaming is a very personal experience where you control a protagonist and on a Sunday you flip your channel to a show where you have to watch another person's narrative. It's not making sense to me anymore. Does gaming triumph all other forms of entertainment? Maybe that should be the title. That's a really interesting insight. Television is linear, and entirely out of your control. Whereas gaming gives you the options to 'control your own narrative' (literally like The Sims!) With that said, as others have pointed out, TV is much more passive - you chill out, relax on the couch, and let the story unfold without doing anything. You're literally watchinig. Whereas with video games, you're in the mix of it which means you can be tensed up, anxious, or excited - it's a much more emotive and connected experience.
