Shortie
Game chat on consoles when playing video games has always had it's issues, you will always get someone who feels they need to be awful to someone in the lobby or even someone who is rude and abusive or doesn't know when to mute their microphone or keep their TV turned down when they have their microphone active. With how online chat can be on consoles now, has this put you off using in-game chat when playing an online game?
Heatman
Personally, I don't use it. I have it turned off in any game that I play because I don't want to get any thing that's going to aggravate me when I'm playing the game.
killamch89
I do use it when necessary but I try to avoid conversations with toxic people online. Especially those tryhards and other people who try to ruin the experience for their fellow gamers.
Yarik
I almost always use the in-game chat in online games. I need to communicate with my teammates to secure the win. I don't get pushed away from using the chat because of someone who has decided to be rude. I can handle situations like those.

It's why I don't bother with trying to use it no matter how careful I can be. My peace of mind is very important to me.

Yes, in competitive games it's important to use the chat. Counter Strike is one of those games where I'm active in using the chat and communicating with my teammates. But I too avoid using the chat in GTA Online. There's nothing there to make it worth it.
Kennysplash
Game chats can make the game much more interesting, provided it is not abused. Imagine the banter chats that you could be having. But once I discover that the other person is causing nuisance with it, I disable it.

Unfortunately, the chat system on most video games are always abused by toxic gamers. This is the reason why a lot of people find it unbearable to make use of it including myself. If it is a game that requires teaming up with the other players to win, why won't we want to use the in-game chat? I believe that with such feature, I can be able to do much more better. As long as those I am playing the game with are not going to be making a miserable for me too use the chat system with them, I don't see any problem why it should be avoided. There are some players that are toxic and they can get your on your nerves when you are just out there to enjoy and have fun. This is what I don't really like with having that feature turned on. That is understandable, I have heard some of them and they are not the greatest to be part of. I do like how companies are doing more about what is said in game chats nowadays but people still do it and no one needs to hear half of what gets said. DanTheGamer
It's been awhile since I've personally used online chat. If I'm chatting with anyone online it's usually through Discord with a community of people I'm already familiar with.
