StaceyPowers
What are some examples of games where the trailer and the finished game were incredibly different from each other? (BioShock Infinite’s trailers spring to mind).
Scorpion
*No Man's Sky* comes to mind. The trailer promised vast features, yet the initial release felt underwhelming compared to expectations.
killamch89
Aliens: Colonial Marines is a great example. The trailers and demos showed off impressive AI and action-packed sequences, but the final release was pretty underwhelming. It was nowhere near the level of quality people expected. The 2011 trailer of Aliens: Colonial Marines was meant to introduce the fans to an intense cinematic action packed game. However, we got a game that was with bugs, was poorly optimized, had stupid AI and graphics that were outdated even at the time of release. killamch89
Button
The No Man’s Sky’ trailers failed to have any multiplayer. It has a basic combat, but the gameplay was just so awkward and unappealing to me

I remembered because I was looking forward to that game back then but was heavily disappointed with its release.
Lens
The 2017 Starwars Battlefront 11 trailer emphasized space battles, and a great single-player experience. But instead we got microtransactions, loot boxes, and a very shallow story.
