Games that successfully put you on edge even when you shouldn’t be?

Are there any games you have played that deliberately cultivated a frightening or at least tense atmosphere that affected you despite the game content not necessarily being frightening? For example, the DLC for Outer Wilds definitely puts me on edge, though so far nothing I have encountered in it is actually scary.

Layers Of Fear definitely puts you on edge when it doesn’t really have to. If you’re afraid of ghostly things happening all around you, this game will have you sleeping with your parents for the next 3 months.

I have to agree - the atmosphere and everything in this game just scares the shit out of you. Madison is the next one - that game made me not trust statues in any horror game. Can you imagine being terrified of standing near any statues at all?!

Considering that I've never heard of Madison, I have to say no. I don't know the context or theme of the game, so I'm (currently) not able to relate in any way.

*Subnautica* did that for me. The deep, dark ocean made me uneasy, even though nothing particularly terrifying happened at first.

Facts. Just like being in the ocean or sea in real life. Creatures can unexpectedly pop up near you without you seeing it coming.
