I think the COVID-19 protocols is one of the things that shifted the gaming landscape and that's why we didn't see release parties lately.

You're so right with your assertion. The COVID-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the gaming industry and one is the cancellation of release parties and other notable events.

Wow, I missed the midnight launch parties. This really creat unforgettable memories. But I'm still very sure that they'll make a comeback sooner than expected.

Personally, I don't think the parties are going to make any comebacks because of the nature which games are released now. With most games going digital, and also developers sucking at releasing games right in a way that matters, it makes it hard for celebration parties for those games possible.

It doesn't matter. Of course, I understand that the shift towards the digital store for gaming can slow it down, but it can't totally eliminate it.

I still recall how people are waiting in line for hours for Halo 3's midnight launch. I think the shift to digital downloads has actually contributed to the decline of launch events.
