Felix the Cat (NES & Gameboy versions) coming to Switch, PS4 & PS5 March 28th

Recommended Posts

This is cool, Konami is re-releasing Felix the Cat for the Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS4 on March 28th. The game will be a package deal as it will have the NES and Gameboy versions. I don't recall ever playing either game growing up, but I assume it was a fairly good game. I might have emulated it years ago, but I forget. It looks like it'd be fun though, so I might have to check it out. Not sure I agree with the $24.99 price tag. I would think $15 is a better deal, it doesn't look like they updated the graphics or anything, it's just a re-release of a retro game.

Konami has a page dedicated to the game here as well - https://www.konami.com/games/felixthecat/about-the-game

A game based of Felix the Cat? That very early cartoon from the 1920's? Releasing a game based of Felix the Cat makes even less sence now than it did in the 80's. At least there was a movie that came out around that time. It was crap, but at least it existed. Seriously, who asked for this?

The permice of Felix the Cat is that Felix has a magic bag he can morph into anything he wants. That's a cool concept for a video game, it really is. If one wanted to make a video game based off that, why not make something new? Use the modern tools and modern know-how how to help this concept reach it's full potential? Think about that, think about how the game hasn't seen any noticeable enhancements and think about that ridiculous price and you will probably come to the same conclusion I did. This is a lazy cash grab. Some lazy ass hat has somehow acquired this IP and seeks to make a quick and easy quid out of it.

It does look like decent game for it's time, but it obviously hasn't been remebered otherwise more people would know about it. If it had no impact then, there is no reason to expect it to have an impact now. This just isn't worth even the low effort that has been out into it.

I agree - why couldn't they have made a 3D game and add lots of interesting elements like Mario 64 for instance? Imagine it as a 3D platformer with Felix morphing that magic bag into items that help him solve certain puzzles or fight bosses?

Not sure how I missed this. I would have loved to see a 3D game made with a lot more going on in the game rather than this.

I would imagine some people are playing it but this will be one I will give a miss.

I'm so much stoked to see this classic game getting to be released on the modern consoles. But for me, the $24.99 seems too high for a game that's just a re-release.
